싱가포르 도착 후 첫 관광을 위해 호텔을 떠날 때 비가 내리기 시작해 나갈까 말까 망설였습니다. 하지만 싱가포르의 비는 오래 가지 않는다는 호텔 직원의 조언에 모험을 해보기로 결정을 하였습니다.

We were hesitating since it started to rain as we left the hotel for our first sightseeing in Singapore. But, hotel staff encouraged us to venture out since the rain in Singapore does not last long.

포트 캐닝 공원 (Fort Canning Park)

포트 캐닝 공원은 고요한 분위기와 생기 넘치는 자연 경관으로 유명한 곳입니다. 약 8헥타르에 달하는 복원된 풍경에는 ​​이제 싱가포르의 유산에서 영감을 받은 9개의 새로운 정원이 생겼습니다. 그들은 Pancur Larangan, Artisan's Garden, Sang Nila Utama Garden, Jubilee Park(1단계), Raffles Garden, First Botanic Garden, Farquhar Garden, Spice Garden 및 Armenian Street Park. (저희 평점: 3*)

Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is a spot famous for its serene atmosphere and lively natural scenery. Spanning about eight hectares, the restored landscape is now home to nine new gardens inspired by Singapore’s herite. They are the Pancur Larangan, Artisan’s Garden, Sang Nila Utama Garden, Jubilee Park (Phase 1), Raffles Garden, First Botanic Garden, Farquhar Garden, Spice Garden and Armenian Street Park. 배틀박스 탈출구 (Battlebox Escape Shaft)

This is once used as an escape shaft from the battlebox. The bunker was used by the British for underground command center during the World War II.

래플스 가든 (Raffle Garden)

이 정원은 현대 싱가포르의 창시자인 스탬포드 래플스 경(Sir Stamford Raffles)의 영향을 조성되었고 그의 이름을 따서 명명되었습니다. 여기에 소개된 식물 중 일부는 래플스 경이 동남아시아에서 접한 종류들도 포함됩니다. 래플스 하우스는 래플스 가든(Raffles Garden) 언덕 꼭대기에 위치해 있습니다. 래플스 하우스에서는 유명한 마리나 베이 샌즈 스카이라인을 배경으로 볼 수 있습니다.

Raffles Garden

This garden was named after and inspired by Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore. Some of the plants featured here include species that Raffles encountered in South-east Asia. The Raffles House is located at the top of the hill of Raffles Garden. From the Raffles house, you can spot the famous Marina Bay Sands skyline in the background.

포트 캐닝 등대 (Fort Canning Lighthouse)

Fort Canning Lighthouse

It is odd to find a lighthouse in the middle of city, but this lighthouse is a functioning replica of the original lighthouse that once sat atop Fort Canning Hill. The Fort Canning Lighthouse was formerly one of the 13 important lighthouses in the Straits of Malacca. It was originally a simple lantern attached to the top of a flagstaff in 1855. This was replaced by the Lighthouse in 1903. It is no longer in use but stands today as a legacy of its contribution to Singapore's maritime history.

올드 힐 스트리트 경찰서 (Old Hill Street Police Station)

1934년에 준공된 올드힐 스트리트 경찰서는 그 당시에는 비교적 큰 건물이었으며 현대적인 초고층 건물로 여겨졌습니다. 현란한 색상의 무지개 빛깔의 총 927개의 창문이 있는 싱가포르의 독특한 건물 중 하나입니다. 처음 4층의 창문은 동일한 색상 강도이지만, 5층과 6층은 캔틸레버식 테라스를 강조하기 위해 점진적으로 어두운 색상입니다.. 발코니, 기둥, 셔터 및 박공은 서로 보완하여 신고전주의 건축 스타일을 보여줍니다.

Old Hill Street Police Station

The Old Hill Street Police Station was built in 1934. At the time of its completion, it was a relatively large building and was considered a modern skyscraper. It is one of the distinctive buildings in Singapore, with a total of 927 windows in a rainbow of dazzling colors. The windows on the first four storeys have the same intensity of color, and the fifth and sixth storeys are progressively darker to accentuate the cantilevered terraces. Balconies, columns, shutters and gables complement each other, showing a neoclassical architectural style.

싱가포르에서의 첫 저녁식사

저녁 식사는 JUMBO Seafood와 Seafood Paradise CQ 중에서 고민하다가 일부 현지인의 추천으로 Jumbo Seafood로 결정했습니다. 예약없이 갔는데 그렇게 오래 (약 20분) 기다리지 않았습니다.

First Dinner at Singapore

For our dinner, we were struggling to make the choice between JUMBO Seafood and Seafood Paradise CQ, but decided on Jumbo Seafood with the recommendation from some of the locals. We went without the reservation, but we did not wait too long (about 20 minutes) for the table.

슈프림 볶음밥(22.00 SGD)은 훌륭하지는 않더라도 아주 좋았고 게와 함께 먹기 좋았습니다. 우리는 후추가루 던저니스 크랩 (Black Pepper Dungeness crap) (98.00 SGD)을 주문했는데 우리 둘이 먹기에 충분한 양이었습니다. 하지만 게를 먹는 것은 지저분할 것이라고 예상하세요. 앞치마를 준비해주는데는 그럴만한 이유가 있습니다.

서비스는 신속하고 위압적이지 않았지만 우리가 별로 원하지 않는 "새로운" 요리를 밀어붙인 것은 실망스러웠습니다. 게다가 "새" 요리인 소금에 절인 계란 새우(9.80 SGD)는 맛도 없었습니다. (저희 평점: 3*)

Supreme Fried rice (22.00 SGD) was very good, if not excellent and it was a good side dish for crab. We ordered Black Pepper Dungeness crab (98.00 SGD) and it was enough food for two of us. But expect that it would be messy eating the crab. They don't provide the apron for nothing. 

The service was prompt, not overbearing, but it was disappointing that they pushed "new" dish which we did not really wanted. On top of that, "new" dish, Salted Egg Prawn (9.80 SGD), wasn't even good. (Our review: 3*)

After the dinner, we strolled the famous Clarke Quay Mall on the way to the hotel.

Clarke Quay Mall:

On the banks of the Singapore River, this lively and perpetually jumping 24-hour waterfront destination features numerous restaurants, clubs, wine bars, entertainment facilities, and high-end retail shops that cater to the tourist.

Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore (시타딘 커넥트 시티 센터 싱가포르)

싱가폴 여행 일정에 좋은 위치 때문에 이 호텔을 선택했지만 머무르는 동안 편안한 시간을 보냈습니다. 방은 작은 편이었지만 깨끗했고 침대는 편안했습니다. 와이파이 이외는 다른 호텔 편의 시설들은 사용하지 않았기 때문에 평을 할 수가 없네요. 직원들은 전문적이었고 우리가 필요한 것들에 많은 도움이 되었습니다. (저희 평점: 3*)

Citadines Connect City Centre Singapore

We chose this hotel because of its location with our itinerary. But, we enjoyed our stay. Even though the room was small, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. No reviews for the hotel amenities since we did not use them except wi-fi. The staff were professional and helpful with our needs. (our review: 3*)

인터아시아 항공편의 경우 미국 국내 항공편에 비교하여 기내 수하물에 대한 제한 사항이 다릅니다. 허용되는 기내 수하물 개수 및 기타 제한 사항은 항공권 등급에 따라 다르니 주의하시고 크기 제한은 15.7 x 7.9 x 21.6인치 (40 x 20 x 55cm)이며 총 무게는 일반석의 경우 22파운드(10kg), 퍼스트/프레스티지의 경우 40파운드(18kg)를 초과할 수 없습니다.

For InterAsia flights, there are different restrictions for carry-on bags compared to US domestic flights. The number of carry-on bags allowed and other restrictions depends on the ticket class. But the size restriction is 15.7 x 7.9 x 21.6 inches (40 x 20 x 55 cm) and the total weight should not exceed 22 pounds (10 kg) for economy, 40 pounds (18 kg) for first/Prestige.

The beef stew was at least edible, but the bibimbap, a representative Korean dish, was terrible.

공항에서 시내까지 차편

공항에서 시내로 가는 방법에는 택시, 차량 공유, 대중교통 등 여러 가지 옵션이 있습니다. 그러나 큰 여행 가방을 들고 대중교통 이용은 힘들 것 같고 택시를 기다리는 줄은 너무 길어서 그랩 (Grab)을 이용하였습니다.

싱가포르에서 택시를 탈 때는 타기 전에 신용카드를 받는지 확인하세요. 일부 택시들은 신용카드 결제를 거부합니다.

Ride to City Center from airport

There are several options to travel to the city from the airport: taxi, rideshare or public transportation. However, the train was out of question because of the bags we carried. The taxi line was very long and we decided to use Grab.

When you ride a taxi in Singapore, make sure they accept the credit card before the ride. Some taxis refuse payment with the credit card.
