Valley of Fire tour (4*)

우리는 지난번 여행때 들리지 못한 곳 들을 보기 위해 불의 계곡 (Valley of Fire)으로 당일치기 여행을 다녀왔습니다.

We made a day trip to Valley of Fire to see the sights we missed during out last trip.

The Beehives (벌집)

"벌집"은 서쪽 입구를 통해 공원에 들어가면 가장 먼저 보게 되는 경관인데 정말 큰 벌집처럼 생겼습니다. 이것들은 지질학적 교차층에 의해 만들어진 지층인데 각 지층이 수 십년에 걸쳐 퇴적되어 오늘날 여러분이 보는 모양을 형성한 것 입니다. "벌집"의 홈은 지층이 형성될 때 물이나 바람으로 깍여진 것 입니다.

If you enter the park through the west entrance, the Beehives is the first sight that you will see. It really does look like large beehives. They are a formation created by geologic cross-bedding, which means the layers were deposited over the years to form the formation you see today. The grooves in the “beehives” were formed when there was water or wind that moved the material as it was forming.

파킹장에서 켐프장을 조금 지나가면 부러진 다리 같은 바위 형상이 있는데 이번에는 들어가지 못한다는 사인이 있더군요.

Within the short hike from the parking lot through the camping area, there is a rock formation which looks like broken bridge. But, on this visit, the road is closed and there is a sign not to trespass.

일곱자매 (Seven Sisters)

이곳은 방문객 센터에서 동쪽에 위치하고 있으며 도착하면 일곱 개의 암석 지층이 모여 있는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 이 거대한 붉은 탑은 주변 사암 퇴적물이 침식으로 깍여지고 남은 잔해입니다. 지층벽 전체에 여기저기 보이는 구멍들은 탑이 여전히 침식되고 있으며 결국 언젠가 완전히 파괴될 것임을 알려주는 것 입니다. 하지만 걱정하지 마세요. 지금으로부터 수백 년 후의 일이니.

이곳에는 간이 변소가 있는 작은 주차장이 있으며, 저희들 생각에는 이곳이 공원에서 피크닉을 즐기기에 가장 좋은 곳이라고 생각합니다.

Seven Sisters

It is located in the east side of visitor center and there is a cluster of seven rock formations. These giant red towers are all that remain after erosion stripped away the surrounding sandstone deposits. The unique holes that you see all over the Seven Sisters formation tell us that the towers are still eroding and will eventually be completely destroyed. But don't worry, that's hundreds of years from now.

There is a small parking lot with pit toilets and we think this is the best place to enjoy a picnic in the park.

파이어 웨이브 (The Fire Wave)

거리: 왕복 1.5마일

난이도: 쉬움~보통

이곳은 불의 계곡 (Valley of Fire)에서 가장 아름다운 곳 중 하나입니다. 흰색과 빨간색 얼룩말 무늬 사암은 사진 촬영에 아주 좋은 기회가 됩니다. 트레일 시작은 주차장에서 모래 경사면을 가로질러 내려갑니다. 그런 다음 트레일은 사방으로 다채로운 바위 언덕과 마운드로 뻗어나갑니다. 이곳은 트레일 표시판들이 있지만 자유롭게 돌아다니고 탐험할 수 있는 지역입니다. 각 방향대로 독특한 관점들이 있기때문이지요. 이 트레일은 그늘이 거의 없고 더운 날에는 바위에서 올라오는 열로 무척 뜨거울 수 있습니다. 관광객 수가 적을 때를 선호한다면 아침 일찍 또는 저녁 때 방문하도록 계획하세요.

The Fire Wave

Distance: 1.5 mile out-and-back

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

This is one of the most gorgeous spots in the Valley of Fire. White and red zebra print sandstone creates a great photo opportunity. The trail descends from the parking lot and across a sandy slope. Then, the trail becomes colorful rock hills and mounds that stretch out in every direction. This is area where you can wander freely and explore even though there are trail makers. Each direction reveals unique perspectives. This trail offers little shade and the rocks radiate heat on hot days. If you prefer low crowds, plan your visit for the beginning or the end of the day.

화이트 돔 트레일

지난번 방문 때 이 트레일이  너무 아름답고 흥미로웠고 또한 즐거운 시간을 보낸 기억에 다시 한번 돌아볼 계획이었습니다. 하지만 주차 공간을 기다리는 차들이 (길가 주차마저) 1마일 이상 길었고 얼마나 기다려야 할지 알 수 없어서 포기해야 했습니다. 다음 기회를 기다려봐야지요!!

White Domes Trail

Since this trail was so beautiful and interesting and we had enjoyed a lot during our last visit, we planned to try the trail again. But, we had to give up since the cars waiting for the parking space (even on the road) was more than a mile long and we were not sure how long we had to wait. Maybe next time!!

Tang Tang Tang

이곳은 우리가 라스베가스에 올 때마다 들리는 식당입니다. 이번 방문에는 손님과 함께들렸기에 이전 방문에서는 시도하지 못했던 몇 가지 요리를 시도할 기회가 있었습니다.

이번에는 차돌 설렁탕 ($17.99), 김치 만두국 ($17.99) 그리고 맛보기 보쌈 ($23.99)을 주문했습니다. 설렁탕은 국물이 좀 더 진했으면 했어요 그리고 김치 만두국은 괜찮았아요, 단지 만두를 직접 만드시는지는 모르겠습니다. 그러나 오늘의 메인 요리인 보쌈은 매우 맛있었습니다. 고기는 완벽하게 조리되었고 쌈 재료들도 양념이 재대로 되어 아주 행복한 시간 이었습니다.

우리는 보쌈 맛을 못잊어 이틀 후 점심 때 다시 들렸는데 보쌈 고기가 질긴 것이 큰 실망 이었습니다. 설렁탕은 깍두기 맛인데 맛이 변했는지 전보다 못했습니다. (평 4*)

Tang Tang Tang

This is the restaurant we visit whenever we come to Las Vegas. Since we had guests on this visit, we had the chance to try few dishes which we could not try on the previous visits. 

We ordered Beef Brisket Soup (차돌 설렁탕)($17.99) about the same could be more 진해해, Kimchi Dumpling Soup (김치 만두국) ($17.99) ok, Mini Bossam (맛보기 보쌈) ($23.99) was very good second time it was below average. Brisk soup was a little watery. It should have been more thick. Kimchi Dumpling soup was ok. We weren't sure if dumplings were made in house. However, today's main dish, Bossam, was very good. The meat was cooked perfectly and the wrap ingredients were seasoned well.

We have tried again two days later for lunch, but the Bossam wasn't as good as our previous visit. It was a big let down since we really enjoyed at the previous visit. The taste of  brisket soup is enhanced by radish kimchi, but something is changed and the taste of radish kimchi wasn't good as before.
