제이드가든 수목원

제이드가든 수목원은 우거진 산림 속에 유럽 각국의 정원을 모티브로 테마정원을 만들고, 계절마다 서로 다른 아름다움을 뽐내는 3,900여 종의 꽃과 나무로 장식한 수목원이다. ‘숲 속에서 만나는 작은 유럽’을 모토로 하고 있는 만큼 이곳의 건물이나 정원의 조경에서는 유럽의 분위기가 물씬 풍긴다. 제이드가든 수목원에서는 붓꽃류, 부들류, 버드나무류 등 물가에서 잘 자라는 수생식물들을 심어놓은 수생식물원, 사계절에 따라 꽃과 잎의 색깔이 바뀌며 전체적으로 큰 물결을 이루는 꽃물결원, 고산지역에서 자라는 다양한 식물들을 전시하는 고산온실, 세계 각국의 만병초들을 전시해둔 로도덴드론가든 등 평소 쉽게 보기 힘든 식물들을 볼 수 있다. The Moss Garden preserves the natural beauty of its pre-arboretum past. Walking along the valley's green tapestry with the sound of flowing water evokes a mystical atmosphere.

참고: 제이드가든 수목원은 다른 수목원에 비해 넓은 수목원도 아니고 더 많은 종류의 식물들이 있는 것은 아니지만 적은 방문객 덕분에 조용히 감상하며 즐길 수 있었습니다.

Note: Jade Garden Arboretum is not as large as other arboretums, nor does it have a wider variety of plants. However, thanks to the small number of visitors, we were able to quietly appreciate and enjoy the gardens.

잣두부와 메멜국수 간판이 눈을 끌어 들렸습니다. 먹어 보고 싶어던 것들이 포함된 막국수 2인 세트 (28,000 원), 물막국수 (10,000 원), 비빔막국수 (10,000원)을 주문했습니다. 잣두부는 고소한데 잣이 조금 더 섞여으면 더 고소할런지여. 그러나 보쌈과 순두부는 괜찮았어요. 물/비빔 막국수는 특히 맛있다는 기억이 없네요. 마지막으로 표고 메멜전으로 입가심했구요.(평점 3*)

The sign for pine nut tofu and buckwheat noodles caught our eye and we decided to stop for the lunch. We ordered the Makguksu Set for 2 ($19.50), mul and bibim makguksu ($7.00 each) since the set included the dishes we'd been wanting to try. The pine nut tofu was savory, but we wonder if it would have been even more flavorful with a little more pine nuts. However, the bossam and soft tofu were okay. We don't remember the mul or bibim makguksu being particularly tasty. We finished off the meal with shiitake buckwheat pancakes. (Review 3*)

삼육대학교 원예학과 교수인 한상경교수가 미국에서 교환교수로 재임하던 때에 세계 각국의 정원과 식물원을 방문하면서 대한민국의 아름다움을 담은 한국 정원에 대한 필요성을 느꼈고, 한국으로 돌아와 10만평 정도의 부지를 가평에 위치한 축령산 자락에 정원을 만들기 시작하였고 지금까지 이어지고 있다.

1996년 5월에 개원한 수목원은 총10만평(33만㎡)의 면적으로, 백두산 식물 300여종을 포함한 약 5,000여 종의 식물을 관람할 수 있다. 하경정원, 아침광장, 하늘길, 분재정원, 한국정원 등 약 22여개의 야외 주제정원으로 구성되어 있으며, 산수경온실, 초화온실, 알파인온실 총 3곳의 실내 전시 시설도 보유하고 있다. 특히, 아름다운 대한민국의 금수강산을 실제 한반도 지형 모양으로 조성하여 최고 절정의 꽃으로 표현한 하경정원 (Sunken Garden)은 관광객들의 관심을 가장 많이 끄는 곳이다. (평점 3*)

Professor Han Sang-kyung, a professor of horticulture at Sahmyook University, visited gardens and botanical gardens around the world while serving as an exchange professor in the United States. He recognized the need for a Korean garden that captures the beauty of Korea. Upon returning to Korea, he began creating a garden on approximately 100,000 pyeong (approximately 330,000 sq ft) of land at the foot of Chukryeongsan Mountain in Gapyeong, and a development is continuing to this day.

Opened in May 1996, the arboretum spans a total area of ​​approximately 330,000 sq ft and features approximately 5,000 plant species, including approximately 300 species native to Baekdu Mountain. The arboretum consists of approximately 22 outdoor themed gardens, including the Hagyeong Garden, Morning Plaza, Sky Path, Bonsai Garden, and Korean Garden. It also boasts three indoor exhibition facilities: the Landscape Greenhouse, the Herb and Flower Greenhouse, and the Alpine Greenhouse. 콘크리트의 미니멀한 건축물의 대가 안도타다오가 설계한 뮤지엄 산(Museum SAN)은 '한솔문화재단'이 2013년 5월 개관하였습니다. 원주 '오크밸리' 내부에 위치한 박물관은 1997년부터 운영되던 종이 박물관과 한솔그룹에서 수집한 '청조컬렉션' 300여 작품이 전시된 미술관으로 이루어져 있습니다. 스페이스_SPACE, 아트_ART, 네이처_NATURE에서 따 온 Museum SAN은 “공간, 예술, 자연”의 다양한 스펙트럼이 이곳의 특징입니다.

Museum SAN designed by Tadao Ando, ​​a master of minimalist concrete architecture, opened in May 2013 by the Hansol Cultural Foundation. It is located within Oak Valley in Wonju and consists of a paper museum, which has been in operation since 1997, and an art gallery displaying over 300 pieces from the "Cheongjo Collection" collected by the Hansol Group. The name "Museum SAN," derived from the acronym for "Space," "Art," and "Nature," signifies the diverse spectrum of space, art, and nature that defines this place.

들어서자 눈에 딱 들어 온 청사과. 이 작품의 제목이 '영원한 청춘'이라고하는데 상큼한 청춘을 느끼게하네요.

Upon entering, a green apple immediately caught our eye. The title of this work, "Eternal Youth," evokes a refreshing sense of youth.

뮤지엄산은 웰컴센터, 플라워가든, 워터가든, 본관, 명상관, 스톤가든, 제임스터렐관으로 구성되어 있습니다. 시간 관계상 웰컴센터에 계신 직원들의 추천을 따라 명상관과 제임스터렐관은 들리지 않기로하고 다른 곳들에서 더 시간을 보내기로 했습니다.

Museum SAN consists of the Welcome Center, Flower Garden, Water Garden, Main Building, Meditation Hall, Stone Garden, and James Turrell Hall. Due to time constraints and with the recommendation of the Welcome Center staff, we decided to skip the Meditation Hall and James Turrell Hall and instead spend more time in other areas.

본관에는 종이박물관(페이퍼갤러리)과 청조갤러리가 있어 한국 전통 종이 문화와 현대 미술을 함께 만날 수 있습니다.

종이박물관은 뮤지엄산 초기부터 함께해온 곳으로 1997년 국내최초 종이전문박물관으로 개관한 이래 다양한 공예품 및 한지의 제작 방법 등 서적을 수집, 연구, 보존하고 있는 곳입니다. 종이박물관은 현재 상설 전시관으로 운영 중입니다. 그 밖에도 판화공방을 비롯한 각종 체험형 전시관도 유로로 운영되고 있습니다.

The Main Building houses the Paper Museum (Paper Gallery) and the Cheongjo Gallery, offering a glimpse into traditional Korean paper culture and contemporary art.

The Paper Museum is located in Museum SAN. Opened in 1997 as Korea's first paper museum, it has been collecting, researching, and preserving various crafts and books on the production of hanji (Korean paper). The Paper Museum currently operates as a permanent exhibition hall. Various interactive exhibits, including a printmaking workshop, are also available for a fee.

원주시에 거주하는 1,000여 명의 어린이들이 아이들의 시선으로 바라본 태양의 모습을 그린 약 2,000장의 그림으로 구성되어 있었는데 완전 감동이었습니니다

The exhibition, comprised of approximately 2,000 drawings by approximately 1,000 children living in Wonju, depicting the sun as seen through their eyes, was truly moving.

신라고분을 모티브로 만들어진 9개의 스톤 마운드가 전시되어 있다. 한반도의 8도와 제주도를 상징하는 고분 형식의 돌무덤이 위치하고 있다. 돌의 정원은 강원도 원주시 귀래면에서 가지고 온 돌을 이용하여 만들어졌다. 석재로만 만들어진 공간이기에 조금 색다른 산책을 즐길 수 있습니다.

The Stone Garden was created using stones brought from Gwirae-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do. Being built entirely of stone, it offers a unique stroll.

물이 워낙 고요해서 주변 풍경들이 물 위에 떠있는 것 같은 풍경을 자아낸다. 이 워터가든은 본관까지 이어지며 심지어 본관을 둘러싸고 있다. 많은 관광객들의 인증샷 장소로 애용한다.

국수 음식들도 먹어보고 싶었지만 얼큰한 것이 먹고 싶어 2인분 이상이야만 된다는 김치찌게(28,000 원)를 주문했습니다. 가격이 좀 센편인것 같지만... 그런데 공기밥도 1,000원이라네요. 그렇지만 밑반찬과 음식들 맛이 괜찮았어요. (평점 3*)

정방사

충북 제천시 수산면 능강리 산52-1

입장시간: 04:00 - 19:00

정방사로 가려면 능강교 옆 좁은 도로를 따라 약 1.6km 정도를 올라가야 합니다. 도로가 좁아서 마주오는 차와 교행도 어려워 중간중간 교행 공간을 만들어 놓은 도로입니다. 이 길을 따라 올라가면 작은 주차장이 있고, 주차장에서 조금만 걸어 올라가면 정방사입니다.

충주호가 한 눈에 들어오는 금수산 정상 가까운 곳, 거대한 암벽 아래 자리잡은 작은 사찰입니다. 신라 문무왕 2년(662)에 의상대사가 세운 절이라고 합니다.

Jeongbangsa Temple

To reach Jeongbangsa Temple, you must climb approximately 1.6 km along the narrow road next to Neunggang Bridge. Because the road is narrow, there are spaces created along the way to pass oncoming vehicles. Following this road leads to a small parking lot, and Jeongbangsa Temple is a short walk away.

This small temple sits beneath a massive rock face near the summit of Geumsusan Mountain, offering a panoramic view of Chungju Lake. It is said to have been founded by Great Monk Uisang in the second year of King Munmu's reign (662) of the Silla Dynasty.

정방사에서 가장 먼저 만나게 되는 건물이 정방사의 백미인 "해우소" 입니다. 천국에있는 화장실이라며 반드시 볼일을 봐야 한단다. 조망을 보면 이유를 알게 됩니다.

The first building you encounter at Jeongbangsa Temple is the temple's highlight, the "Haewooso." It's said to be a heavenly restroom, and one must use it. The view from it makes it clear why.

원통보전 앞 마당에서 내려다 보는 청풍호반의 하경(下景)은, 세상 사람들의 삼라만상을 모두 잊게 할 만큼 전망이 빼어나다.

The view of Cheongpung Lake and surrounding area, overlooked from the courtyard in front of Wontongbojeon Hall, is breathtaking and would make one forget all about the worldly affair.

원통보전 뒤 절벽아래 바위틈에는 석간수라는 약수가 차고 달콤한 맛으로 갈증을 풀어주는데 사시사철 마르지 않고 나온다고 합니다.

In the crevices of the cliffs behind Wontongbojeon Hall, there is a refreshing spring called Seokgansu, a cold and sweet mineral water that quenches thirst year-round.

원통보전에 주불로 모셔져 있는 나무로 만든 관음보살좌상은 비교적 작은 규모이나 전형적인 조선 중기 보살상의 특징을 잘 보여주고 있습니다. 불상은 문화재로 지정된 직후 도난당하여 현재까지 행방을 알 수 없어 현재 사찰측에서는 모습을 본뜬 모사품을 봉안하고 있습니다.

The wooden seated Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva enshrined in Wontongbojeon Hall, though relatively small in size, epitomizes the typical characteristics of mid-Joseon Dynasty Bodhisattva statues. The Buddha statue was stolen shortly after being designated a cultural asset, and its whereabouts remain unknown. The temple currently enshrines a replica.

정방사에는 또 특이한 지장전 건물이 있습니다. 정방사의 본당인 원통보전 왼쪽 아래에 있습니다. 이 지장전은 지장보살상의 뒷편이 그대로 바위입니다. 그러니까 지장전은 삼면만 건물이고 나머지 한쪽은 바위를 그대로 벽체로 쓰고 있습니다. 그리고 지장보살상 뒤 바위에 금박을 입힌 지장보살의 그림이 있습니다. 마치 지장보살상의 금색 그림자 같아 보이는 형태로, 여느 사찰에선 보기 힘든 구조입니다. (평점 4*)

Located to the lower left of Wontongbojeon Hall, the temple's main hall, this Jijangjeon Hall features a rock wall behind the Jijang Bosal statue. Jijangjeon Hall has the regular building walls on three sides, with the remaining side using the natural rock as a wall. Behind the Jijang Bosal statue, a gilded image of Jijang Bosal is carved into the rock. It resembles the statue's golden shadow, a rare sight in any temple. (Review: 4*)

지나가다 잠시 쉬러 들렸는데 쉼터와 풍경이 너무 아름다워 시간을 보냈네요. 그리고 이곳의 특산믈인 개복숭아 초청 (12,000원)을 구입했습니다.

We stopped for a quick break, but we stayed a lot longer than we planned. The rest area and scenery were so beautiful that I spent a lot of time there. I also purchased a local specialty, a peach sachet ($8.40).

배론성지교회

충북 제천시 봉양읍 구학리 640

배론성지는 한국 초대교회의 신자들이 박해를 피해 숨어 들어와 화전과 옹기를 구워서 생계를 유지하며 신앙을 키워 나간 교우촌으로서 마을이 위치한 계곡이 배[舟] 밑창을 닮았다 하여 배론[舟論]으로 불린 곳입니다. 1801년 신유박해 때 황사영(1775∼1801)이 이곳의 옹기굴에 숨어 있으면서 조선 교회의 박해상황과 외국의 도움을 청하는 내용의 일명 "황사영 백서"를 작성하여 중국 베이징 주교에게 보내려다 발각되어 순교한 곳이기도 합니다.

1855년에는 한국 최초의 신학교인 "성요셉 신학당"이 세워져 외국인 신부가 조선인 신학생을 가르쳤고, 1861년 최양업 신부(우리나라 최초의 유학생이며 김대건 신부에 이어 두 번째 신부가 됨)가 문경에서 병사하자 시신을 이곳에 안장했습니다. 성요셉 신학당은 한문과 한글뿐 아니라 수사학·철학·신학 등도 가르쳤으며 한국 천주교 교육의 요람이 되었으나, 1866년 병인박해 때 외국인 신부가 체포되어 순교함으로써 폐쇄되었습니다.

배론성지는 천주교 신자에게는 매우 성스러운 장소이지만 주변 풍광이 매우 고요하고 아름다운 곳입니다. (평점 4*)

Baeron Holy Land Church

Baeron Holy Land is a village where believers of the early Korean Church fled persecution, earning a living by slash-and-burn farming and pottery making, while cultivating their faith. The valley where the village is located resembles the bottom of a boat, hence the name Baeron (舟論). During the Sinyu Persecution of 1801, Hwang Sa-yeong (1775-1801) hid in a cave here, where he wrote the so-called "Hwang Sa-yeong White Paper," detailing the persecution of the Joseon Church and seeking foreign aid. He attempted to send it to the Bishop of Beijing, China, but was caught and martyred.

In 1855, Korea's first seminary, "St. Joseph's Theological Seminary," was established, where foreign priests taught Korean seminarians. In 1861, when Father Choi Yang-eop (the first Korean student studying abroad and the second Korean priest after Father Kim Dae-geon) died in Mungyeong, his body was laid to rest here. St. Joseph's Theological Seminary taught not only Chinese characters and Hangul, but also rhetoric, philosophy, and theology, becoming the cradle of Catholic education in Korea. However, it was closed in 1866 after the foreign priest was arrested and martyred during the Byeongin Persecution.

Baeron Shrine is a sacred site for Catholics, but the surrounding scenery is also remarkably tranquil and beautiful. (Review 4*)

단풍나무 앞에 있는 초가집은 '성 요셉 신학당'입니다. 1855년 프랑스 선교사 메스트로 신부가 설립했는데 교우촌 회장 장주기 요셉이 자신의 집을 신학당으로 봉헌하였다고 합니다.

The thatched house in front of the maple tree is the 'St. Joseph's Theological Seminary.' The seminary was founded in 1855 by French missionary Father Mestre, and it is said that the head of the parish community, Joseph Jang Ju-gi, donated his house to the seminary.

메뉴 선택이 별로 없는데 곤드레 나물밥 (11,000원/1인) 은 2인이상만 주문이 됀다하여 그렇게 결정하였습니다. 나물들을 넣고 비벼 먹고 보니 잘한 짖이었네요. 실내 장식은 통나무 집을 연상케하는데 식사 때인지 기다리는 손님들도 꽤 있네요. 저희들은 몰랐는데 예약 필수라하네요.

The menu doesn't offer much, and the Gondre Vegetable Rice ($7.75/person) was only available for two or more people, so we decided to order that. After mixing the vegetables and eating, we realized it was a good choice. The interior is reminiscent of a log cabin, and there were quite a few customers waiting, perhaps because it was lunch time. We didn't know, but reservations were recommended.
