부엌에 있는 수도 꼭지를 틀으면 손잡이 밑으로 흘러 나오는 물이 싱크대 밑으로 흘러 들어 수납장을 적시는 것이 심해지면서 새 수도 꼭지를 설치해야 할 정도가 되었습니다. 내가 수리를 혼자서 할 수 있을까하여 머나드(Menard)에 들려 알아 보니 혼자 할 수 있을 것도 같아 용기를 내기로 하였습니다.

먼저 새 수도꼭지를 사기 전에 현재 사용하는 수도꼭지가 어떤 것인가를 확인 하십시오. 싱크대 밑으 보면 구멍이 몆개 인가 알 수 있으며 이에 맞는 수도꼭지를 구입하세요. 저희 것은 분무형 수도꼭지가 달렸고 밑에 사진에서 보듯이 구멍이 4개인 수도꼭지가 필요 했습니다. 옛날 것은 냉온수관이 왼쪽과 오른 쪽에 있는 구멍을 통해, 분무 수도꼭지는 중간 구멍으로 연결돼 있었는데 새 수도꼭지는 모든 급수관들이 중간 구멍으로 연결돼 있습니다.

수리를 시작하며 제일 먼저 해야 할 것은 싱크대 밑 수납장 안에 있는 냉온수 차단 밸브를 잠그고 급수관을 분리하세요. 그리고 다음 작업에 들어가기전에 안정 안경을 착용 하십시오. 얼굴 위로 많은 것들이 떨어 질 것입니다.

이제 수도꼭지를 고정하고 있는 너트를 풀어 주세요. 공간이 별로 없어 아마 너트 풀어 주는 공사가 제일 시간을 많이 잡아 먹을 것입니다. 현재 사용하는 것이 분무형 속도꼭지가 달려 있는 것이라면 분무형 수도꼭지 밑의 너틀를 풀어주고 싱크대 밑에 있는 너트는 푸느니 연결 호스를 그냥 자르십시오. 다시 쓸 것 아니니깐요. 너트를 다 풀었으면 수도꼭지를 들어 낸 후 싱크대에 있는 물때와 배관용 퍼티를 깨끗하게 씻어 주세요.

필요하다면 배관용 퍼티를 새 수도꼭지와 한께 온 플레이트에 바른 후 (저는 사용 안했어도 괜찮은 것 같지만) 새 수도꼭지를 싱크대 구멍에 맞춰 삽입하세요. 새 수도꼭지가 제자리에 놓여져 있으면 싱크대 밑에서 먼저 손으로 너트를 조른 후 새 수도꼭지의 위치를 다시 한 번 확인하세요. (다른 사람이 위에서 새 수도꼭지를 잡아 주면 더 쉽게 할 수 있습니다) 그 후 렌치 등을 사용하여 조르십시오. 만약 배관용 퍼트가 삐져 나와 있으면 짤라서 없애 주시구요.

이제 남은 일은 모든 급수관을 다시 연결해 주면 됩니다. 먼저 새 급수관을 낡은 급수관을 분리한 곳에 다시 연결해 주세요. 이 때 너트를 조일 때 너무 꽉 조이지 마십시오. 그리고 분무형 수도꼭지 급수관을 연결해 주면 됩니다. 모엔 (Moen) 분무형 수도꼭지는 급수관 연결이 (가운데 있는 것) 아주 쉽게 되어 있습니다.

자 이제 차단 밸브를 열어 주시고 어디 물이 새는 곳이 있는지 확인 하십시오. 물이 새는 곳이 없다면 당신은 이제 아주 훌륭한 배관공이 되셨습니다.

When the kitchen faucet was turned on, the water was leaking through the faucet and the closet was getting wet. I think it was about the time to replace the faucet. I stopped by Mernard to find out if this task is something I could try by myself and I have decided to try it.

There are few things you should know before you go out and buy a new faucet. Unless you are replacing the kitchen sink with the faucet, You need to verify how many holes you have. Our faucet has four holes including a hole for sprayer. The one we had separate holes for hot and cold water supply pipe and two holes connecting the faucet and sprayer, but new faucet we bought uses only one hole for the all supply pipes and second hole for the sprayer.

The first task you have to do is close the hot and cold water shutoff valves and separate the pipes in the closet under the sink. Please wear a safety glass before you do next step. There is a danger that a lot of things could fall on your face during nest steps.

From under neath to the faucet, loosen the nuts from the existing faucet. There are not a lot space to work on and it will take most of your time. You can disassemble the sprayer head and, to save a time, cut the connecting hose since you won't use it again. After you loosened all of nuts, remove the old faucet and clean the area where the old faucet was.

If it is needed, put the plummer's putty on the plate of new faucet. Then, put the new faucet in place and tighten the nuts from the under the sink. Check the placement of the faucet before you tighten them using the ranch. (It is easier if somebody holds the new faucet from the top while you tighten the nuts from the underneath) If necessary, clean the putty around the faucet.

The last thing you have to do is to connect the lines came with new faucet to the shutoff valve (or where you disconnected the old pipes). Do not tighten the nut too much. Then, connect the supply pipe for the sprayer. Moen model was easy to connect two pipes until they snap on (The pipe in the middle of the picture).

You have connected everything you have to. Now is the test time if there is any place leaking the water. If leaks, tighten the connection. Otherwise, you are a successful PLUMMER of the day.
