미네아폴리스 서쪽 지역에서 친구들과 저녁 먹을 곳을 찾다 스파소에 들렸습니다. 식당은 작은 쇼핑몰에 있어 주차는 문제가 없었습니다. We found Spasso on the internet while looking for a place to have a dinner in the western area of Minneapolis. The parking is not a problem since it is located in the small strip mall.

밥 위에 얹어 나오는 소고기 갈비 (24불) 는 굉장히 연했고 아주 맛 있었습니다. 보드카로 구운 소세지와 파스타 (16불) 접시는 별로 특별한 것도 없이 보통 정도였습니다. 2014년도 제일 맛있는 파스타집으로 뽑혔다는 것이 신기합니다. 글쎄 어느 접시로 이겼는지 알아 보고 먹어보아야 할 것 같읍니다. 장작 난로에서 굽는 투스칸 닭고기 피자는 맛 먹었으나 불랙 앤 불루 콥 살라드는 신선하지가 못했고 좀 더 향상 시켜야 할 것 같읍니다. 근데 가격에 비해 어떤 접시들은 음식양이 좀 적은 듯 싶었습니다.

Beef Short Ribs ($24) on the rice was tender and was really good. Vodka Grilled Sausage with Vodka Source Pasta ($16) was average at the best which makes wonder the award for best pasta in 2014. Maybe we should have asked them which pasta dish won the award. Tuscan Pollo Pizza ($12) cooked in wood-fired brick oven was tasty. Black & Blue Cobb Salad ($15) was not fresh and could use some improvement. The portion of some dishes are too small for the price.

토요일 저녁이라 그런지 자리 날 때 까지 약 20분 기다렸고요 서비스는 종업원들이 손님들이 무엇이 팔요한가 좀 더 실펴보면 좋았을 듯합니다. 그러나 한 번 정도는 들려 볼 만 곳입니다. 나중에 알았지만 옆집 술가게에서 술을 사서 가지고와 마시면 따로 수수료가 없다고하네요.

It was about 20 minute wait for the table on the Saturday evening visit. The service could have been better if the waiter was a little more attentive to the need of guests. But, we recommend to check it out at least once. We found out later that there is no bottle charge if you buy the bottle at the liquor store next to the restaurant.

스파소 옆에 스누피 아이스크림 가게가 있기에 후식은 이곳 아이스크림 가게에서 먹기로 하였습니다. 후식으로 스누피즈 퍼지 초크릿 케이크 (6불49전)를 주문했습니다. 배도 부르기도 했지만 저희 넷이서 하나만 시켰는데 음식이 나온 것을 보고 정말 잘 했다는 생각이 듭니다. 양이 무척 많드라고요. 그리고 꽤 맛 있게 먹었습니다. 한 번 들려 보세요. 실내 장식은 빨간 색으로 장식한 것이 옛적 아이스크림 가게를 생각케합니다.

Since we found that there is the Snuffy's Malt Shop right next to Spasso, we decide to have the dessert at the Snuffy's. For our dessert, we ordered Snuffy's Fudge Brownie Delight ($6.49). We were glad that four of us ordered only one order since it was huge. It was a really good dessert. You may want to try it. The interior reminded us the old ice cream parlor with a lot of red color.

Twin City (not Well Known) Attractions -1 (투윈 시티의 숨겨진 명소들 -1)

투윈시티 (미네아폴리스와 세인트 폴) 내에서 외부 방문객들이 많이 찾지 않는 곳들을 모아 보았습니다. The attractions in twin city area are not frequented by the visitors.

스톤 아치 다리 (Stone Arch Bridge)

미네아폴리스 다운 타운 근처 세인트 앤소니 폭포에 있는 스톤 아치 다리는 원래 철교 였습니다. 이 다리는 1883년에 준공 됐고 전국 토목공학협회에서 주요 지형지물로 지정 하였습니다. 1994년에 도보 및 자전거 통로로 전환 됐으며 이 다리에서 보는 세인트 앤소니 폭포 전경은 일품입니다. 이 곳은 한시간 정도 천천히 산보하며 도시와 미시시피 강 전경을 즐기기에 좋은 곳 입니다. 또한 시간이 되면 제분소 박물관과 거스리 극장을 들리시기를.

The Stone Arch Bridge is a former railroad bridge crossing the Mississippi River at St Anthony Falls in downtown Minneapolis. It was completed in 1883 and is recognized as a National Civil Engineering Landmark. In 1994, the bridge was converted into a pedestrian and bike trail and offers a panoramic view of St Anthony Falls. It is a good place to spend an hour or so for the leisurely stroll and enjoy the view of city and Mississippi River. If time allows, Mill Museum and Guthrie Theater are near by.

Places to Make a Quick Stop in Minnesota - 1 (미네소타를 여행하면서 잠시 쉬고 갈 곳들 -1 편)

미네소타에서 목적지로 가기보다는 지나 가는 길에 들릴만 한 곳들을 실어 봅니다. 찾을 때마다 계속 올리께요. These places won't be your destination, but interesting enough to make a quick stop. We will update it as we find an interesting places.

Jolly Green Giant (쾌활한 녹색 거인)

Blue Earth, Minnesota

하이웨이 90번을 따라 운전하시면 미네소타 (Minnesota) 불루 어스 (Blue Earth)에 있는 "쾌활한 녹색 거인" (Jolly Green Giant) 이라는 동상이 있는 곳에서 짧은 휴식 시간을 가지세요.
하이웨이 90번에서 남쪽으로 0.8 Km 떨어진 곳에 있는 이 섬유유리 동상의 높이는 16.7 미터이고 미네소타 벨리 통조림 공장에서 생산하는 녹색 거인 상품의 마스코트 입니다.

If you are traveling along Highway 90, the statue of "Jolly Green Giant" at Blue Earth, Minnesota would make a good place for a quick leg-stretching stop. This fiber glass statue is located at a half-mile south from I-90 and is 55 feet tall. The "Jolly Green Giant" is the mascot of Green Giant brand of Minnesota Valley Canning Company.

Places to Visit in Iowa (2) (아이오와 여행기 (2))

미조리를 지나 다시 아이오와에 들려 아마나 마을 (Amana Village)과 구원의 동굴 (Grotto of the Redemtion)를 구경할 예정입니다. As we travel through Iowa again from Missouri, our plan included the stops at Amana Village and Grotto of the Redemption.

폴 도버스타인 신부가 폐염으로 생명이 위험했을 때 생명을 구해 준다면 성 마리아를 위해 사당를 짖겠다고 약속을 하였는데 그 약속을 지켰습니다. 도버스타인 신부는 40년에 결쳐 사당과 그 주변의 돌 구조를 지었습니다. 일을 하다 손이 갈라져 피가 시멘트에 물들면 피흘리지 않고는 구원이 없다고 말하곤 하였습니다. 신부는 주변의 일꾼들과 그가 세계 곳곳을 여행을 하면서 구한 돌들과 남극을 포함하여 구한 돌들을 가지고 세계에서 가장 큰 동굴을 지었는데 도시 한 불럭을 차지하고 있습니다. 이 동굴은 그리스도의 삶을 그린 아홉개의 작은 동굴들이 합성으로 이루어졌습니다.

When Father Paul Dobberstein almost died of pneumonia, he promised the Virgin Mary a shrine and kept his promise. He built the shrine and its surrounding rock structures for more than 40 years. When his hands would crack and bleed into the cement, he would tell the concerned parishioners that "There isn't any redemption without a little blood." The grotto which was built with the help of local laborers and rocks imported from his travel all over the world including the South Pole takes up an entire city block, the largest grotto in the world. It is a composite of nine separate grottos, each portrays a scene in the life of Christ.

도버스타인 신부 흉상/Bust of Father Dobberstein

구원의 동굴 옆에 도버스타인 신부를 소개하고 화석, 돌, 광물들을 전시하는 박물관과 성 베드로와 바울 성당이 있습니다. 이 구원의 동굴은 보아야만 믿을 수 있을 정도의 놀라운 곳입니다. 아마 이곳이 아이오와의 숨겨진 보물인가 봅니다.

소문난 집이 먹을 것 없다는 말이 있듯이 이곳이 평이 좋아 왜 딴곳이지만 들리기로 하였지만 기대치가 될려나 좀 걱정이 돼긴했스빈다. 그러나 보고나니 정말 잘 왔다는 생각입니다. 조금 돌아가는 길이라도 근처에 있으면 꼭 들리시기를 추천합니다.  웨스트 벤드는 다른 볼 것이 없는 작은 마을이고 꽤 외떨어져 있으니 간식거리나 음료수들을 준비하면 도움이 될 것입니다.

There is St Peter & Paul Church and a museum next to the grotto. The museum tells the story of Father Dobberstein and displays fossils, rocks and minerals. The Grotto of Redemption is an amazing place where you have to see it to believe it. This might be Iowa's best kept secret.

Even though it is located away from any other significant towns, we decided to try it and it was well worth the extra miles. If you are in the general area, we strongly recommend for the visit. West Bend is a very small town with nothing else and you may want to prepare snacks and drinks.



아마나 군락 (Amana Colonies)

7개의 역사적 마을로 구성된 아마나 군락은 독일에서 이민온 종교적 경건파들로 이루어진 마을이고 19세기 중간의 종교적 공동사회의 단면을 볼 수 있는 곳입니다. 거의 80년 동안 아마나 군락은 거의 외부에서 들여오는 물건 없이 지급자족을 하였답니다. 이 독립된 경제사회는 그들만의 독특한 기술과 농업으로 이루어 질 수 있었습니다. 아마 제일 잘 알려진 물건은 아마나 냉장고일텐데 2006년에 팔려 이제는 월풀(Whirlpool)로 이름이 바뀌었습니다.

The seven historical villages of the Amana Colonies which is the settlement by German Pietists offer a glimpse into a religious communal society dating back to the mid 1800's. For almost 80 years, the Amana Colonies maintained an almost self-sufficient local economy importing very little. They achieved the independence with their specialized skills and farming. The mostly widely known product is Amana refrigerator which is part of Whirlpool since 2006.

옥수수 창고를 개조해서 만든 방문자 센터에서 이 군락에 관한 더 많은 정보를 얻을 수 있으며 매일 이곳에서 주선하는 걸으면서 부락을 돌아보는 관광을 할 수 있습니다. 한 달에 두 번은 음식과 술을 맛 볼 수 있는 특별 관광을 할 수도 있습니다.
The visitor center which is a converted corn crib provides additional information and offers daily walking tours including a special twice-month food/drink sampling walking tour.

1858년에 지워진 이 건물은 현지 물건과 수입 물품으로 꽉 차여있는 상점입니다. 제너랄 스토어라는 가게 이름이 말 하듯이 사탕에서부터 부엌 물건까지 온 갓 것을 파는 잡화상 같은 곳 입니다. 이 곳 토산믈들은 질이 좋은 것으로 유명하였는데 이제는 많은 것들이 수입품들이더군요.

The building was built in 1858 ans the store is jam-packed with things both local and import. As the name implied, you will find things from candy to kitchen tools. The products produced locally used to be known for their quality, but very little is made locally these days.

The giant walnut rocking chair which was built in 1983 by Schanz Furniture is 11 feet tall and weighs 670 lbs. The Iowa's Largest Rocking Chair is displayed at the Broom & Basket Shop in West Amana village.

그리고... (And...)

 이 빵집은 그날 구운 빵이 다 팔리면 문을 닫는데네요. 그래서 저희들은 맛을 볼 기회가 없었지만.
The bakery closes whenever the baked goods are sold out. It meant we missed the opportunity to taste the goods.

The store had number of wines made with other fruits instead of grape, and they were unusual, but good.

올리브 가든 (Olive Garden)

여행 중에는 가능하면 저녁은 연쇄점을 피하려 하였지만 오늘은 친구를 만나기 위해 예외였습니다. 오늘은 아이오와 코랄빌에 있는 오리브 가든에서 저녁을 먹었습니다. 버터 소스로 만든 틸라피아 (12불 95전), 새우 베스비오 (14불 95전), 닭 알프레도 (14불 50전)을 주문했는데 연쇄점치고 괜찮은 편이었습니다.

While we are traveling, we tried to avoid the chain restaurants for the dinner, but today was the exception since we are meeting the friends. We had a dinner at the Olive Garden in Coralville, Iowa. We ordered Tilapia with Brown Butter Source ($12.95), Shrimp Vesuvio ($14.95), and  Chicken Alfredo ($14.50). They were decent enough for the chain restaurant food.

미네소타 미네아폴리스 (Minneapolis, Minnesota)에서 일리노이 시카고 (Chicago, Illinois)로 가는 여행은 대개 연방 고속도로 94번을 따라 위스칸신 (Wisconsin) 주를 지나서 가는데 이번에는 흔히들 가지 않는 아이오와 (Iowa) 주를 통해 가보기로 하였습니다. The usual route to Chicago, Illinois from Minneapolis, Minnesota is along the Highway 94 through Wisconsin. But, on this occasion, we decided to try the less traveled road through Iowa.

The Bily Clocks Museum

아이오와에서 첫번째 들린 곳은 스필빌 (Spillville)에 있는 빌리 시계 (Bily Clock)박물관 입니다. 농부인 두 형제가 긴 겨울은 시계를 만들면서 보냈습니다. 한 가지 특히한 것은 시계를 돌리는 모든 기계 장치를 직접 만들었다는 것입니다. 그래서 시계 하나가 고장이 났는데 최신 공학으로도 어떻게 만들어졌는지 몰라 고치지를 못한다고 합니다. 시계에 새겨진 조각들은 집에서 56 Km 이상 여행을 다녀 본 경험이 없는 형제들이 책이나 우편 엽서에서 보고 새긴 것들이라고 합니다.

Our first stop in Iowa is the Bily Clocks Museum in Spillville, Iowa. Two farming brothers spent long winters carving clocks with their own time-keeping mechanism. Even though one of the clocks is not working, the modern engineering has not figured out their mechanism to fix it. Since they never traveled more than 35 miles from home, the scenes and figures the brothers carved came from the pictures in the books and postcards.

형제들이 만든 시계 중 "미국 개척자 역사 시계"는 미국 국가를 연주하고 57개의 역사적 인물들이 새겨져 있습니다. 이 시계를 포드 자동차 설립자인 헨리 포드가 10 억원에 사겠다는 제안을 형제들이 거절한 이유는 이 모든 시계들을 자기들이 죽은 후 하나 밖에 없는 누이 동생의 생개를 위해서 만들었기 때문이었다고 합니다. 시계들을 만든 솜씨는 정말 정교했고 들릴 기회가 있으면 후회하지는 않을 것 입니다. 불행이도 박믈관 안에서는 사진을 못 찍게 하든군요. 사진으로 그 정교함을 다 볼 수는 없겠지만.

One of their clocks, American Pioneer History Clock, plays "America the Beautiful" and features 57 historical figures. Henry Ford offered $1 million for it, but they refused to sell since the clocks were made for their sister's future after they died. The clocks are exquisite handwork and the museum is well worth the visit. Unfortunately, it was not allowed to take pictures inside of museum. Even if we could take the pictures, they won't do the justice for the beauty of clocks.

덤으로 박물관 이층에는 체코 작곡가 드보락이 1893년에 가족과 함께 있었을 때 남긴 유품들이 전시되어 있습니다. 뉴욕에 있을 때 고향 음식이 그리웠는데 함께 일하던 조교가 이 곳에서 고향 음식을 먹을 수 있을 것이라고하여 들렸다고 합니다.

For the extra, the second floor of museum displays the artifacts of famous Czech composer, Antonin Dvorak, who stayed with his family in the summer of 1893. While he was staying in New York, he was craving for the Czech food. He came to Spilville because one of his assistants told him that he can get the real Czech food here.

기원 전 1400년에서 750년에 이르는 우드랜드 시대는 미시시피 강 윗쪽에서 미시간 호수 동쪽까지 연결되는 지역에 있던 에피지 마운드 조립자 문화라고 알려져 있습니다. 에피지란 그리스어 "Epygious"에서 따온  "모양의"란 뜻입니다. 동물 모양의 마운드는 에피지 마운드 문화의 상징입니다. 미시시피 강을 따라 아이오와와 위스칸신 지역에 가장 흔한 마운드 모양은 곰과 새 입니다. 조감도를 보면 마운드 모양이 더 확실히 보이네요. 별로 남은 기록이 없어 근원이나 무엇을 뜻하는지 아직도 미궁입니다.

The Late Woodland Period (1400 - 750 BC) from the Upper Mississippi River to the east of Lake Michigan is known as the culture known as the Effigy Mounds Builders. The word "effigy" is from the Greek word Epygious meaning "in the shape of". The animal shaped mounds are symbol of the Effigy Mounds Culture. The bear and bird are more common mound shapes in Iowa and Wisconsin along the Mississippi. The aerial view shows the shape of mound more clearly. Without any written records and surviving tribal stories, the mound's origin and meaning are still mystery.

큰 곰 마운드/Great Bear Mound

곰의 모양을 따라 잔디를 깍아 놓았지만 땅에 서서 전체적 모양을 알아 보기엔 좀 힘드네요. 위의 사진 같이 하늘 위에서 보면 모를까!
Even though the grass was mowed along the shape of mound, it is very difficult to recognize the shape of bear from the ground. As shown in the picture above, you can probably see them from the above.

3.2 Km 거리의 약간 언덕진 순환 오소길을 따라 가면 여러 개의 에피지 마운드와 언덕에서 내려다 보이는 미시시피 강 경치를 볼 수 있습니다. 학교 방학 전인 5월 말이라서인지 공원은 분주하지 않아 화이어 포인트 오솔길을 걸으며 여유롭고 조용한 시간을 가질 수 있었습니다.

A relatively steep two-mile loop trail leads to several burial and effigy mounds and view of the  Mississippi river along the bluff. The park was not crowded when we visited in the late May and we were able to enjoy the quite and  leisurely time along the Fire Point Trail.

독수리 바위 전망대에서는 11월과 3월 사이에 강가에 둥지를 치는 흰머리 독수리들을 보기가 쉽다고 하네요. 그러나 5월에 들린 저희들도 운이 좋게 몇마리를 볼 기회가 있었습니다.

Eagle Rock overlook is an excellent place to spot bald eagles which nests along the rivers. Even though November through March is the best time to see the eagles, but we were lucky to see them in May.

가을 단풍 때 경치가 훨신 좋을 것 같은데 언제 다시 이곳에 올런지 기약이 없네요.
The view in the fall might be a lot more beautiful, but we are not sure when we could come back.

Pike's Peak State Park (파이크 픽 주 공원)

에피지 마운드에서 남쪽으로 가다 보면 30분쯤 지나 파이크 픽 주 공원에 도착합니다.
Heading south from the Effigy Mounds, you come to Pike's Peak State Park in about 30 minutes.

1805년에 정부에서 파이크 중위를 미시시피강 주변에 군기지를 세울 곳을 찾도록 보냈습니다. 파이크 중위는 본인의 이름을 따 지은 현 공원 위치를 군기지로 정했으나 정부는 강 건너에 군기지를 지었습니다. 공원 지역은 개발된 적이 없이 백인들이 오기 전 상태로 남아있고 동물들 모양의 에피지 마운드가 있습니다.

In 1805, the government sent Lt Pike to explore the Mississippi River valley and select locations for a military fort. Pike chose the park site which now bears his name, but the government built the fort across the river. The land in the park was never cleared and remains as it was before the advent of white settlement and also has the effigy mounds in the shape of animals.

파이크 픽은 미시시피 강가에 제일 높은 절벽인데 이 곳에 있는 전망대에서 보는 미시시피 강과 강 건너로 펼처져있는 위스칸신 주의 경치는 일품입니다.  전망대는 주차장에서 멀지 않은 곳에 있습니다.
Pike's Peak is the highest bluff on the Mississippi River and the overlook which is a short distance from the parking lot offers the beautiful view of Wisconsin and Mississippi River.

Dubuque, IA:

드뷰크 시는 아이오와, 일리노이 그리고 위신칸신 등 세 주가 만나는 곳에 있으며 아이오와에 몇 안되는 언덕이 있는 도시 중 하나 입니다.
 Dubuque lies at the junction of three states: Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin and one of few large cities in Iowa with hills.

미시시피 강변길은 미시시피 강둑을 따라 가는 0.8 Km의 보도 입니다. 드부크에 있는 이 강변길은 어메리카 강과 아이오와 다이어즈빌 있고 전국적으로 잘 알려져 있는 꿈의 구장 (Field of Dreams) 을 연결하는 71Km의 강변길의 일부분 입니다. 이 강변길을 따라 흥미로운 새 것과 옛 것들을 볼 수 있습니다. 저희들은 보도를 따라 있는 조각품들을 보며 한가로운 산보 시간을 가질 수 있었습니다. 또한 옛 명물들 중의하나인 드뷰크 스타 (Dubuque Star) 맥주 공장을 볼 수 있고요.

Mississippi Riverwalk is a half mile long walkway along the Mississippi riverbank. The Riverwalk is part of a 44-mile trail connecting America's River to the nationally renowned Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa. Along the Mississippi Riverwalk, you will see both old and new points of interest. We had the leisurely walk while appreciating the sculptures along the riverwalk and passed the Dubuque Star Brewery which is one of old sights.

다른 오랜 유적 중에 하나는 강변길 북쪽 끝에 있는 총탄 타워 (Shot Tower) 인데 미 육군에서 사용하던 머스킷 총 산탄을 만들 때 사용되었습니다. 이 타워는 1856년에 새워졌고 드뷰크에서 가장 오래된 건물 중의 하나 입니다.

The other old interest is the Dubuque Shot Tower at the north end of riverwalk. It is originally used to produce lead shot for the US military's muskets. It was built in 1856 and it is among the oldest surviving structures in Dubuque.

페늘롱 플레이스 엘레베이터는 강식 철도이며 세계에서 가장 짧고 경사가 급한 관광 철도 입니다. 4가에서 페늘롱 플레이스까지의  거리는 90 미터이며 57 미터의 고도입니다. 130년을 사용한 엘레베이터치고는 큰 흔들림 없는 승차 경험이었습니다.

The Fenelon Place Elevator is a funicular railway and is known as the world's shortest, steepest scenic railway. It is 296 feet in length and elevates 189 feet from Forth Street to Fenelon Place. The ride up the elevator was surprisingly smooth and swift that's been running for more than 130 years.

엘리베이터를 타고 위에 도착하면 역사 깊은 드뷰크 상가 지역, 세 개의 주를 보는 경치, 그리고 미시시피 강 전경이 눈 앞에 펼쳐집니다. 저녁늘에 보이는 드뷰크는 조용하고 평화스럽게 보이는 도시이던군요. 그런데 위에 있는 전망대가 그리 넓지가 않아 관광객이 많으면 무척 복잡할 수 있습니다.

Once you reach the top of elevator, the beautiful view of the historic Dubuque business district, the three states and Mississippi river will be in front of you. The view of Dubuque at the dusk was very quite and peaceful. The area of overlook at the top of elevator is small and you may be viewing the scenery over people's head if there are many visitors.

평가에 의하면 드뷰크 미시시피 강 박물관과 수족관은 어린애들이 있는 가족들에게 더 적당하다고하여 저희들은 안들리기로 했습니다.
Since the review indicates that National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is for the family with young children, we decided to skip it.


오늘의식사 (Today's Meal):

아침은 맥도날드에서 간단히하고 점심으로 Sweet Stop & Sandwich Shoppe에 들렸으나 시간이 일러 사가지고 가다 적당한 장소에서 먹기로 하였습니다.
After a quick breakfast at McDonald, we stopped for lunch at Sweet Stop & Sandwich Shoppe. But, since it was too early for the lunch, we ordered for the take out.

사가지고 갈 점심으로 샐라드와 샌드위치 (도합 9불 51전)를 주문해서 에피지 마운드 공원에 가는 길에서 먹었습니다. 닭고기 샐러드 샌드위치는 정말 맛 있었습니다만 불행이도 사워크림 사과 파이는 동이나 먹어 볼 기회가 없었습니다. 이 가게는 작은 마을 식당이니 분위기나 장식들을 기대하지는 마십시오. 그러나 샌드위치를 맛 보기 위해서는 꼭 들리십시오. 맛도 좋고 가격도 싸고요.

We ordered the salad and sandwich (total bill was $9.51) to go and ate them on the way to the Effigy Mounds Park. The chicken salad sandwich was better than good. Unfortunately, the sour cream apple pie was sold out. It is a small town sandwich shop and don't expect the ambiance or decor. But we recommend to stop for the sandwich. It is not only taste good, but also great value.


드뷰크에서는 여러 음식을 먹어 보기 위해 각 식당에서는 조금 씩 시켜 맛을 보기로 했습니다.

닭고기를 굽는 방식이 압력 튀김 기계를 사용하기 때문에 껍질은 바삭 바삭 하지만 속은 물기가 많다고 하여 들렸습니다. 닭 튀김(12불 50)은 소문대로 특이했지만 정말 최고다 하는 생각은 안들드군요. 메기 튀김(6불)은 별로 였습니다. 차라리 오징어 틔김이 좋았지 않았을까 합니다. 식당 안에 식사할 공간은 없고 테이크 아웃 뿐이도 꼭 현금을 준비하세요.

Because of the pressured deep fried method of cooking the chicken, the outside is crispy while the meat is moist. The fried chicken ($12.50) was different as rumored, but we didn't think it was as good as others mentioned. The fried cat fish ($6) was nothing special and we don't recommend. An order of calamari might have been better. There is no space to dine-in and it is take-out only. You better bring the cash, It does not accept the card.

맛 볼 생각에 사진도 안 찍고 먹기 시작했네요. 잭스 닭고기 집에서 닭고기를 먹고 미시시피 강변길을 걷다 저녁 늦게 들렸는데도 손님이 꽤 많았습니다. 그러나 서비스는 좋았습니다. 드뷰크에선 꽤 알려져  있는 것 같았습니다. 카프리 섬이란 피자는 듣던대로 명품이었습니다. 얇은 웨하스 크래커로 만든 크러스로 만든 피자는 그 후 다른 곳에서도 먹어 보았지만 이 집 피자에 견줄 만한 곳이 없드군요. 하우스 살라드는 재료도 신선했고 구운 빨간 고추 버터는 색달랐고 맛 있었습니다.

We were so eager to test the food, we forgot to take the pictures until we had couple pieces of pizza. Even we stopped at the place late evening after the walk around Mississippi Riverwalk, the place was relatively busy. It seems the place is well know in the city. But, the service was good. The Isle of Capri was the masterpiece as rumored. We had few times to taste other pizzas made with thin (flat bread) crust, but nothing can be compared with that of L. May. The ingredients of House Salad was fresh and the roasted red pepper butter was different, but good.

변소를 포함해 방은 깨끗했고 침대는 편안했습니다. 저희들은 사용하지 않았지만 방엔 작은 냉장고와 전자 레인지가 준비돼 있습니다. 에어컨도 조용하게 작동을 잘했고 와이 파이 연결도 좋았습니다. 아침 식사는 특별한 것은 없었지만 와플 만드는 기계가 있었습니다. 모텔이 드브큐 중심지에서 2-3 마일 떨어져 있지만 가격대나 편함에 있어 충분한 가치가 있었습니다.

The room including bathroom was clean and bed was comfortable. We did not use them, but a small refrigerator and micro oven were in the room. AC worked quietly and wi-fi access was good. They provided the usual continental breakfast with waffle maker. The motel was couple miles away from the Dubuque down town, but it was worth for the price and comfort.

회의 장소를 찾던 중 친구들 몆이 빈 커피 와인 카페 (Bean Coffee & Wine Cafe )가 음식, 커피 맛이 좋다고하여 점심 식사겸 이 곳에서 회의를 가졌습니다. We had a lunch meeting at the Bean Coffee and Wine Cafe because some of friends liked the food and coffee.

구운 닭고기 접시인 카프리스 파니니 (8불 95전)와 닭고기 살라드 랩 (6불95전)을 주문했는데 듣던 것보다는 맛이 별로 였습니다. 차라리 친구들이 주문한 시저 살라드가 양도 풍성하고 먹을만 하든군요. 같이 나온 작은 접시의 과일은 오래된 맛이던군요.
We tried the Caprese Panini (grilled chicken)($8.95) and Chicken Salad Wrap ($6.95) and they were not as good as we were told. Friends ordered the Caesar Salad and it was huge and looked more appetizing and huge. The side fruit served with meal was not fresh.

서비스 자체는 좋았는데 점심 식사 때인지 손이 모자랐습니다. 음식 나올 때까지 꽤 오래 기다렸고 주문에도 약간의 착오가 있었습니다. 저희들이 사용은 안했지만 와이파이 연결은 좋다고했고 편안한 분위기 였습니다. 스트립 몰에 식당이 있어 주차는 문제가 안될 것입니다.
The service itself was good, but they were short handed for the lunch time. We had to wait for the food longer than expected and there was a minor mix up on our orders. We did not try it, but we heard their wi-fi connection is good and the atmosphere is quite relaxing. Since the place is in the strip mall, the parking shouldn't be a problem.

빵집이 집과 멀고 아침에만 열기에 들려 볼 기회가 없었는데 오늘 아침 회의가 이 곳 근처에 있어 들리 기회가 있었습니다. Because the store is too far from the house and opens only in the morning, we didn't have a chance to try their donuts.But we had an opportunity today because we had a meeting near the store.

도넛은 그날 만든 것으로 매우 연하고 신선했고 오일 뒷맛도 없었습니다. 데니쉬 빵과 페이스트리를 구입했는데 이제까지 먹어본 빵 중에서 제일 맛 있었습니다. 과자들은 저희들 입 맛에는 너무 달았지만 그렇다고 설탕 맛은 아니었습니다. 가격은 약간 비싼 편이지만 맛에 비하면 비싼 것이 아닙니다.
The donuts are fresh, soft and no hint of oil. We bought the danish and pastries and they were real tasty. They are one of the best we have tasted so far. We tried four different cookies and they are too sweet taste for us, but they are not sugary sweet. The price is a little higher than other places, but it is not necessary expensive for the GOOD tasty donuts.

이 빵집은 스트립 몰에 있는 도넛을 음미할 수있는 테이블도 없는 아주 작은 전통적 빵집인데 커피는 팔더군요, 문 닫기 전 15분 전에 도착해 서비스에 관해서는 평을 할 수 없지만 빵을 사는 동안 게신 아주머니들은 친절하셨습니다. 저희들이 이 빵집 근처에 살지 않는 것이 정말 다행인 것 같읍니다. 아니면 저희들이 매일 들릴 것이니깐요. 그리고 한가지 기억하실 것은 현금을 꼭 준비하세요.
This bakery is a small traditional style bakery in the strip mall. There is no tables in the store to savor the donuts, but coffee is available. We can not comment on the service since we got there about 15 minutes before the closing. But the ladies at the store were polite until we bought the pastries. We are glad we are not living near by. Otherwise, we will be eating their donuts everyday. One thing to remember: it is cash only shop.
