LA 방문 중에 라스베가스를 한 번 가보라는 여러분들의 조언이 있어 이 번 여행 길에 LA에서 차로 라스베가스를 다녀 왔습니다.
2박3일 예정이었는데 첫날 저녁에 도착하여 저녁으론 좀 떨어져 있지만 한식식 멕시코 음식을 먹을 예정입니다. 첫날 밤에는 호텔(미라지 호텔) 근처의 볼만 한 것들을 보고 두째날은 낮에는호텔들 안에 구경꺼리들을 보면서 저녁 부페를 먹으로 스트립 남쪽으로 음직일 것입니다. 그리곤 저녁을 먹은 후 스트립을 따라 북쪽으로 걸으며 밖에 있는 구경거리들을 보도록 계획을 짜습니다. 또한 "태양의 서커스" "사랑" 을 관람하고 라스 베가스까지 왔으니 저희들의 운을 시험해 봐야겠지요.
Cirque Du Soleil - "Love" Mirage
비슷한 쇼들을 각 각 다른 주제로 여러 군데에서 공연을 하니 맘에 드는 공연을 보세요. 가격도 꽤 차이가 나구요.
처음 공연을 보기 시작해서는 무대 위에서 너무 많은 작은 공연들이 벌어져 무엇이 무엇인지 종잡을 수가 없었는데 시간이 지나면서 보기가 쉬워졌습니다. 알고보면 무대를 가로질러 양쪽에 같은 공연이 이루어 집니다. 저희가 본 "사랑" 공연은 비틀즈 노래에 맞추어 잘 짜지어 있었으나 비틀즈 노래를 잘 모르는 분들은 내용을 따라가기가 약간 힘들 수도 있습니다. 자석은 무대를 가로 질러 양 옆 중간에 앉는 것이 공연을 보기에 좋았습니다. 가격도 만만치 않구요. "사랑" 공연은 할인해서 한 사람당 90불에서 160불입니다. 단 제일 싼 자석은 할인이 안됍니다.

한식과 멕시코식을 혼합한 음식점이라고하여 찾았습니다. 한식과 멕시코 음식을 주문할 수도 있지만 혼합식을 먹어 보기로 하였습니다. 김치를 넣어 만든 타코(다른 고기로 6개), 치미창가, 누릉지로 만든 토스타다를 주문하였는데 정말 맛 있게 먹었고 네명이 먹기에도 많은 양이었습니다. 금상첨화는 20블도 안들었다는 것이지요. 단 한가지 문제점은 식당이 작아 (10 탁자 정도) 바쁠때는 기다리는 시간이 꽤 길어 질 수 있습니다.

Wicked Spoon Buffet at Cosmopolitan
가장 최근에 생긴 부펩 식당이고 이 곳은 큰 그릇에 있는 음식을 각자 떠 가는 것이 아니고 작은 접시에 따로따로 일인분 씩 담아 내논다고하여 먹어보자 했습니다. 고기 종류는 맛있었고 살라드도 몆 종류는 괜찮은 편이었는데 피자, 파니니 (panini), 그리고 동양식 음식부는 피하십시오. 40불 저녁에 마른 피자나 원조를 모르는 동양식을 먹기에는 너무 억을합니다. 후식은 괜찮았습니다. 원하는데로 만들어 주는 메그로니와 치즈는 별로 치즈를 좋아하지 않는 분들에게도 맛있었습니다.

Jean Philippe Patisserie at Bellagio
딸기 타트 ($6.90), 키라임 타트 ($6.90), 오페라(초코렛 케익, $6.90) 를 주문했는데 타트는 정말 smooth하고 맛 있었습니다만 Opera는 별로 였습니다. 카라멜 (한 상자에 24불)은 연하였지만 Sable Breton (한 통에 15불)은 건조하고 푸석푸석 했습니다. 커피하고 먹으면 맛 있다고 하지만. 친구가 아침 일찍 비행기를 타야해 파니니 샌드위치를 주문했는데 그 값에 식사용으로 먹기에는 너무 작았다고 합니다.

Atlantis fountain at Ceasar's Palace
잘 알려져 있는그리스 신화 내용을 묘사한 쇼인데 매 정시각에 보여 줍니다. 쇼는 재미있게 봤는데 기술적인 것이 좀 오래 된 감이 있습니다.

Fountain Show at Bellagio (분수쇼)
유명한 분수 쇼인데 해진 후에는 15분마다 공연을 합니다. 해 진 후에 보는 것이 전기 불이 더 선명하게 보입니다. 각 공연마다 음악에 따라 루틴이 다르니 적어도 두번 정도 보시는 것이 좋을 듯합니다. 저희들이 구경 하였을 때도 두번째가 훨씬 좋았습니다. 그것은 시나트라를 좋아해서 그런 것만은 않일 것입니다.

Pirate Battle at Treasure Island (해적단 싸움)
보물섬 호텔의 해적단 싸움. 라스 베가스에서 제일 잘된 공짜 공연으로 평이나있음. 공연은 저녁 7시, 8시30분, 10시, 11시30분에 시작되는 30분 짜리 입니다.
Volcano Fountain at Mirage (화산 분수쇼)
호텔 앞 호수에 화산이 터지는 광경. 해진 후 15분 마다 공연이 있습니다.

Alien Fresh Jerky on Hwy 15 in Baker, California (하이웨이 15 도로 베이커에서 출구하세요)
저희들은 육포를 좋아하는 편이 아니지만 이 곳이 워낙 육포로 유명하다하여 들렸습니다. 점원 이야기로 제일 잘 팔린다는 Honey teriyaki 육포와 Whisky 육포, Peppered 육포를 시식해 보았습니다. 저희들에게는 Peppered 육포나 Honey teriyaki 육포가 괜찮았습니다. 음식 후 술 냄새가 입안에 남아도 괜찮으신 분은 Whisky 육포를 아마 좋아 하실 것입니다. 마늘과 양파로 양념한 피스타치오, 계피로 구운 피칸, 멕시칸 소스와 말린 파인애플 들을 먹어 보았는데 피스타치오와 피칸은 별로 였지만 말린 파인애플은 새로웠습니다.

A lot of people recommended a side trip to Las Vegas whenever we visited LA. Hence, we took their advice and arranged a trip to Las Vegas from LA by the car.
We planned for 2 nights and 3 days. We planned to try the Mexican/Korean restaurant for dinner on our arrival since it is somewhat away from the strip. During the rest of evening, we took a walk along the strip around the hotel (Mirage) we stayed enjoying the night scenes. On the second day, we headed toward south of strip where we dinner reservation at Wicked Spoon Buffet while sightseeing the inside of hotels along the way. After the dinner, we will head back to our hotel while watching the outside shows. During the rest of night, we will watch Cirque Du Soleil-Love and try our luck at the casinos.
Cirque Du Soleil - "Love" Mirage
There are several Cirque Du Soleil with different theme and choose the one you like since the price varies depending the show.
At first it was difficult to follow any act since there were so many different acts were performed on the stage. But, it gets easier to follow since the number acts on the stage are less as the show goes on. The show was well done with Beatles musics even though you may scratch your head trying to follow the stories if you are not familiar with Beatles music. Viewing from a seat in the middle zone of stage is a lot better than viewing from a seat in end zone. The ticket price is not cheap. It could put you in the hole for $90 to $160 even with discount for "Love". There is no discount for the lowest priced seats.
Komex Express 633 N. Decature Blvd NV 89107
This is a fusion Korean Mexican restaurant. You could order regular Korean and/or Mexican dishes, but we decided to try the fusion dishes: Mexican dishes with Korean ingredients. We tried Tacos (6 with different meats), Chimichanga and Tostada with Kimchi (Korean seasoned cabbage). Tostada was made with crispy rice shell. The food was excellent and it was more than enough to feed four adults. And It only cost us $20. If you like or try Korean flavored Mexican food, this place is a must. One major(?) problem with this place is that the seating is very limited (about 10 tables).

Wicked Spoon Buffet at Cosmopolitan
We decided to try this place since it is relatively new place and the food is served in the individual dish instead of self serving from large container. The meat section was excellent and some of the salad were OK. But, avoid pizza and panini section and oriental section. You shouldn't have to pay $40 for dried pizza and oriental foods with the unknown origin (meaning it only looks like it). Desert section had wide selection and was OK. We liked Mac & Cheese station which make it on your order.

Jean Philippe Patisserie at Bellagio
We tried Strawberry Tart ($6.90), Key Lime Tart ($6.90) and Opera($6.90). Both tarts were excellent, but Opera was not impressive. We also tried Caramel (very smooth at $24/box) and Sable Breton (dry & brittle at $15, but it suppose to be better with coffee). A friend bought a panini sandwich to catch an early morning flight and commented that it is a snack size, not for a meal.

It is about well known Greek mythology and runs every hour on the hour. We have enjoyed the show, but the technology seems somewhat old.
Conservatory at Cosmopolitan (정원)
It is decorated as Chinese garden with Dragon since it was close to Chinese New Year.
Fountain Show at Bellagio
The fountain shoots off every 15 minutes (30 minutes in the afternoon) and the fountain lights are more visible after sunset. Watch the routine few times since the routine varies from one to next. The second routine we watched was better than the first one. I guess I liked Sinatra...

It is reviewed the best free show in Las Vegas. The free show goes on nightly at 7 PM, 8:30 PM, 10 PM and 11:30 PM and lasts about 30 minutes.
Volcano Fountain at Mirage
The volcano in front of the hotel erupts every 15 minutes after dark.

Attractions:
Gondola Rides at Venetian ($16/person) featuring serenading gondoliers.
Eiffel Tower observation deck ($10/person)
Hotels: if you search hard, you may find real good deals. We have stayed at Mirage for less than third of the listed price.
Alien Fresh Jerky on Hwy 15 in Baker, California
We are not the jerky fans, but we have tried Whisky jerky, Peppered jerky and Honey teriyaki jerky (most popular by store clerk) since this place was known for the beef jerky. We liked peppered jerky moire than honey teriyaki and whisky jerky. If you don't mind the alcohol after taste, whisky jerky may be for you. We also tried Pistachio garlic & onion, Glazed pecan w/ cinnamon and Dried pineapple w/ chamoy. pistachio and pecan were nothing special, but pineapple was sweet and salty and in a way refreshing.
