스노우 캐년 ​​주립 공원 (평점 3*)

존슨 캐년 아치 트레일 (Johnson Canyon Arch Trail)

존슨 아치는 스노 캐년 주립 공원에서 가장 인기 있는 하이킹 코스 중 하나입니다. 이 짧은 왕복 1.8마일 하이킹 코스는 인상적인 200피트 길이의 존슨 아치를 방문합니다. 대부분은 존슨 아치를 지나 멀지 않은 아치 캐년 끝까지 계속 올라가서는 돌아오기 전에 그늘에서 시간을 보냅니다. 이 하이킹 코스는 가족 전부가 이용할 수 있으며  쉬운 가족 친화적인 하이킹 코스이며, 아치 캐년 끝은 피크닉 장소로 매우 훌륭합니다.

이 코스는 원래 주차장에서 길을 건너 잘 닦여져있고 넓은 트레일을 따라가면 됩니다. 현무암 잔해들이 많은 평원을 지나 절벽 밑에 도착하여 꾸부러져 돌아가면 존슨 캐년으로 들어갑니다. 사람들은 아치가 주변 절벽에 섞여 있기 때문에 보기 어렵다고 말했습니다. 우리는 아치 캐년 끝을 표시하는 지역까지 갔어지만 놓쳤습니다. 우리보다 운이 좋기를 바랍니다.

우리가 방문했을 당시 주차장은 공사로 인해 폐쇄되었지만, 입구 역에서 조금 떨어진 곳에 작은 주차 공간이 있습니다.

절벽에서 사진 속에 있는 것 같은 큰 바위가 떨어질 수도 있으니 트레일에서 조심하세요.

Johnson Canyon Arch Trail

Length: 1.8 mile RT

Difficulty: easy

Trail is closed seasonally from March 15 – September 14

Johnson Arch is one of the more popular hikes in Snow Canyon State Park. This short 1.8 mile round-trip hike visits Johnson Arch, which has an impressive 200ft span. Most continue up a short distance to the end of Arch Canyon and hang out in the shade before the return trip. This is an easy, family friendly hike that should be accessible to most, with the end of Arch Canyon making a great picnic spot.

From the original parking area, cross the road and follow the well traveled and wide trail. It crosses the basalt rubble plain before reaching the base of the cliffs, circling around, and entering Johnson Canyon. People said that the arch is hard to see since it blends into the cliffs surrounding it. And we missed it even though we reached the area where it marked the end of Arch Canyon. I hope you have better luck than we did.

On our visit, the parking lot was closed due to the construction, but there are small parking space at the short distance from the entry station.

히든 피니언 트레일 Hidden Pinyon Trail

트레일 주차장은 공원 남쪽 입구에서 올라가면 스노우 케년 켐프장 (Snow Canyon Campground) 건너편에 있습니다. 트레일(왕복 1.5마일)은 Red Sands, Hidden Pinyon, Whiptail로 갈 수 있는 포장 도로에서 시작합니다. 이곳에서 Hidden Pinyon 표지판을 따라가면 트레일이 비포장 길로 바뀝니다. 저희들은 확인하는 것을 잊었지만 트레일 시작점에서 약 0.2마일 떨어진 곳에 금속 정보 상자가 있습니다. 트레일을 따라 있는 19개의 번호가 새겨진 금속 기둥 근처의 식물과 관심 지점을 설명하는 Hidden Pinyon Trail Guides가 들어 있다고 합니다.

트레일은 비교적 쉽지만 돌들이 많고 고르지 않으며 그늘에서 쉰곳은 전혀 없습니다. 트레일은 Snow Canyon을 내려다 볼 수 있는 전망대가 끝인데 공식적인 Snow Canyon Overlook과 혼동하시지 마세요.

Hidden Pinyon Trail

The parking lot is on the left across the Snow Canyon Campground traveling from the south entrance. The trail (1.5 mile RT) starts on a paved road with options for Red Sands, Hidden Pinyon, and Whiptail. Follow signs for Hidden Pinyon and the trail becomes a dirt trail from here on out. We forgot to check, but there is a metal information box at about .2 mile from the trailhead. It suppose to contain the Hidden Pinyon Trail Guides that provide a description of the plants and points of interest for each of the 19 numbered metal poles along the trail. 

The trail is relatively easy, but it is uneven and rocky, completely exposed and ends at an overlook of Snow Canyon, not the official Snow Canyon Overlook. From the overlook, you may go back to the parking lot. But, we decided to loop back following the Petrified Dunes trail and Butterfly trail. The trails are technically marked, but we found that the markers are few and far between.

페트리파이드 사구 트레일을 가고 싶다면 두 가지 방법이 있습니다. 공식적으로는 공원의 경치 좋은 드라이브 길에 있는 Butterfly Trail 시작점과 공유하는 주차장에서 시작하는데, 어퍼 갈루트 피크닉 구역 (Upper Galoot Picnic area) 에서도 갈 수 있습니다.

Petrified Dunes

Length: 1.2 miles from Upper Galoot parking

Difficulty: moderate

These incredible once-flowing mountains of sand that are now rolling mounds of petrified Navajo Sandstone could be fun for the hikers. A short trail leads into the dunes. Once you reach the petrified dunes, there is no established trail. You are free to wander wherever you want to go. This hike offered gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains and lava fields.

If you wish to the Petrified Dunes trail, there are a couple different ways. It officially begins at a parking area along the park's scenic drive that's shared with the Butterfly Trail trailhead, but can also be reached from the Upper Galoot Picnic area.

나비 트레일 (Butterfly trail)

Butterfly trail

This trail is more of a connector trail for other trails. The views of different terrains of Snow Canyon on the trail made it interesting. After a stop at Lava Tube, we back tracked to the parking lot following the Butterfly trail since it is also the trailhead for Petrified Dunes and Hidden Canyon.

용암 동굴 (Lava Tube)

용암 동굴에 들어가기 위한 가이드나 지침서는 없었고 쉽게 동굴을 드나들 수 있는 것 같지는 않았습니다. 다만 모험을 원하면 본인의 책임하에 탐험할 수는 있겠지만 손전등은 꼭 지참해야 합니다.

용암 흐름 트레일 (Lava Tube Trail)

용암 동굴들만 들리고 싶다면 주립 공원 북쪽 끝에 있는 큰 주차장에서 트레일을 따라 갈 수 있습니다. 이 길은 딱딱하게 다진 모래, 자갈, 용암 바위들로 고르지 않은 신길입니다.

Lava Tube

One thing to know is that the lava tubes are not easily accessible to everyone. Also, we did not see any guide or instruction to enter the tube, except you may adventure on your own risk. If you want to explore the tubes, you should make sure to bring a flashlight. 

Lava Flow Trail

If you only want to venture to the Lava tubes, you may reach them from a large parking area at the north end of the state park. The trail is uneven surfaces with hard packed sand, gravel and lava rocks.

화이트 록스 트레일 (White Rocks Trail)

화이트 록스 트레일의 시작은 스노 캐년 주립 공원 북쪽 입구 바로 북쪽에 있습니다. 작은 주차장이 있고 트레일은 잘 가꾸어져 있어 따라가기 쉽습니다.

트레일 시작은 대부분 평평하고 모래가 많지만 흰색 나바호 사암/슬릭록(공원의 이 부분의 지어진 이름) 기슭을 따라가다보면 바위 표면 위를 가리키는 표지판이 나옵니다. 바의 표면 위를 걸어가는 것이 쉽지만은 않지만 그리 멀지 않은 거리에 정말 원형극장처럼 보이는 "원형극장"이 있습니다. 좀 매끄러운 바위 표면을 따라 정상까지 올라가면 원형극장과 주변 지역을 더 잘 볼 수가 있습니다.

White Rocks Trail

Length: 0.4 Mile

Difficulty: moderate

The trailhead for White Rocks trail is just north of the north entrance to Snow Canyon State Park. There is a small parking lot and the trail is well-defined and easy to follow.

The trail is mostly flat and sandy in the beginning, and then, following along the foot of the white Navajo sandstone/slickrock (this part of park named after), there is a sign pointing directly up the rocky surface. After a bit of scrambling, we made to the "Amphitheater" which really does look like an amphitheater. It is easy to climb further up the smooth slopes for better views of amphitheater and surrounding area.

스노우 케년 전망대 (Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook)

이곳 전망대는 바로 전망대까지 차를 몰고 가서 즐길 수 있는데 스노우 케년 북쪽 입구 바로 남쪽에 있는 유타 고속도로 18에서 아주 짧은 비포장 도로를 따라 전망대까지 갈 수 있습니다. 스노 캐년의 경치가 보이는 이 곳은 일출과 일몰 구경에 인기가 많습니다.

There is no hiking, you drive right up to the overlook and enjoy. There is a really short dirt road off the Utah Highway 18 just south of north entrance to get to the overlook. Scenic spot with views of Snow Canyon is popular for sunrise and sunset watching

Wanted, but missed:

The lighting at Jenny's Canyon is suppose to be better in the mid afternoon and planed such. But we had to skip it since we got behind the schedule.

Jenny's Canyon

Distance: 0.5 miles out and back

Difficulty: Very EasyTrail is closed seasonally from March 15 – June 1.

Jenny’s Canyon is named for Jenny Pratchett who died in an accident at Snow Canyon in 1994. She was climbing on the cliffs above Snow Canyon and fell in an accident.

Jenny's Canyon Trail is on the right at 0.6 miles from the south entrance on Snow Canyon Road. It is a short, family-friendly trail to a short slot canyon.

When you reach the dry wash, cross directly and follow the trail until you reach a T intersection at the base of the cliffs. From here, choose to go left into the slot canyon or right to climb up to a scenic overlook. The differential erosion rates of the sandstone make for amazing textures in the slot canyon walls.

식당은 매우 붐볐고 예약을 했음에도 불구하고 조금 기다려야 했습니다. 우리 그룹은 작은 방으로 안내 되었는데 좌석이 꽤 비좁았습니다. 우리는 Banchan, Kogi Tacos, Slippery Shrimp, Kimchi Fried Rice, Garlic Chicken, Kalbi 및 Date Cake 또는 Strawberry Shorty를 포함한 Chef Menu ($75/인)를 주문해 맛보기로 결정했습니다. 고기타코는 매콤함이 적당해서 아주 맛있었고 새우 접시와 마늘치킨도 먹을만 했어요 그런데 갈비는 고무처럼 질겼고 김치볶음밥은 제가 먹어본 것 중 최악 중의 하나였습니다. 레스토랑의 명성에 비해 전반적으로 만족스러운 경험은 아니었습니다. 직원들은 매우 협조적이었고 매운 음식을 먹을 수 없는 친구를 위해 특별한 요청을 수용하려고 노력했습니다. The place was very busy and we had to wait a little even with a reservation. The sitting for our group was in a room, but the sitting was cramped.  We ordered Chef Menu ($75/person) including Banchan, Kogi Tacos, Slippery Shrimp, Kimchi Fried Rice, Garlic Chicken, Kalbi and Date Cake or Strawberry Shorty. Kogi Tacos was very good with right amount of spicy and Slippery Shrimp and Garlic Chicken were good. But Kalbi was as tough as rubber and Kimchi Fried Rice was the worst I had. With the fame of restaurant, the overall experience was not satisfactory. The staff was very helpful and tried to accommodate a special request for a friend who could not have any spicy food.
