The Coliseum ticket is also good for entry to the Roman Forum & Palatine Hill which is conveniently located right next door. We visited the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill first since the line was much shorter. The Roman Forum and Palatine Hills weren’t as popular as the nearby Colosseum, but we thought they were more interesting.

포럼 위로 솟은 팔라티노 언덕은 황제가 궁전을 지은 곳입니다. 아우구스투스 카이사르가 그의 첫 번째 궁전을 지은 것으로 시작하여 도미티아누스 황제가 수영장, 사우나, 분수가 있는 큰 궁전으로 증축 하였습니다. 실제로 그는 영화 “벤허”로 유명해진 전차 경주장인 서커스 막시무스가 내려다보이는 언덕의 다른 끝까지 확장했습니다.
The Palatine Hill that rises above the Forum is where the emperors built their palaces. Starting with the first palace built by Augustus Caesar, Emperor Domitian grew it into a truly vast building containing swimming pools, saunas and fountains. In fact he extended it all the way to the other edge of the hill to overlook the Circus Maximus, where he could watch the chariot races now immortalized in the action sequences of the movie “Ben Hur”.
The structures built in the Severan age to extend the imperial residence are a clear example of the grandeur of Roman architecture.
The southwest corner of the Palatine is one of the most ancient and sacred places in Rome.

The Roman Forum comprises much of Ancient Rome's most important structures, from shrines to government houses to monuments. Roman life for centuries revolved around this area of Rome. Although much of the complex is in ruins, you can see the remains and imagine the former glory.

What looks like a pile of rocks and dirt is the remains of the altar the Senate placed in front of the temple, which contained Caesar's ashes.

팔라티노 끝 포럼 옆에 있는 파르네세 정원을 꼭 들리세요. 이곳에서 아래에 펼쳐지는 멋진 포럼을 구경할 수있습니다. 또한 이 곳은 아름다운 나무들로 가득찬 정원이 있는데 팔라티노 언덕에서 가장 예쁜 곳일 것입니다. 파르네세 정원은 유럽 최초의 사립 식물원 이었습니다.
You must go up to the Gardens of Farnese upon the Palatine on the northern edge of the Palatine which gives a wonderful view of the Forum down below. It is also much prettier part of the Palatine Hill complete with gardens and lovely trees. The Gardens of Farnese was the first private botanical gardens in Europe.

콘스탄틴 개선문은 밀비아 다리 전투에서 승리를 축하하기 위해 위대한 콘스탄틴 황제에게 헌정 되었고 로마에서 가장 큰 개선문으로 콜로세움 옆에 있습니다. 서기 315 년에 지어진이 건물은 도시에서 가장 오래된 건축물 중 하나이며 원래의 부조와 조각의 디테일을 많이 그대로 간직하고 있습니다. 21m 높이의 이 개선문은 주변 지역 어느 곳에서나 볼 수 있으며 로마에서 가장 상징적 인 랜드 마크 중 하나 입니다.
Arch of Constantine (콘스탄티누스 개선문)
Dedicated to the great Emperor Constantine to celebrate his victory at the Battle of Milvian Bridge, the Arch of Constantine is the largest of its kind in Rome and stands next to the Colosseum. Built in 315 AD it is among the oldest structures in the city and still retains a great amount of its original detail and artwork. Standing at 21m high it is clearly visible from the surrounding areas and is one of the most iconic landmarks in Rome.

Built in Roman times as a space for holding public spectacles, the Coliseum, which was opened in 80 A.D., is most famous for being the home of gladiators, who would battle it out in front of audiences that could number as many as 80,000 people. The Coliseum is the largest amphitheatre in the world with a circumference of 573 yards, and despite suffering some damage in it’s two thousand years of existence, is still hugely impressive to visit. Take advantage of a pass or advance ticket purchase options so you can skip the ticket queue and go straight to the security line. Skip the line access for the Coliseum is included on the Rome and Vatican Pass, and the Roma Pass.
Recent Colosseum visitors recommended opting for a tour guide (many endorsed those offered by Viator), with some saying it gives more context, providing a richer experience than simply viewing the structure (you'll find little public information or exhibits if you tour the site yourself).

트리아노 포르셰타는 구운 돼지 고기 샌드위치인데 한번 먹어 본것으로 충분할 것 같네요. 그런데파비우스 버거는 맛있게 먹었습니다.
Traiano porchetta is similar to the pulled pork sandwich but we were not sure about it. We thought once is enough. But, Fabius burger was excellent

The Piazza del Campidoglio was laid down on the summit of the Capitoline Hill, the most important of Rome’s seven hills. Michelangelo designed the square to face St. Peter's Basilica instead of Roman Forum, which at the time was the political center of the city. He also took care of the construction of another palace (Palazzo Nuovo) and redesigned Palazzo dei Conservatori, harmonizing both with the Palazzo Senatorio.

The Basilica of Santa Maria in Aracoeli is very close to the Altare della Patria and is one of the most cherished churches by Rome’s inhabitants. The temple is also renowned because it houses the Santo Bambino of Aracoeli, a wooden figure of the Child Jesus, which is said to be miraculous.
The temple has 22 columns, none exactly alike, which were taken from Roman ruins. It is also worth seeing various burials and frescoes from the fifteenth century. The wooden ceiling is decorated with paintings representing the Battle of Lepanto, where the Holy League defeated the fleet of the Ottoman Empire.
Santo Bambino of Aracoeli (아라코엘리의 아기 예수상)
이 교회에서 가장 유명한 것은 15 세기 겟세마네 동산에 있던 올리브 나무로 조각된 아기 예수 조각상인 산토 밤비노 (Santo Bambino) 입니다. 아기 예수상은 크리스마스 때에만 보고함에서 꺼냅니다. 원래 동상은 1994 년에 도난 당했지만, 사본으로 전통은 이어지고 있습니다.

The most famous thing in the church is Santo Bambino, an olive-wood statue of the baby Jesus from the 15th century which was carved from a tree from the Garden of Gethsemane. The Santo Bambino is brought out only at Christmas. The original statue was stolen in 1994, but the tradition continues with a modern copy.

Considered a central thoroughfare and hub in the city of Rome, the Piazza Venezia is one of the busiest parts of the city and forms an intersection for several of the main roads. Important monuments located on the plaza include the Altar of the Fatherland and Trajan’s Column.

The Altar of the Fatherland is dedicated to King Victor Emmanuel who was the first king of unified Italy. At the front of the monument stands a large bronze statue of Emmanuel and many other stone sculptures. We were too late to visit, but at the base of the monument, there is also an interesting museum that is dedicated to the unification of Italy and the early years of its history.

If you’ve seen the movie Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn, you’ll remember that Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn pop their hands into the mouth of this massive stone figure, which is said to bite off the hands of liars. It’s not exactly known when or how this belief originated, but you too can visit the Mouth of Truth, or Bocca del Verita, and pop your own hand in for a photo opportunity even though it was closed on the day we visited. It is located outside the entrance to the Santa Maria in Cosmedin church.

저녁 먹으러 가는 길인데 Gelateria del Viale에서 후식부터 했네요. 그런데 아이스크림이 맛있었어요.
We were underway for the dinner, but we couldn't pass the ice cream shop. It was good thing to stop at Gelateria del Viale. The ice cream was very tasty.
장소는 기억이 안나는데 가시 면류관 모형을 전시하네요.
There was no sign indicating the place, but the model of crown of thorns was on display.
