Europe: 7 Cities in 23 Days- Day 6: Travel to Vienna (유럽: 23일 동안 7 도시 방문 - 여섯째날: 비엔나로 이동)

오늘은 부다페스트에서 기차로 비엔나로 이동합니다. 부다페스트 역에 도착하면 승강장은 이층으로 올라가아합니다. 우리는 짐 선반 근처 자리의 예약표를 샀는데 의자는 편한했고 조용했습니다. 비엔나까지 몇시간을 입석으로 여행하기를 원하지 않는다면 예약석을 (24 유로) 구입하세요. 기차가 만원이드군요. 헝가리 쪽은 표점검은 있었으나 신원 점검은 없었는데 오스트리아 쪽은 점검이 더 심하더군요. 기차 안에서 젊은 외국인들이 아주 자세하게 검문을 받는 것을 목격했습니다.

We are traveling to Vienna by train from Budapest. The train platform is on the second floor. We had the seats near the luggage rack and the ride was quiet and comfortable. If you need the rest during the train ride, we suggest purchasing the reserved seat (€ 24) since the train was almost full. There was a ticket check, but no ID check in Hungary, but the ID check was more thorough once we were in Austria. We saw several young men were questioned extensively.

비엔나 스카이라인이 역에서 저희들을 환영하더니 공원에 있는 조각이 비를 잊게 만드네요.

The Vienna skyline welcomed us at the train station and the sculpture in the park helped us to forget the rain.

호텔에서 숙박 수속을 마치고 그 유명한 성 스테판 성당을 찾아 갑니다.
After the check in at the hotel, the first place we wanted to visit was the famous St Stephen’s Cathedral before the dinner.

스테판 광장에 있는 대성당은 몇백년 동안에 걸친 보수 작업으로 뒤죽박죽의 건축 양식과 장식 양식을 보여 줍니다. 이 성당의 특징들은 “거인의 문”이라는 별명을 가진 이 성당의 가장 오래된 현관, 로마네스크와 고딕 양식의 외관, 웅장한 뽀죽 탑, 그리고 몇 백개의 유색 타일로 흥미로운 무늬를 이룬 지붕입니다.

The cathedral located in St Stephen Square boasts an eclectic mish-mash of architectural and decorative styles that reflect many renovations over hundreds of years. It features the front door nicknamed the Giant’s Door which is the oldest part of the church, the Romanesque and Gothic design of the exterior, the dominating pointed towers, and the intricately decorated main roof complete with hundreds of colour tiles forming an intriguing pattern.

고딕 형의 실내는 르네상스 미술품으로 장식되어있고 중세기 시대의 스테인 유리로 들어 오는 빛으로 꽉 찹니다.

The Gothic interior is filled with Renaissance artwork and flooded with colorful light from Medieval stain glass windows.

시간이 너무 늦어 비엔나 대재앙 때의 희생자들과 합스브르크 통치자들이 묻혀있으며 종교 지도자들이 무덤이 있는 지하 무덤은 구경할 수 없었습니다. 또한 오스트리아에서 가장 높다는 그 유명한 북쪽 탑과 남쪽 탑을 올라 가보지도 못해 씁니다. 남쪽 전망대로 올라가기위해서는 343 계단을 올라 가야하지만 북쪽 전망대는 승강기를 이용할 수 있습니다.

We did not have the time to visit the catacombs where many victims of the Great Plague of Vienna and Hapsburg rulers were laid to rest as well as tombs of local religious leaders. neither of North and South towers which are the tallest church towers in Austria. you may climb the 343 steps to the top of the South Tower or use the elevator to reach the lookout terrace at the North Tower.

현재까지도 예배당으로 사용되는 이 아름다운 성당은 국가의 상징이며 방문객들이 가장 많이 들리는 곳 중의 하나 입니다. 그러나 구름 낀 날의 성당 안은 음침했고 다른 나라에 있는 성단에 비해 특별히 인상에 남는 것은 없었습니다.

Today, this stunning cathedral remains an active house of worship, a national icon and one of top tourist attractions. However, the basilica was somewhat dreary in the gloomy weather day and it did not leave the lasting impression compared to other basilicas in other countries.

Stock-im-Eisen (못 나무)

600년 이상 된 것으로 추정되는 가문비 나무의 중앙부가 싸여 있는 유리 케이스가 Palais Equitable 저택 모퉁이에 있습니다. 나무 둥치에는 수 백년간 행운을 비는 못들이 박혀있습니다. 중세기 유럽 때 철 못을 살아있는 나무, 나무 십자가, 심지어 바위에 박는 것은 오늘날 우물이나 분수에 동전을 던지는 것과 같은 관행 이었습니다.

There is the midsection of an ancient tree enclosed in the glass case at the corner of Palais Equitable mansion. The tree is a spruce and estimated to be over 600 years old. Its trunk is studded with hundreds of nails pounded over the centuries for good luck. Back in medieval Europe, hammering iron nails into living trees, wooden crosses and even rocks was a common practice, just as throwing coins into wishing wells or fountains is today.

저녁 먹으로 팔멘하우수로 가며 찍은 거리 풍경둘. 특히 군밤 장수가 우리 어렸을 때 기억을 새롭게 하네요.

Palmenhaus at Burggarten (부르가텐에 있는 팔멘하우스)

이 식당은 온실을 개조한 것으로 세계에서 수집한 키 큰 나무와 초목들로 채워져 있는 실내 장식은 사진 찍기에 좋은 장소 입니다. 저희들이 도착 했을 때는 손님들이 꽤 많았지만 그리 오래 기다리지는 않았슴니다.

This is a greenhouse converted to a restaurant and bar with towering trees and plants from around the world. The environment provides a really good photo opportunity. The place was a little busy, but we were able to get the table without waiting too long.

유명하다는 비엔나 슈니첼 (22.60 유로)은 송아지 고기를 빵가루에 반죽해 튀긴 것 입니다. 고기 자체는 연했지만 다시 주문할 것 같지는 않네요.  체더 치즈버거 (18.90 유로)는 맛있었습니다. 영수증을 받고 "커버"비라는 것을 보고 놀라 물어 보았더니 하얀 책상보 사용료라네요. 그것도 한사람 당 3.40 유로... 놀랄만 하네요. 종업원들은 친절했고 주문하는데 도움이 되었습니다. 나중에 들으니 이 식당은 아침이나 브런치로 더 알려져있다네요.

Wiener Schnitzel (22.60 euro) is the fried, breaded veal escalope. The meat was tender but we don’t think we would order again as a meal. Cheddar Cheeseburger (18.90 euro) was better than average. There was a surprise charge which we did not understand ; “cover” charge. The server explained it is the charge for the white table cover per person. 3.40 Euro per person... Really!! The server was helpful and friendly. We heard later that you may want to try breakfast or brunch.

호텔 위치는 여행객들에게는 아주 좋은 곳입니다. 저희들이 들리고 싶은 곳들이 가까운데 있거나 대중 교통을 이용 하기에도 편했습니다. 불편한 것 없이 편하게 지냈습니다. 그런데 신기하다고 생각한 것은 샤워장이 모두 유리 벽이란 것입니다. 식구들끼리 투숙한다면 모르겠지만...

The location of the hotel was excellent for the sightseeing. It was either close to the places we wanted to visit or a short walk to take the public transportation. hotel was comfortable and no issue while staying, but one strange thing in Europe was that the the shower wall is clear glass. It could be uncomfortable unless you are a family...
