싱가포르 식물원 (Singapore Botanic Gardens)

시간: 매일 오전 5시부터 자정 12시까지

          국립 난초 정원(National Orchid Garden) 매일 오전 8시 30분~오후 7시

입장료: 정원은 무료이지만 난초 정원 입장료: 15 SGD 

               60세 이상(예: 여권 사본) 과 학생들은 할인을 받을 수 있습니다.

정원 속의 도시라는 싱가포르의 명성을 입증하는 식물원은 싱가포르 최초의 유네스코 문화유산입니다. 이정원은 1859년에 농업 원예 협회가 사용되지 않던 60 에이커의 농장을 오늘날의 인기 있는 휴양 정원으로 탈바꿈 시켰습니다. 넓은 부지는 조깅, 식사등 여유롭게 휴식을 즐기기에 가장 인기 있는 휴양지일 뿐만 아니라,  식물 및 원예 연구를 위한 주요 센터이기도 합니다. 하이라이트는 60,000종 이상의 식물과 난초가 있는 세계 최대 규모의 국립 난초 정원(National Orchid Garden) 입니다.

나심 입구 근처의 프리베 식당 (Prive Botanic Garden near Nassim Gate)

우리는 식물원에 있는 레스토랑에서 아침 식사를 하면서 싱가포르에서의 첫날을 시작했습니다.

헤이즐넛 카푸치노(9.00 SGD)와 함께 에그 로얄(21.00 SGD)을 주문했는데 놀랍게도 음식은 신선하고 매우 맛있었습니다. 식당은 매우 바빴고 직원이 두 명뿐인 서비스는 조금 느렸습니다.

        Seniors and students get a discount with the proof of age.

A testament to Singapore’s reputation as a City in a Garden, the Botanic Gardens is the country’s first UNESCO Heritage Site. Established in 1859 by the Agri-Horticultural Society, 60 acres of land were transformed from a disused plantation into the popular recreational garden you see today. As well as being a favorite recreation venue for jogging, dining or just lazing about, the sprawling grounds are also a leading center for botanical and horticultural research. Highlights include The National Orchid Garden, which boasts the world’s largest orchid display, with over 60,000 plants and orchid plants.

Prive Botanic Garden near Nassim Gate

We started our first whole day in Singapore with the breakfast at the restaurant in Botanic Gardens.

We ordered Egg Royal (21.00 SGD) with Hazelnut Cappuccino (9.00 SGD). For our surprise, the food was fresh and very tasty. The place was very busy and the service with only two staffs was a little slow.

시계탑 (Clock Tower)

대부분의 사람들은 국립 난초 정원(National Orchid Garden)으로 가는 길에 시계탑을 그저 지나 갑니다. 그러나 잠시 멈춰서 감탄할만한 가치가 있습니다. 이 정원에 20,000개 이상의 브로멜리아드를 기부한 Lady McNeice의 의뢰로 제작되었습니다.

Clock Tower

Most people walk right past the Clock Tower on the way to the National Orchid Garden. It’s worth stopping for a moment to admire. It was commissioned by Lady McNeice who donated more than 20,000 bromeliads to the Gardens.

국립 난초 정원

국립 난초 정원(National Orchid Garden)은 1,000종 이상의 난초와 2,000종 이상의 교배종을 전시하고 있는 세계 최대의 열대 난초 정원입니다. VIP 난초 정원에서는 전 세계 고위 인사의 이름을 딴 교배 난초를 만나실 수 있습니다. 탄훈시앙 (Tan Hoon Siang) Mist House에서는 수상 경력에 빛나는 교배종들을 만나보실 수 있습니다. 

The National Orchid Garden 

The National Orchid Garden is the largest tropical orchid garden in the world with more than 1,000 orchid species and 2,000 hybrids on display. In the VIP Orchid Garden, you find hybrid orchids named after dignitaries from around the world. In the Tan Hoon Siang Mist House, you’ll find award-winning hybrids.

백조의 호수 (Swan Lake)

메인 호수(Main Lake) 또는 제1호 호수(First Lake)로 알려졌던 백조의 호수(Swan Lake)는 싱가포르에서 가장 오래된 관상용 호수입니다. 호수가를 산책하며 식물, 물고기, 왕도마뱀 등 수많은 수중 생물들을 구경세요. 아니면 정자에서 휴식을 취하며 암스테르담에서 온 혹백조가 호수 표면을 위엄있게 미끄러지는 모습을 지켜볼 수도 있습니다.

The Swan Lake near Tanglin Entrance

Formerly known as the Main Lake or First Lake, the Swan Lake is the oldest known ornamental water feature in Singapore. Take a walk by the water's edge to get a good look at the numerous aquatic life within, including plants, fish and water monitor lizards. Or you can rest in the gazebo and watch the pair of mute swans from Amsterdam gliding majestically across the surface of the lake.

생강 정원 (Ginger Garden)

싱가포르 정원에서 가장 낭만적인 명소 중 하나인 생강 정원은 1999년에 개념화되었으며 2003년 10월에 공식적으로 시작되었습니다. 1헥타르의 면적에는 생강목(Zingiberales)의 변종 및 원예 품종 550 종이 전시되어 있습니다.

Ginger Garden

The Ginger Garden which is one of the most romantic attractions in the garden was conceptualized in 1999 and officially launched in October, 2003. An area of one hectare showcases over 550 species, varieties and horticultural cultivars of the plants of the ginger order (Zingiberales).

아마도 싱가포르 정원은 바록 난초 정원은 입장료가 있지만 싱가포르 최고의 무료 명소일 것입니다. 그리고 난초 정원 입장료는 충분한 가치가 있습니다. 저희는 3시간 조금 넘게 시간을 보냈지만, 볼거리가 너무 많아 천천히 즐기려면 1시간은 더 보낼 수도 있었습니다. 대부분의 산책로는 포장길이지만 걷기에 편한 운동화를 준비하시고 자외선 차단제, 모자, 물을 준비해가세요. (저희 평점: 4*)

This might be the best free attraction in Singapore even though the Orchid House does have an entry fee. But it’s well worth for the ticket. We spent a little more than 3 hours, but we could have spent another one hour to enjoy the garden. There is so much to see. Bring sunscreen, a hat, water and good walking shoes even though most of the paths are paved. (Our review: 4*)

맥스웰 푸드 센터 (Maxwell Food Center)

맥스웰 푸드 센터는 "호커" 가판대나 노점으로 구성되어 있습니다. 많은 현지 요리 상점들로 좋아하는 음식을 고르기가 거의 불가능합니다. 하지만 잘알려진 싱가포르 음식으로는 칠리 크랩, 새우 미(새우가 들어간 국수), 락사(다양한 단백질로 주문할 수 있는 매운 국수)가 있습니다. 우리는 딩딩홍 매운 냄비에서 칠리 새우와 집에서 만든 닭고기 요리를 먹었는데 새우 접시는 생각했던 것 보다 매웠지만 맛 있었고 닭고기 요리는 양념이 잘 돼었고 맛있게 먹은 점심이네요. (저의 평점: 3*)

그리고 코코넛 음료로 목을 축였습니다.

세서미 볼은 실망스러웠습니다. 저희 사는 동네에서 더 맛있는 것을 구할 수 있으니까요

Sesame Ball was disappointing sine we could get the better at home.

Maxwell Food Center

The Maxwell Food Center is made up of “hawker” stands or stalls. There are so many incredible local dishes that it’s impossible to narrow it down to a favor, but some of the well known Singaporean food includes chili crab, prawn mee (noodle soup with prawns) and laksa (a spicy noodle soup that can have different proteins). We had chili shrimp and home-made chicken at Ding Ding Hong Spicy Hot Pot. The shrimp dish was spicier than expected but delicious, and the chicken dish was well seasoned and delicious. 불아사 (Buddha Tooth Relic Temple) 

개장시간: 7A - 5P, 박물관: 9A - 5P

차이나타운 역사 지구의 맥스웰 푸드 센터 건너편에 위치한 불아사(Buddha Tooth Relic Temple) 및 박물관(Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum)은 화려하게 디자인된 인테리어와 불교 예술 및 역사에 대한 포괄적인 전시를 통해 수천 년이 넘는 문화를 소개해 줍니다. 2008년에 문을 연 이 사원 이름은 불교도들이 부처님의 왼쪽 송곳니를 저장, 전시하는 것에서 비롯되엇습니다. 이 송곳니는 인도 쿠시나가르에 있는 장례식 장작더미에서 회수하여 사원 부지에 전시되었습니다. 4층에 있는 사리탑이라고 불리는 황금 언덕 같은 320 kg의 구조물안에 전시되어 있습니다. 사원에는 불상이 가득하며 멋진 옥상 정원이 있습니다.ㅇ

이 당나라 스타일의 중국 불교 사원은 주지스님 Shi Fa Zhao가 현지 및 해외 컨설턴트의 도움을 받아 구상하고 설계했습니다. 준비하는데만 S$7,500만 달러가 소요되었으며 당나라 건축의 다양한 요소를 기반으로 합니다. 건물의 디자인은 우주를 나타내며 불교 문화의 상징인 불교 만다라에서 영감을 받았습니다. (저의 평점: 4*)

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

Hour: 7 A - 5 P, Museum: 9 A - 5 P

Located in the historic district of Chinatown across from Maxwell Food Center, the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum’s richly designed interiors and comprehensive exhibits on Buddhist art and history tell stories of culture over thousands of years old. Opened in 2008, the temple gets its name from what the Buddhists regard as the left canine tooth of Buddha, which has been recovered from his funeral pyre in Kushinagar, India and displayed on the temple’s grounds. It is prominently displayed on a 320 kg. gold mound like structure called a stupa on the 4th floor. The temple is packed with Buddha figures and has a nice rooftop garden.

This Tang-styled Chinese Buddhist temple was conceptualized and designed by the temple’s Chief Abbot Venerable Shi Fa Zhao, with the help of local and overseas consultants. It costs S$75 million to set up, and is based on various elements of Tang Dynasty architecture. The building’s design was inspired by the Buddhist Mandala, a symbol of Buddhist culture that represents the universe. (Our review: 4*)

신성한 유물과 거대한 사리탑

3층에 있는 불교문화박물관에는 뼈, 혀 사리 등 부처의 귀중한 유물이 전시되어 있으며, 4층 성광당에는 사찰의 가장 중요한 장식물이 전시되어 있습니다. 불아사리는 무려 320kg에 달하는 금으로 만들어진 거대한 사리탑에 모셔져 있으며 그 중 234kg은 신자들이 기증한 것입니다. 사리실에는 승려들만 들어갈 수 있지만, 방문객들은 공개 관람 구역에서 치아 유물을 볼 수 있습니다.

Sacred relics and giant stupa

The Buddhist Culture Museum on the third floor holds an array of revered artifacts of the Buddha, such as bone and tongue relics, and the Sacred Light Hall on the fourth floor contains the temple’s centerpiece. The Buddha Tooth Relic is housed in a giant stupa weighing a whopping 320 kilograms of gold, of which 234 kilograms were donated by devotees. Only monks are allowed into the relic chamber, but visitors will be able to see the tooth relic from the public viewing area.

가든스 바이 베이로 가는 길에 마리나 베이 샌즈에서 가든 워크(Garden Walk) 표지판을 보실 수 있습니다. 그냥 지나 치세요. 볼 것도 별로 없고 경치도 수고에 비해 별로에요.

가든스 바이 더 베이 (Gardens by the Bay)

일정이 허락한다면 늦은 오후에 Gardens by Bay에 가보세요. 먼저 클라우드 포레스트 돔과 플라워돔을 구경하고 슈퍼트리 그로브를 방문하여 가든스 바이 베이 조명 쇼를 감상하세요. 가기 전에 해당 사이트에서 현재 일정을 확인하십시오. 쌍둥이 돔은 냉각 온실(Cooled Conservatory) 또는 역 온실이라고도 합니다. 온실은 온대 기후에서 열대 식물이 자랄 수 있는 열대 환경을 만드는 데 사용되는 반면, 두 개의 돔은 냉각되어 온대 식물이 자라는 지중해와 같은 기후를 만듭니다. 저희가 방문한 날은 플라워돔이 유지보수 공사로 인해 문을 닫았습니다. 대신 꽃의 환상 (Flower Fantasy)를 볼까했으나 이미 오전에 싱가포르 식물원을 다녀왔기 때문에 클라우드 포레스트 돔만 방문하기로 했습니다.

Gardens by the Bay

Hours: The Gardens (Daily, 05:00 – 02:00) 

            The Domes and OCBC Skyway (Daily, 09:00 – 21:00 (last ticket sale is 20:00)

If your schedule allows, try to be at the Gardens by Bay in the late afternoon. You may visit the Cloud Forest Dome and Flower Dome first and visit the Supertree Grove and watch the Gardens by Bay light show. Please check their site for a current schedule before you go. The twin domes are Cooled Conservatories, or sometimes referred to as reverse greenhouses. While greenhouses are used in temperate climates to create tropical environments for tropical plants to grow, the two domes are cooled to create a mediterranean-like climate for temperate plant. On the day of our visit, the Flower Dome was closed for the maintenance. Instead we thought about visiting the Flower Fantasy, but we decided to visit only Cloud Forest Dome since we already visited the Botanical garden in the morning,

클라우드 포레스트 돔

클라우드 포레스트 돔은 동남아시아, 중남미 지역 1,000미터(3,300피트)에서 3,000미터(9,800피트) 사이 열대 고지대의 시원하고 습한 조건을 모사합니다. 7층 높이의 산꼭대기 숲의 환경과 기후를 재현하는 9개의 독특한 구역으로 조성된 거대한 바이오돔입니다. 온도 조절이 가능한 대형 돔에는 나선형 통로가 있으며 30미터 이상 높이에서 쏟아지는 세계에서 가장 높은 실내 폭포 중 하나가 있습니다. 봉인된 문을 지나 들어서면 거대한 폭포가 만들어낸 분출된 공기를 가장 먼저 느끼실 것입니다. 산책로를 따라 내려오면서 꽃과 열대 식물이 바뀌는 것이(꼭대기인 로스트 월드(Lost World)에서 시작하라고 직원이 제안함) 다양한 고도에서 그것들이 어떻게 변하는지를 모사합니다.

Cloud Forest Dome

It is a gigantic biodome showcasing nine unique zones that recreates the environment and climate of a 7-story high mountaintop forest, replicating the cool moist conditions found in tropical highland regions between 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) and 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) above sea level, found in South-East Asia, Middle- and South America. The large, climate-controlled dome has spiralling walkways and one of the world’s tallest indoor waterfalls that rains down from over 30 meters above. As you enter the sealed doors, the gush of air created by the enormous waterfall hits you first. The flowers and tropical vegetation changes as you come down along the walkway (Staff suggestion to start from the top, Lost World), mimicking how it would at different altitudes.

슈퍼트리 그로브 (Supertree Grove)

가든스 바이 더 베이에는 총 18개의 슈퍼트리가 있는데 그 중 12개가 슈퍼트리 그로브에 있습니다. 각 슈퍼트리의 높이는 25~50미터이며 162,900종 이상의 브로멜리아드, 난초, 양치류, 열대 꽃등산식물이 심어져 있습니다. 슈퍼트리는 나무 같이 설계되었을 뿐만 아니라 기능도 나무와 같습니다.

가든스 바이 베이 라이트 쇼

빛의 쇼를 즐기는 방법은 두 가지가 있습니다. 하나는 OCBC 스카이웨이 높은 곳에서 바라본 전경입니다. 하지만 공연 중에 스카이웨이에 있을 수 있는 시간은 15분밖에 되지 않기 때문에 운이 좋아야 합니다. 다른 방법은 슈퍼트리 중 하나의 콘크리트 바닥에 눕는 것입니다. 하지만 좋은 자리를 차지하려면 조금 일찍 도착하세요. 모든 누을 공간이 꽉 채워질 가능성이 높으므로 늦게 온 사람들은 땅에 누워 구경하여야 할 것입니다.

Supertree Grove

There are 18 Supertrees in all at Gardens by the Bay and 12 of them are at the Supertree Grove. Each supertree is 25-50 meters tall and over 162,900 varieties of bromeliads, orchids, ferns, and tropical flowering climbers have been planted on it. They are not only designed to resemble trees, but also function like them.

Gardens by Bay Light Show

There are two ways to enjoy the light show. One is the panoramic view from up high from OCBC walkway. But, you have to be lucky to be on the skyway during the show since you get only 15 minutes on it. The other way is to lay down on the concrete base of one of supertree. But, be sure to be there a little early to get a good spot. Every square inch of butt real estate is likely to be filled so late comers will have to settle for the ground.

OCBC 스카이웨이 (OCBC Skyway)

OCBC 스카이웨이(OCBC Skyway)라고 알려진128m 높이의 공중 플랫폼은 두 개의 슈퍼트리를 연결합니다. 이 스카이웨이에서 정원과 마리나 베이 샌즈를 다른 각도에서 구경할 수가 있습니다. 스카이웨이는 수용 인원이 제한되어 있어 관광객은 최대 15분까지만 스카이웨이에 머무를수가 있습니다. 또한 인원 제한으로 기다리는 시간이 길어질 수 있습니다.

OCBC Skyway

Two of the Supertrees are connected by this fun 128-meter aerial platform known as the OCBC Skyway. It offers a different view of the garden and Marina Bay Sands. The Skyway can only accommodate so many people so everyone is allowed a maximum of 15 minutes. The limit on the number of people on the skyway also means that the wait time could be very long.

쥬라기네스트 푸드홀 (Jurassic Nest Foodhall)

개장시간: 11 A - 9 P

호커찬(Hawker Chan)에 대한 많은 이야기를 듣었기에 소이 소스 치킨 라이스(S$8.80)를 먹어 보아야만했습니다. 그러나 그것은 큰 실망이었고 왜 그렇게 유명한지 이유를 알 수가 없었습니다. (저희 평점: 1*)

또 한가지는 Took Lae Dee에서 칠리 & 바질 돼지고기 밥(S$10.00)을 먹어봤습니다. 이것은 다 먹지도 못할 정도로 너무나 맛이 없었습니다. (저희 평점: 1*)

After hearing about Hawker Chan, we had to try Soy Sauce Chicken Rice (S$8.80). It was a big disappointment and we could not figure out the reason for the fame. (Our review: 1*)

We also tried Chilli & Basil Pork Rice (S$10.00) at Took Lae Dee. It was worse and we could not even finish the dish. (Our review: 1*)
