Rutshellir cave (루셀리르 동굴)

위치: 스코가포스 폭포(Skogafoss) 에서 서쪽으로 4.8km (3마일) 

스코가포스 폭포(Skogafoss)로 가는 길에 예정에 없던 정차였습니다. 지나가는 길에 주차장에 서있는 몆대의 자동차를 보고 무엇이 있나 궁금해서 이곳에 멈췄습니다. 

Rutur 동굴로도 알려진 Rutshellir 동굴은 아이슬란드에서 가장 큰 인공 동굴 중 하나로 신비한 기원과 민속 전설로 유명합니다. 동굴의 외부 벽 역할을 하고 있는 거대한 바위 기둥은 옆산을 뒤덮고 있는 같은 종류의 이끼와 풀로 덮여 있습니다. 동굴 안에 들오가면 밖에서 보기보다 넓은 내부에 놀라실 겁니다. 입구 터널은 약 20미터(65피트) 길이로 뻗어 있으며 너비는 5미터(16피트)에 이릅니다. 마찬가지로 천장도 거의 8피트에 달하므로 키가 크거나 밀실 공포증이 있는 사람이라도 두려워하지 마세요. 

주위의 평화로운 분위기 때문인지 우리는 이 경치 좋은 풍경을 즐길 수 있었습니다. 동굴은 철조망 뒤에 있는데 울타리를 넘어갈 수 있는 사다리가 있음에도 불구하고 일반인에게 공개되어 있는지 확실하지 않습니다. 주차장에는 안내 표지판이 있습니다. 바위 산은 잘 보존되어 있으며 자연유산 등록부에 등재되어 있습니다.

Rutshellir cave

Location: 4.8 Km (3 mi) west of  Skogafoss waterfall

This was a unplanned stop on the way to Skogafoss waterfall. We just stopped at this place when we saw few cars in the parking lot not knowing what to expect.

Rutshellir cave, also known as the Cave of Rutur, is one of the largest man-made caves in Iceland, famous for its mysterious origin and folklore.  An enormous pillar of rugged rock serves as the exterior of the cave. This boulder is covered by the same mosses and grasses swarming the mountain. you’ll be surprised at how spacious the inside is. The tunnel runs approximately 65 feet (20 meters) and gets as wide as 16 feet (5 meters). Likewise, the ceiling is nearly eight feet, so don’t fear if you’re tall or even claustrophobic.

We enjoyed this scenic landscape for its peaceful ambiance. Since the cave is behind the barbed wire, we are not sure it is open for the public even though there is ladder to go over the fence. There is an information sign at the parking lot. The rock is preserved and is listed on the Natural Heritage Register.

Skogafoss waterfall (스코가포스 폭포)

스코가포스(Skogafoss)는 절벽에서 검은 모래로 둘러싸인 얕은 강으로 떨어지는 폭포입니다. 주차장에서 쉽게 폭포까지 갈 수 있고 폭포에 매우 가까이 다가갈 수 있어 정말 멋진 사진을 찍을 수 있습니다. 

197피트의 스코가포스(Skogafoss)는 셀야란드포스 (Seljalandsfoss)와 거의 같은 높이이지만 폭은 82피트에 달합니다. 폭포는 물 힘이 세고, 폭포에 접근할 때 폭포 바닥에서 끊임없이 물보라가 튀기 때문에 방수 의류를 착용하는 것이 좋습니다. 이렇게 강력한 자연의 힘에 가까이 다가선 느낌을 겪어 보시가를. 폭포 옆 500 개가 조금 넘는 계단을 올라가면 위에서 폭포를 볼 수도 있습니다.  꼭대기에서 바라보는 폭포의 경치는 밑바닥에서 보는 것만큼 좋지 못해요. 계단에서 바라보는 남쪽 아이슬란드의 풍경이 아름답더라도 그럴만한 가치가 없는 것 같아요.

Skogafoss waterfall (1 Hr)

Skogafoss cascades from a cliff into a shallow river surrounded by black sand. It is easily accessible from the parking lot and you can get super close to the waterfall, making for a truly iconic photo.

At 197 feet, Skogafoss is roughly the same height as Seljalandsfoss but its width is an impressive 82 feet. The waterfall is forceful, and you will get unrelentingly sprayed as you approach it from its base, so you’ll want to consider wearing water resistant clothing. The feeling of standing that close to such a powerful force of nature is incredible.  you can also climb the steps to view the waterfall from above. There are a little over 500 stairs to the top of the waterfall. The view of the waterfall from the top is not as good as that from the base and it is not worth it even though the view of South Iceland from the stairs is beautiful.

주차장 부근에 야영을 허락하는가 봅니다. 샤워장 등이 준비되어있드군요.

It looks like they allow the camping around the parking area. There is a shower room for the campers.

그리고 이웃 풍경이 너무 평요해보여서!!

The view was just too peaceful!!

크베르누포스 폭포 (Kvernufoss)

스코가포스(Skogafoss) 바로 옆에 위치하고 있지만 방문객 수가 적은 남부 아이슬란드의 보석 중 하나입니다. 만약 주차장에 있는 주차 요금 기계 (주차비 750 ISK)가 고장이면 옆에 있는 스코검 박물관(Skogum Museum) 안내소에서 주차 요금을 지블하시면 됩니다. 그러면 화장실도 무료로 사용할 수 있고요.

폭포 자체는 이웃인 셀랴란드포스(Seljalandsfoss)와 모양이 비슷합니다. 그러나 Seljalandsfoss와 달리 98피트로 훨씬 작고 Kvernufoss 뒤로 끝까지 걸어 가는 것은 불가능합니다. 폭포 뒷길은 폭포 바로 뒤에서 끝나나 전망이 좋은 장소들이 여러곳 있습니다. 

Kvernufoss Waterfall

It is located right next to Skogafoss and it is one of South Iceland’s less frequented gems. If the machine to pay the parking fee (750 ISK) does not work, you may pay the fee at the information desk at Skogum Museum. The fee includes the free use of restroom.

The waterfall itself is similar in looks to its neighbor, Seljalandsfoss. Unlike Seljalandsfoss, it is not possible to walk all the way behind Kvernufoss, and at 98 feet it is also much smaller. The path ends right up alongside the waterfall, but  provides you with plenty of excellent viewing spots. 

주차장에서 폭포까지는 약 10~15분 정도 걸리나 들어가는 길의 계곡 전체가 아름답습니다. 무엇 보다도 관광객으로 분비지않아 혼자 여유스럽게 즐길 수있습니다. 주차장에서 폭포까지 가는 길은 사유 재산이라는 점에 유의하십시오. 많은 사람들이 무례하세 사용하던가 쓰레기를 제대로 치우지 않는다면 이 아름다운 폭포를 보지 못하게 될 수도 있습니다.

It takes about 10-15 minutes to reach the waterfall from the parking lot and the whole valley is beautiful. Above all else, you could enjoy the beautiful and peaceful scenery all by yourself without crowd. Pease be aware that the path to the waterfall is the private property. If too many people are too rude and leave the trash behind, this beautiful waterfall may not be available to see in future.

스코검 박물관(Skogum Museum)

10명 이상 단체의 경우 예약 시 영어, 독일어, 아이슬란드어로 가이드 투어를 이용할 수 있습니다.

스코가르 박물관(Skógar Museum)은 1949년에 설립되었으며 현재 18,000개 이상의 지역 유물 컬렉션을 세 개의 다른 공간에 전시하고 있습니다. 크베르누포스 (Kvernufoss) 입구 옆에 위치해 있습니다. 

박물관은 세 부분으로 나누어져 있습니다: 

-민속 박물관은 어업, 농업, 직물, 자연사뿐만 아니라 바이킹 시대까지 거슬러 올라가는 유물 등 3개 층에 전시된 매우 다양한 유물을 제공합니다. 

-오픈 에어 박물관(야외 박물관)에서는 방문객들이 오래전의 분위기를 느낄 수 있고 잔디와 돌로 만든 농장에서 아이슬란드인들이 수세기 동안 어떻게 살았는지 경험할 수 있습니다. 

-기술 박물관은 19세기와 20세기 아이슬란드의 기술과 교통, 발전에 대한 이야기를 들려줍니다. 

우리는 야외 박물관만 둘러봤지만, 가혹한 자연과 예측할 수 없는 날씨의 원시적인 환경에서 아이슬란드 사람들이 어떻게 살고 살아남았는지 배울 수 있는 장소가 될 수 있었습니다.

Skogum Museum

Fees: Adults: 2500 ISK, Students / senior: 1800 ISK

Hours: June - August: 09:00 - 18:00, September - May: 10:00 – 17:00

Guided tours are available upon reservation in English, German and Icelandic for groups of ten people or more. 

Skógar Museum was founded in 1949 and nowadays hosts a collection of more than 18,000 regional artifacts, exhibited in three different spaces. It is located next to the entrance to Kvernufoss.

The museum is divided into three parts:
-The Folk Museum offers a huge variety of artifacts displayed on three floors: fishing, agriculture, textile, and natural history, as well as artifacts dating back to the Viking Age.
-The Open Air Museum, where visitors can catch the atmosphere of times long gone and experience how Icelanders lived through the centuries in farms made from turf and stone.
-The Technical Museum tells the story of technology and transportation and its development in Iceland in the 19th and 20th century. It also houses a souvenir shop and the Skógakaffi cafeteria.

We only toured the open air museum, but it could be a place to learn how people lived or survived in Iceland in a primitive environment with harsh nature and unpredictable weather.

미아의 컨트리 푸드트럭 (Mia's Country Food Truck)

시간 : 12시 - 4시 

방향: Skógafoss 길로 들어서면 바로 오른쪽에 있습니다. 하지만 트럭이 잘보이지 않기 때문에 놓칠 수도 있습니다. 

많은 사람들의 이곳이 아이슬란드 최고의 피쉬 앤 칩스 식당 중 하나라는 평 때문에 우리는 꼭 먹어 보기로 마음 먹었습니다. 미아의 컨트리에서는 피쉬 앤 칩스 한 가지만 판매하고 소스 1개가 음식과 함께 무료로 제공됩니다(마요네즈, 아이슬란드 타르타르, 케첩, 스위트 칠리 중 선택). 피쉬 앤 칩스는 현지에서 잡힌 신선한 생선으로만 요리를 한다고하네요. 가격은 한 접시에 2000 ISK($15.50)였고 아이슬란드에서 최고인지는 모르겠지만, 맛있었고 즐거운 점심이었습니다.

Mia's Country Food Truck

Hours: 12 P - 4 P

Direction: When you drive onto Skógafoss, the place is on your right. But it’s difficult to see the truck, so you might miss it if you don’t know where to look. 

Since people claim it to be one of the best fish & chips places in Iceland, we had to try it. With your order, you get one sauce for free (pick from mayo, Icelandic tartar, ketchup, or sweet chili).

Mia’s Country only sells one thing: fish & chips. The fish and chips are made from locally caught fresh fish. The cost was2000 ISK ($15.50). We don't know if it is the best in Iceland, but it was really good and enjoyed our lunch.

디르홀레이-키르큐프야 라 해변 (Dyrhólaey-Kirkjufjara)

디르홀레이(Dyrhólaey) 방향으로 218번 도로를 따라가다 보면 두 가지 옵션이 있습니다. 즉 끝까지 운전을 하고 가거나 아니면 우회전을 하여 언덕길을 올라 가는 것입니다. Dyrhólaey 아치를 볼 수 있는 두 개의 주차장 입니다. 하나는 언덕을 올라가 "성 모양" 등대 옆 가장 높은 지점에 있고 아래쪽에 있는 다른 하나는 약간 동쪽으로 Kirkjufjara 해변 옆에 있습니다. 아래쪽 주차장에 유료 화장실이 있습니다. 

위쪽 주차장에서는 절벽 위에서 Dyrhólaey 아치의 멋진 전망을 감상하실 수 있습니다. Dyrhólaey는 말 그대로 "문 구멍이 있는 언덕 섬"을 의미하며 높이는 120m입니다. 북쪽으로는 Mýrdalsjökull 빙하, 동쪽으로는 Reynisdrangar 스택과 Reynisfjara 해변도 보입니다. 

아래쪽 지역에서는 Arnardrangur, 즉 "독수리 바위"라고 불리는 멋진 바위를 볼 수 있습니다. 바위는 바위에 둥지를 틀고 있는 독수리에서 이름을 따왔지만 1850년 이후로 독수리는 그곳에 둥지를 틀지 않았습니다. 또한 주차장에서 키르큐산두르(Kirkjusandur) 해변으로 가는 유일한 입구가 있습니다. 해변은 절벽 아래에 위치하고 있으며 반대편에는 거대한 힘의 대서양이 있습니다. "기습적인 파도"는 다른 파도보다 내륙쪽으로 훨씬 길게 뻗어 들어오는 파도로 매우 위험하므로 해변에는 들어가지 않는 것이 좋습니다.

Dyrhólaey-Kirkjufjara beach

Driving the road 218 toward Dyrhólaey, you have two options i.e. either drive it all the way or make a right turn up the hill. There are two parking lots to view Dyrhólaey arch. One at the highest point by "castle shaped" lighthouse and the other one is a bit east by Kirkjufjara beach. There is a restroom at the lower parking lot. 

From the upper parking lot you have an excellent view to Dyrhólaey arch from the cliffs. Dyrhólaey literally means "the hill island with the door hole" and it is 120 m high. You also see Mýrdalsjökull glacier to the north and the Reynisdrangar stacks and Reynisfjara beach to the east.

In the lower area you can view a cool rock called Arnardrangur, "Eagle rock". The rock draws its name from eagles nesting in the rock but they haven't nested there since 1850. From the parking lot, there is the only entrance to Kirkjusandur beach. The beach is located under the cliff with the forceful Atlantic Ocean on the other side. It is recommend not to enter the beach because of the highly dangerous sneaker wave, a larger wave that stretches much farther inland than others.

봄/여름 또는 산란기에는 Dyrhólaey의 접근이 제한됩니다. 계절에 따라 다를 수 있으므로 방문하시기 전에 확인하세요. 산란기에는 아래쪽 부분은 차량 통행이 허락되지만, 위쪽 부분은 도보 여행자에 한해서 낮 동안은 개방됩니다.

Please note that during spring/summer time or nesting season Dyrhólaey has limited access. You should check before you leave because it could be different between season. During the nesting season the lower part is open to car traffic but the higher part is then only open to travellers on foot during daytime.

On the way to the Reynisfjara Beach, you may find Reyniskirkja Church with a red roof and white walls, a great contrast which pops against the lush green landscape. It provides the beautiful photo opportunity.

레이니스퍄라 블랙 비치 (Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach)

아이슬란드의 인기 있는 이 검은 모래 해변은 비크(Vik)라는 작은 마을에서 가까운 곳에 있습니다. 아마도 육각형 암석을 쌓아 놓은 것처럼 보이는 독특한 현무암 기둥 벽으로 가장 잘 알려져 있는 곳입니다. 이런 특이하고 균일한 기둥은 용암이 매우 빠르게 냉각될 때 형성됩니다. 절벽이 모래사장에서 솟아오른 듯한 모습을 보여 주는 이곳은 사진 촬영의 명소이기도 합니다. 아마 기둥벽에서 원하는 사진을 찍기를 원하면 꽤 오래 기다려셔야 할 것입니다. 해변은 파도와 저류가 강하고 격렬하여 해수욕장으로는 적합치 않습니다. 특히 아이들과 함께 방문한다면 아이들이 물가에 너무 가까이 가지 않도록 주위하세요.

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

This popular black sand beach in Iceland is right outside of the small town of Vik. It is perhaps best known for the unique basalt columned wall that looks like a bunch of stacked hexagonal rocks. These oddly uniform columns are formed when lava is cooled extremely rapidly. The cliff seems to rise out of the sand and it is a prime photograph location. You may have to wait for some time to take a picture you want at the rock stack. The waves and undertow at this beach are strong and violent, so this isn’t a swimming beach. If you’re visiting Iceland with kids, watch them closely and don’t let them get too close to the water’s edge.

레이니스드란가르(Reynisdrangar)

지역 민간 전설에 따르면 레이니스드란가르(Reynisdrangar)라고 알려진 해안선에 있는 바위 더미는 트롤이 단단한 돌로 변한 것이라고 합니다.

According to local folklore, the rocky sea stacks sitting off the shoreline, known as Reynisdrangar, are trolls turned into solid stone.

유료주차장 이용시 화장실은 무료입니다. 가장 인기 있는 관광지(투어 버스를 의미함) 중 하나이므로, 시간대에 따라 주차 공간을 기다려야 할 수도 있습니다.

The restroom is free with the paid parking. Since it is one of most popular tourist stop (meaning tour buses), you may have to wait for the parking space depending the time of the day.

엘드라운 (Eldhraun) in Skaftárhreppur

이끼는 아이슬란드 자연 속에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 식물이지만, 특별히 주의를 주어야 할 곳이 몇 군데 있습니다. Skaftárhreppur의 일드라운 (Eldhraun)도 그중 하나인데 이 검은 용암 지대는 약 565km2에 걸쳐 펼쳐져 있습니다. 이끼는 매우 섬세하여 해당 지역을 걸어 다니는 것이 허용되지 않습니다. 경치를 즐기는 가장 좋은 방법은 주요 도로 근처의 인근 주차장에 차를 세우고 구경하는 방법입니다. 계획하지 않았던 곳이었지만 들리길 잘했다고 생각합니다.

엘드라운 용암 지대(Eldhraun Lava Field)는 1783년부터 1784년 사이에 발생한 격렬한 폭발로 형성되었습니다. 이 폭발은 라카기가르(Lakagígar)라고 불리며 빙하기가 끝난 후 지구상에서 가장 큰 폭발 중 하나였습니다. 이 재앙적인 폭발로 인해 아이슬란드에서는 당시 인구의 약 20%인 거진 10,000명이 사망했습니다.

Eldhraun in Skaftárhreppur

Even if moss is a common plant in Icelandic nature, there are a few spots that are worth paying special attention too. Eldhraun in Skaftárhreppur is one of them. This black lava field stretches over around 565 km2. The moss is very delicate and it is not allowed to walk in the area. The best way to enjoy the sight is to stop at one of the nearby parking spaces near the main road. It was unscheduled stop, but we were glas to stop and really enjoyed the view.

Eldhraun Lava Field was formed in a violent eruption that took place between 1783 – 1784. The eruption is called Lakagígar and is one of the largest eruptions on Earth after the Ice Age ended. This catastrophic eruption resulted in around 10.000 deaths in Iceland (around 20% of the population at the time).

프레이스네스 (Freysnes)

적당한 가격의 식당를 찾다가 카페테리아 스타일의 이 식당을 발견했습니다. 주유소 겸 편의점 안에 있습니다. 버거(2650 ISK)와 피시볼(1600 ISK)을 주문했는데 버거와 감자튀김은 신선하고 정말 맛있게 조리되었지만 피쉬 볼은 개선될 부분이 많이 있었습니다.

We were looking for a reasonably priced meal and found this cafeteria style eating place. It is located inside of gas and convenient store. We ordered the burger (2650 ISK) and fish ball (1600 ISK). The burger and fries was cooked fresh and really tasty, but the fish ball could use a lot of improvements.

Guesthouse Gerði

게스트하우스 숙바시설은 아주 기본적이지만 하룻밤 정도 쉬어가기에는 충분했습니다. 하지만 바다와 산을 배경 삼은 호텔 주변 경치는 너무 좋았고 다음 날 방문할 예정인 요쿨살론 빙하호수와도 가까워서 좋았습니다. 호텔 체크인은 레스토랑 데스크에서 하셔야 합니다.

호텔 식당에서 식사를 하지 않았기 때문에 레스토랑 평은 없지만 단지 뜨거운 물 두잔을 투고 하는데 5유로를 청구하더군요 ㅠ ㅠ 주차는 무료입니다.

The guesthouse has very basic accommodations, but it was good enough to rest for one night. But the location by the sea and mountain backdrop was great and it was close to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon
we plan to visit the following day. The check in is handled at the desk in the restaurant.

No reviews for the onsite restaurant since we did not eat there except that they charged us 300 ISK for two cups of hot water to take out. 😞😞 The parking is free.

아이슬란드로 가는 밤새 비행기는 만원이었지만 별로 맛 없는 저녁 식사(스낵) 이외에는 별다른 일이 없었습니다.

Our flight to Iceland was full overnight flight, but the flight itself was uneventful except the eatable(?) dinner (snack) served.

렌터카 정보 (Rental Car Information)

공항의 렌터카 셔틀 정보는 약간 오해의 소지가 있습니다. 웹사이트에는 세관을 통과한 후 셔틀이 터미널 "바로 바깥"에 있다고 나와 있습니다. 실제로는 버스 주차장을 지나 건너편에 있습니다. 날씨가 추울 때 도착하는 경우, 비바람에 노출될 수 있으므로(대피할 곳이 없음) 셔틀을 기다리면서 옷을 제대로 갖춰 입으시는 것이 좋습니다. 하지만 차량 자체를 픽업하는 것은 아무 문제가 없이 빨랐습니다. 저희는 카렌트 장소을 떠나기 전 다른 분들의 조언을 듣고 차량 외부는 물론 차량 하부까지 영상으로 촬영하였습니다. 차량 하부는 아이슬란드의 F-road 주행 등으로 인해 손상이 있었는가를 확인하는 것입니다. 

The information for car rental shuttle at the airport is a little misleading. The web site indicates that the shuttle is "right outside" of terminal after clearing the custom. It is actually across from bus parking lot. If you arrive when the weather is cold, you may want to dress properly waiting for the shuttle since you will be exposed to the element (no place to shelter). However, the experience of picking up the car itself was smooth and fast. Before we left the rental lot, we took the advise of other people and took the videos of not only exterior of the car, but the undercarriage of the car since there could be damages caused by driving F-road or other incident in Iceland.

Sigurjonsbakari (시귀욘스바카리)

이곳은 페이스트리를 사기 위해 아이슬란드 도착후 두 번째로 들렸던 곳이었습니다. 페이스트리를 몇 개 샀는지 기억하지 못하지만 1800 ISK를 지불했습니다. 빵들은 집동네에서 사서 먹던 것 보다 덜 달았지만 일부로 들릴만큼 맛있는 것은 아니었습니다. 직원분들은 친절하였고 주차공간도 넉넉합니다.

This was our second stop after arriving in Iceland to get some pastries. We do not remember how many pastries we bought, but we paid 1800 ISK. They are less sweet than that we got at home and we won't get out of way to get them. The staff were friendly and it has ample parking space.

Costco/Kronan

특별한 현지 제품이 있나해서 코스코에 들렀지만 흥미로운 것을 찾지 못했습니다. 그 다음에 들린 곳은 크로난(Kronan)입니다. 망고 아이스크림(998 ISK)과 체리 잼(486 ISK)을 구입했습니다. 아이스크림은 동네에서 먹던 것과 비슷했지만 아직 체리잼은 먹어 보지를 못했습니다.(업데이트 예정)

We stopped at the Costco to check out any local products, but we did not find anything interesting. Another market place we tried is Krona. We bought Mango Ice cream (998 ISK) and Cherry Jam (486 ISK). The ice cream was similar to what we have at home, but we have not yet tried Cherry Jam.(to be updated).

Kleifarvatn Lake (클레이파르바튼 호수)

구릉과 구불구불한 길을 따라 용암산으로 둘러싸인 클레이파르바튼(Kleifarvatn) 호수는 장관을 이루는 곳입니다. 이곳은 아름다우며 동시에 신비로움을 주는 호수입니다. 클레이파르바튼(Kleifarvatn)은 아이슬란드 레이캬네스 반도에서 가장 큰 호수이며 반도 남부에 있습니다. 면적 9.1평방 킬로미터에 펼쳐져 있는 이 호수의 수심은 약 97미터로 아이스랜드에서 가장 깊은 호수 중 하나이며 대서양 중앙 해령(Mid-Atlantic Ridge)의 균열 지대에 위치하고 있습니다. 넓게 펼쳐진 푸른 호수의 독특한 특징은 눈에 띄는 표면 배수 장치가 없다는 것입니다. 이는 강이 호수로 흐르거나 흘러가지 않는다는 것을 의미합니다.

Lake Kleifarvatn, surrounded by lava mountains on hilly and curvy roads, is a spectacular location. This is a breathtaking lake, beautiful and mysterious at the same time. Kleifarvatn is the largest lake on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland, situated in the southern part of the peninsula. Spread across an area of 9.1 square kilometers, it is one of the deepest lakes in the country with a depth of about 97-meters. It is located on the fissure zone of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The unique feature of the sweeping blue lake is that it has no visible surface drainage that means no river runs to or from it.

Krysuvik Geothermal Area (크리수비크 지열 지역)

Krysuvik 지열 지역은 대서양 중앙해령(Mid-Atlantic Ridge)의 균열 중앙에 위치해 있습니다. 주요 지열 구역은 Seltun, Hverahvammur 및 ​​Hverahlid입니다. 크리수비크 지열 지역(Krýsuvík Geothermal Area)은 진흙 냄비, 온천, 증기 분출구뿐만 아니라 광물질로인한 다양한 색상으로 칠해져 있는제방으로 정의할 수 있습니다.

In the middle of the fissure on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge (in the south of Reykjanes) is the geothermal area Krysuvik. The main geothermal sections in Krysuvik are Seltun, Hverahvammur and Hverahlid. The Krýsuvík Geothermal Area is defined by mud pots, hot springs and steaming vents, as well as the multi-coloured mineral deposits that stain the earth.

A well maintained boardwalk winds through the geothermal fields, and visitors can find information and educational signs all around that explain the area’s geology. Hikers can find a winding path leading to the top of the massive steaming vent and the view from the top is spectacular.

The restroom is free.

Hvolsvöllur (크볼스뵐뤼르) - Lava Center (라바 센터)

라바 센터에서는 발 밑에 느끼는 힘과 가장 큰 지진을 경험할 수 있으며 직접 체험해 볼 수도 있다고 들었습니다. 하지만 일각에서는 유니버셜 스튜디오에서 직접 체험해 보는 것이 더 나을 수도 있다는 의견도 있었습니다. 라바 센터에 대한 리뷰가 엇갈려 원래 방문할 계획이었음에도 불구하고 센터 방문을 안하기로 결정했습니다.

At Lava Center, you may experience the power beneath the feet and the biggest earthquake. We heard that you may be able to have a hands-on experience. But, some say that the experience at Universal studio might be better to experience. With the mixed review of Lava center, we decided to skip the center even though we originally planned to visit.

Messinn Selfoss

점심시간 지나서 방문하여서인지 식당은 아늑하지만 거의 비어 있었습니다. 랍스터와 새우(3990 ISK)와 해산물 파스타(4290 ISK)를 먹어보았습니다. 랍스터와 새우는 적당한 양의 향신료로 맛이 좋았고 해산물 파스타는 훌륭했습니다. 재료가 신선했고, 프리젠테이션도 좋았습니다. 직원들은 친절했고 메뉴 선택에 도움이 되었습니다. 레스토랑 입구는 거리가 아닌 광장 쪽에 있습니다. 우리는 건물 뒷편을 가볼 때까지 식당 찾는 것을 거의 포기했었습니다.

We visited the place after lunch hour and it was cosy, but almost empty. We tried Lobster and Shrimp (3990 ISK) and Seafood Pasta (4290 ISK). Lobster and Shrimp was tasty with right amount of spice and Seafood Pasta was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was good. The staff was friendly and helpful with menu.

The entrance to the restaurant is at the plaza side, not the street. We almost had given up finding it until we tried other side of street.

Our next stop is the first, but one of the famous waterfalls we will see in Iceland.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall (셀야란드포스 폭포)

셀야란드포스 (Seljalandsfoss) 폭포는 Eyjafjallajökull 빙하 아래에서 시작하는 Seljalandsá 강의 일부입니다. 도로에서도 볼 수 있는 이 빙하 아래에 있는 화산은 2010년에 폭발하여 유럽 전역의 공항을 마비케한 화산입니다. 

이 불가사의는 높이가 60미터 (196피트)이지만 일반적으로 '뒤로 걸어갈 수 있는 폭포'로 더 잘 알려져 있으며 아이슬란드에 있는 동안 꼭 방문해야 할 곳입니다. 폭포 뒤의 길은 몆 개단의 계단이 있지만 쉽게 걸을 수 있고 방문객들은 폭포의 강한 물줄기로 튀는 물안개로 인해 물에 젖을 각오를 해야하며 또한 길의 바위들이 미끄럽기 때문에 조심하여야 합니다. 그러나 폭포 뒤는 훌륭한 사진 촬영 기회를 제공합니다.주차장 이용 시 요금이 부과되며, 기계에서는 신용카드만 사용할 수 있습니다. 화장실 시설(주차비 포함 무료), 음식 가판대, 그리고 작은 상점도 있습니다.

Seljalandsfoss waterfall, part of the river Seljalandsá, has its origins underneath the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. The volcano beneath this ice cap was the one that erupted in 2010 and caused havoc at airports across Europe. You can see the glacier from the road!

This wonder is 60 meters (196 ft) tall, but it is commonly known as ‘the waterfall you can walk behind’ and is truly a must-visit while in Iceland. The pathway behind the waterfall is an easy walk with a few stairs, but visitors should be prepared to get dampened due to the perpetual mist of the falls, which also tends to make the rocks of the pathway slippery. It also provides a great photo opportunity.

There is a charge for using the parking lot (900 ISK) and the machines only accept credit cards. There are also bathroom facilities (free with parking fee), a food stand, and a small shop near the parking lot.

Gljúfrabúi Waterfall (글주프라부이 폭포)

글주프라부이(Gljufrabui)는 약간 숨겨져 있고 옆에 있는 잘알려진 셀랴란드포스(Seljalandsfoss) 폭포보다 작기 때문에 지나치는 경우가 많습니다. 이 폭포 입구까지 가는 길은 셀랴란드포스(Seljalandsfoss)에서 잘 관리된 흙길을 따라 약 600m 떨어져 있습니다.

방수 재킷과 신발을 가져가세요. 얕은 개울/강을 통과하여 동굴에 들어가려면 방수 신발이 필요합니다. 동굴에 들어가면 젖을 것이 확실하므로 방수 재킷이 필요합니다. 둘오가는 길은 물 속을 따라 걸어야하지만 아주 위험하지는 않으나 미끄러울 수 있으니 조심하여야합니다. 그러나 폭우가 내린 후에는 수위가 상승하여 동굴로 들어가는 것이 조금 더 까다로워질 수가 있습니다. 작은 동굴 안으로 들어가면 폭포가 한눈에 들어오는데 정말 아름답습니다. 마치 자연의 천장에 있는 채광창을 통해 쏟아져 내리는 것 같습니다. Gljúfrabúi의 안개로 인해 얼굴, 머리, 옷이 젖게 되지만, 그만한 가치가 있는 경험이 될 것입니다!

동굴 중앙에는 거대한 바위가 있어 오르기 쉽고 사진 촬영에도 적합합니다.

Gljufrabui is often overlooked as it is slightly hidden and is smaller than its towering neighbor, Seljalandsfoss. The walk to the entrance of this waterfall is about 600 meters from Seljalandsfoss down a well maintained dirt path.

Take a waterproof jacket and shoes with you. It will require waterproof shoes for a short walk through a shallow creek or river to get into the cave. You will be wet for sure as you have to get into a cave. Although you will be walking through water, it isn’t a treacherous walk. However, after heavy rain, the water level rises and it becomes a bit trickier to maneuver your way into the cavern. Once inside the small cave, the waterfall comes into full view, and it is breathtaking. It looks as if it’s pouring through a skylight in nature’s ceiling. The mist from Gljúfrabúi will definitely get your face, hair, and clothing wet, but the experience is worth it!

There’s a giant boulder in the middle of the cavern, which is easy to climb and perfect for taking pictures.

거의 모든 곳에서 양을 볼 수 있지만, 길에서 양을 본다면 꼭 멈춰야 합니다. 양과 관련된 사고가 발생하면 비용이 많이 든다고 들었습니다.

You may see lambs almost anywhere, but you must stop if you see them on the road. We heard it would be very costly if you have an accident involving the lambs.

홀초스(Holtsos) 호수 건너편에 위치한 이 철조망에 여행자들은 2012년부터 특별한 기념품을 남겨왔습니다. 차 주차 할 곳이 마땅치 않으니 조심하세여.

오늘 저녁은 (Our Dinner was)

밤 비행과 하루 종일 관광을 한 후라 얼큰한게 먹고 싶어 Gamla fjósið에 들려 호텔에서 매운 라면과 함께 먹을 스테이크 샌드위치(3180 ISK)를 투고로 주문했습니다. 메뉴에 있는 다른 요리에 대해서는 평을 할 수 없지만, 샌드위치 맛으로만 평하면 음식이 맛있었습니다. 다음 기회가 있으면 다른 음식도 먹어보지 않을까요.

We stoped at Gamla fjósið and ordered the steak sandwich (3180 ISK) to eat with the spicy ramen at the hotel after over night flight and all day sightseeing. We don't know about other dishes on the menu, but, judging from the sandwich, the food was pretty good. We may try other dishes if we have another chance.

오늘 숙박은 (Where we stayed)

우리는 아이슬란드의 첫날 밤을 Welcome Lambafell에서 보냈습니다. 통나무집 스타일의 객실은 조용하고 편안했으며 아침 식사는 하루를 시작하기에 충분했습니다. 호텔에는 프런트 데스크가 없으며 체크인은 전화로 이루어집니다. 우리가 직면한 문제는 필요할 때 보조자를 구할 수 없다는 것이었습니다. 호텔 찾기가 약간 힘들었지만 호텔은 길 끝에 있는 마지막 집입니다.

We spent our first night in Iceland at Welcome Lambafell. The log cabin style room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was good enough to start the day. There is no front desk and the check in is done over the phone. The problem we faced was that we could not get any assistant when we need.
It was a little difficult to locate the hotel and it is the last house at the end of the road.
