오늘은 바쁜 일정이라 호텔에서 컨티넨탈 아침으로 간단한 식사를 하고 일찍 출발합니다. 오늘 갈 거리는 4시간 30분을 운전해야할 321 Km 거리 입니다. Since we have the busy schedule ahead today, we started early just having the simple continental breakfast at the hotel. We have to drive 4.5 hours and 200 miles.

"동부의 그랜드 케년"으로 알려져 있는 린빌 협곡은 미국 동부의 가장 깊고 아름다운 협곡입니다. 린빌 강이 27 미터의 거대한(?) 폭포에서 시작하여 19 km의 긴 린빌 협곡으로 흘러 갑니다. 이 폭포는 노스 케롤라이나에서 가장 많이 사진을 찍는 곳 아니면 그 중의 하나입니다.
Known as the "Grand Canyon of the
East," Linville Gorge is the deepest and one of the most scenic gorges in
the eastern United States. The Linville River enters the 12 mile long
gorge at the magnificent(?) 90 ft Linville Falls, and is one of the most (if not
the most) photographed waterfalls in North Carolina.

어퍼(upper) 폭포 전망대에서는 강물이 27 미터 높이의 아래 폭포(lower fall)에서 떨어져 좁은 협곡으로 흘러 가는 것을 볼 수 있습니다. 다음 전망대인 굴둑 전망대는 방문자 센터에서 1.1 Km 떨어진 곳인데 처음으로 두 폭포들과 들러싼 절벽들를 볼 수 있는 곳이기도하고요. 전망대 이른은 폭포 옆 튀어나온 바위가 굴뚝같다고하여 지어진 이름입니다.
At the Upper Falls overlook, watch the water rush into a narrow canyon before it plunges 90 feet over the lower falls. The next overlook, Chimney View, is 7/10 of a mile from the visitor center, is the first point on the trail where the lower falls can be seen. It offers an excellent chance to photograph both the upper and lower falls, along with the impressive cliffs. The overlook is named for the chimney-like outcroppings located to the right of the waterfall.

The Erwins View Trail ends at Erwins View Overlook, almost a mile from the Visitors Center. From this vantage point, enjoy a panoramic view of the Linville Gorge. The trail does climb some more, and it's a bit more strenuous. There are two overlooks at Erwin's View. The first one you come to is down on the right and has a view of the gorge downstream. From here, climb up to your left just a short distance to the main overlook. It's on top of a large, flat-topped boulder which you'll reach by climbing up a set of stairs. You're a bit farther from the falls here and you not only get a spectacular view of them, but also of the surrounding mountains and ridges. Elevation is here 3330', the highest point on the hike.

The more challenging trail is marked to "Linville Gorge", taking you down 3/4 miles to the base of the waterfall. The trail includes many steps and a few steep climbs, and takes you to the base. It also takes you to the Plunge Basin Overlook (1/2 mile from Visitor Center) to view the lower falls and the Chimneys.

와이즈맨 뷰 길에 있는 산림청 건물을 지나 좀 가다보면 왼쪽에 조그마한 주차장이 있습니다. 이곳이 여관 주인이 알려준 숨겨진 보석이네요. 가을에 단풍이 아주 아름다운 곳이라고 하네요.
If you drive past USFS building on Wiseman's View Rd, there is small pull out on the left. This was a hidden gem which the innkeeper told us. The innkeeper said this is beautiful place to watch the fall color.

Bronze sculpture funded by war vets salutes highly trained, heroic canine soldiers killed in action. Artist Lena Toritch sculpted a Belgian Malinois outfitted in a combat vest with camera.

공수특전대 기념관 건너편에는 재향군인 공원이 있습니다. 이 공원은 육 해 공군의 모든 재향군인들을 기념하여 세워진 처음으로 노스케롤라이나 주에서 지정한 공원입니다. 공원 자체는 조그마한 하지만 아주 예쁘게 구성되어 있습니다. 한번 들려 보세요.
The Veterans Park located across from Airborne and Special Operations Museum. It is the first state park dedicated to military veterans from all branches of the Armed Services. It is small park, but it is build beautifully.

"노숙자 예수"가 이 교회 앞 벤치를 주거지로 정한 후 지나가던 사람이 순경을 부르느 일 조차 있었습니다. 머리와 팔은 감춰져있지만 십자가에 못 박힌후 생긴 발의 상처는 노출되 있습니다. 예수를 노숙자로 또는 항상 보던 예수의 초상화와 다른 모습을 보는 것이 아주 이상한 기분을 주네요.
After the "Homeless Jesus" took the residence on the bench in front of the church, even the police was called by the passerby. The face and hands are covered, but the feet with wounds from the crucifixion are exposed. It is surreal to see Jesus as homeless and not in the usual portrait of Jesus.

콘코드 근처에 있는 리드 금광은 일반인들이 방문 할 수 있는 하나 남은 지하 금광입니다. 그리고 이금광은 미국에서 처음으로 기록된 사업용 금광입니다. 저희들도 저희들의 운을 기대해 볼 수 있을까 했는데요 너무 늦어 기회를 놓쳤습니다.
The Reed Gold Mine, outside of Concord, is the only underground gold mine open to the public. It is also said to be the location of the first documented commercial gold find in America. We may wanted to try our luck on new gold rush, but we were too late to try it.
방은 재체적으로깨끗했는데 카펫의 짙은 색갈 때문에 방바닥이 얼마나 깨끗한지 모르겠습니다. 아침은 유럽식 식사 였는데 보통 정도였으나 커피는 못마실 정도였습니다. 아마 다음에는 다른 호텔을 찾아 몰 것입니다.
The room was clean, but we weren't quite sure of the dark colored carpet. The breakfast was usual continental variety, but the coffee needed improvement. We may try other places next time.

저녁 시간이 끝날 때쯤이어서인지 식당 손님들은 없었지만 많은 사람들이 아이스크림을 사러 들리곤하드군요. 작은 식당이었지만 평이 좋아 들렸습니다. 살라드와 곁들여 나오는 라자냐 (18불)는 아주 맛있게 먹었습니다. 일출(sunrise) 햄버거(13불)는 소고기, 돼지고기, 달걀 프라이가 얹어 나오는데 무척커요. 그런데 맛도 좋습니다. 그 중 그저 보통 정도의 음식은 와플 감자 튀김이었습니다. 알프 튀김 (6불)은 생각보다 별로 였지만 다른 음식들은 좋은 경험이었습니다. 후식으론 "유명"하다는 바닐라 아이스 크림에 얹은 바나나 포스트 (5불)을 먹어 보았는데 흑설탕과 계피 맛 이외엔 특별한 것이 없는 음식이었습니다.
It was the end of supper time when we got to the place and the restaurant had no other quests except few people who stopped to buy the ice cream. It was a small place for the restaurant with pretty good review. Meat Lasagna ($18.00) with side salad was real good. Sunrise Burger (beef patty, pulled pork and fried egg) ($13.00) was huge and tasty. The only average food was the waffle fries. Loaded Alf Fry ($6.00) was nothing special, but the rest of food was a great experience. The Banana Foster over Vanilla Ice Cream ($5.00) had taste of brown sugar and cinnamon. It was quite different than we ever had, but we are not sure about "good".

이 박물관은 2차 대전부터 현재까지의 미 육군 공수특전대 역사를 보여줍니다. 본관은 낙하산부대, 글라이더, 특수작전부대 약사를 전시하고 있습니다. 그리고 월남 전쟁, 모가디슈 전쟁, 아프카니스탄 에서 작전등을 특별 전시관에 전시하고 있습니다.
The museum displays the history of US Army Airborne and Special Operation units from World War II to the present. The main exhibit gallery tells the history of US parachute, glider and Special Operations forces. The special section displays the Airborne in Vietnam with "the animal called POW", the battle of Mogadishu and Operations in Afghanistan.
이 박물관은 문을 연지가 오래 되지않아 유물둘 보다는 주로 최근의 전쟁들을 기념하는 왁스 인형, 모형 또는 읽을 자료들을 전시하고 있습니다. 그러나 모가디슈 존쟈애서 군인이 사용하던 노트북 컴푸터, 군인이 전사하기 전에 아내에게 보낸 편지 등 유품둘도 전시되 있습니다.
It is a young museum that commemorates more recent conflicts, so it is heavy on wax figures, mock-ups, and reading material with not as many artifacts. But there are some personal artifacts of soldiers, notebook used in one of Mogadishu battle and letter to wife from one soldier before his death.
