라스베가스 공항 도착 후 엔터프라이즈 카 렌털에서 빌린 차를 찾은 후 저희들이 항상 처음 들리는 곳으로 갔습니다. 그 곳은 크라운 빵집입니다. 안에 들은 팥들도 다른 빵집보다 알차게 들어 있고 맛도 항상 그대로 이구요. 많지는 않지만 테이블도 있어 커피와 함께 드실 수도 있고요. 적극 추천합니다. (평점 4*)

After arriving at the Las Vegas airport, we picked up the rental car from Enterprise Car Rental and went to the first place we always stop by. That place is Crown Bakery. The filling is very generous than other bakeries and they are always tasty. There are few tables to enjoy the bread with coffee. Highly recommended. (Review 4*)

그린랜드 슈퍼마켓 (Greenland Supermarket)에서 물과 간식을 사러 잠깐 들른 후, 점심은 저희들에겐 새로생긴(?) 한식당에 가보기로 했습니다. 점심시간 전이어서 그런지 손님이 우리뿐이었습니다. 설렁탕은 ($15.99) 국물 맛이 좀 더 진했으면 했습니다. 반면에 Soft Tofu Soup (순두부 찌개) ($15.99) 재료도 변변치 못했고 너무 매워서 다 먹을 수가 없었습니다. 반찬은 괜찮았지만, 김치는 탕 요리에 어울리도록 개선이 필요합니다.

식당 안은 벽 장식은 별로 없었지만 깨끗했고 종업원들은 친절하였습니다.  파킹은 문제가 없을 것 같습니다. (평 3*)

Tang Together

After a quick stop at Greenland Korean supermarket for water and snacks, we decided to try a new(?)(to us) soup house for lunch. Maybe because it was before the lunch hour, we were the only customer. Ox Bone Broth w/ Brisket ($15.99) should have been more thicker for better taste. On the other hand, Soft Tofu Soup ($15.99) did not have much sea foods and was too spicy and we could not finish it. The side dishes were good, but the kimchi needs improvement to have with the Korean soup dishes.

The restaurant was clean with the minimum decorations and the staff were friendly. Parking should be no problem. (Review 3*)

Timber Creek Overlook Trail (평점 3*)

방향: 고속도로 I-15에서 40번 출구로 나가서 콜롭 캐년 로드 (Kolob Canyons Road)를 따라 약 5마일을 더 갑니다.

콜롭 캐년 로드는 경치가 매우 아름다운 드라이브 코스로, "콜롭 캐년 전망대"라고 알려진 멋진 전망대가 있는 산등성이 위에서 끝납니다.

The Kolob Canyons Road is a wonderfully scenic drive and it ends high up on a ridge with a great viewpoint known as the "Kolob Canyons Viewpoint."

Timber Creek Overlook Trail은 주차장에서 남쪽으로 향하는 짧은 산책로로 능선 꼭대기에 오르면 놀라운 360도 전망을 볼수 있습니다. 완만한 경사로가 점차 Shuntavi Butte, Timber Creek, Kolob Terrace, 그리고 Pine Valley Mountains가 보이는 바위 노두로 이어집니다.

주차장에 화장실은 있으나 물은 미리 충분히 준비하세요.

날씨가 흐렸음에도 불구하고 Timber Creek Overlook에서 아름다운 일몰을 볼 수 있었습니다.

Timber Creek Overlook Trail (Review 3*)

Distance: 1.1 miles

Difficulty: Easy

Direction: Turn off Highway I-15 onto Exit 40, you’ll follow the Kolob Canyons Road for a little over five miles.

The Timber Creek Overlook Trail is a short stroll that heads south from the main parking lot to offer an amazing 360 view from the top of the ridgeline. The gently sloping trail gradually leads you up to a rock outcropping with a view of Shuntavi Butte, Timber Creek, Kolob Terrace, and the Pine Valley Mountains.

Restrooms are available in the parking lot and make sure to have plenty of water.

크리스마스 이브에서인지 세인트 조지에 문을 연 레스토랑이 별로 많지 않았습니다. 다행히도 리뷰가 매우 좋은 Korea Picnic을 찾았습니다. 하지만, 조명이 있는 외부 간판이 없어서 식당을 찾는 데는 탐정 기술이 필요했습니다.

김치찌개(13.50달러 + 잡곡밥 2.50달러)와 고등어 구이(14.50달러 + 잡곡밥 2.50달러)를 주문했습니다. 김치찌개는 괜찮았지만, 그렇게 높은 점수를 받을 수 있었는지 좀 의심스러웠습니다.  그날 재료로 마지막 남은 고등어라고 했는데 생선이 다소 마르고 조리가 제대로 되지 않았습니다. 테이블이 몇 개뿐인 작은 식당이지만, 직원들은 도움을 주려고 노력했습니다. (리뷰 2*)

There weren’t a lot of restaurants open on the Christmas eve in St George. Luckily, we found Korea Picnic with very high review. But, without any lighted outside sign, it took some detective skill to locate the restaurant.

We ordered Kimchi JJigae ($13.50 +2.50 for Multigrain rice) and Roasted Mackerel (14.50 + 2,50 for Multigrain rice). Kimchi JJigae was ok, but we weren't sure for the high mark. We suppose to get the  last Roasted Mackerel they had for the day. The fish was somewhat dry and wasn't well prepared. The place is small with only few tables, but the staff was trying to helpful. Red Hills Desert Garden

정원은 수천 개의 조명과 디스플레이로 겨울 원더랜드로 변모했습니다. 작은 공원이지만 저녁 산책을 하기에 아름다운 곳이었습니다. 추운 저녁이었지만 아이들과 함께 온 가족들을 많이 보았습니다.

Red Hills Desert Garden

The garden has been transformed to a winter wonderland with thousands of lights and displays. It is a small park, but it was beautiful place for the evening stroll. We have seen many families with their children even though it was a chilly evening.

우리는 이곳에서 매우 편안한 밤을 보냈습니다. 방은 편안한 침대와 매우 깨끗하었고 조용했습니다. 아침 식사 메뉴는 다른 호텔들과 비슷했지만 맛있게 준비되었고 직원들은 세심했습니다. (평 4*)

We spent  a very comfortable night at this place. The room was very clean with comfortable bed and quiet. The breakfast food was similar to other places, but prepared very well and the staff was attentive. (Review 4*)

오늘 우리가 방문할 두 가지 주요 명소는 리틀 인디아와 나이트 사파리입니다. 시간이 좀 촉박한 것 같지만 

Two main attractions we plan to visit are the Little India and Night Safari. It looks very tight schedule, but we would try.

리틀 인디아 (Little India)

리틀 인디아는 사람들이 활기찬 문화와 함께 싱가포르 최고의 인도 커뮤니티를 경험할 수 있는 싱가포르의 가장 특징적인 지역 중 하나입니다. 다채로운 사원, 모스크, 거리 예술, 상점들을 찾을 수 있습니다. 

리틀 인디아의 힌두교 및 불교 사원 (평가: 3*)

참고: 숭배자들을 존중하는 마음으로 단정하게 옷을 입으십시오.

Little India is one of Singapore's most characteristic neighborhood where people can experience the best of Singapore’s Indian community with its vibrant culture. You will find the colorful temples, mosques, street art, and shops.

사캬 무니 부다 가야 사원(Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple) - 1000개의 빛의 사원

사캬 무니 부다 가야 사원 (Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple)은 싱가포르에서 가장 크고 방문객이 가장 많은 절 건물 중 하나입니다. 이 건물은 1927년 태국 승려에 의해 지어졌으며 샴의 영향이 곳곳에서 뚜렷이 보입니다. 이 사찰의 가장 큰 특징은 높이 15미터, 무게 350톤에 달하는 불상이 수많은 촛불로 둘러싸여 있는 것입니다. 불상을 둘러싼 램프 체인 덕분에 종종 1,000개의 빛의 사원이라고 불리기도 합니다. 

불상 뒤에는 누워 있는 부처 모습과 제단이 있는 작은 방으로 들어가는 입구가 있습니다. 그리고 이 방에는 사원의 주요 유물 중 하나인 인도 보리수 나무 껍질 조각이 여기에 보관되어 있습니다. 고타마 왕자가 이 나무 아래에서 명상 중 깨달음을 얻고 부처가 되었다고 합니다.  천개의 빛의 사원에는 부처님의 주요 불상 외에도 많은 작은 불상과 그의 생애를 묘사한 그림들이 있습니다. 

Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple - temple of 1000 lights

The Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple is one of the largest and the most visited Buddhist cultural buildings in Singapore. It was built in the 1927 by a Thai monk, and the Siamese influences are clear to be seen throughout. The main feature of this Buddhist temple is a 15-meter-tall Buddha statue that weighs 350 tons and is surrounded by countless candles. It’s often called the Temple of 1,000 Lights, thanks to the chain of lamps surrounding the statue. 

There is an entrance to a small room with an altar, under which an image of the reclined Buddha is located, behind the statue. One of the temple’s main relics is kept here: a piece of the Bodhi Tree’s bark. It was while he meditated under that tree that the Prince Gautama reached enlightenment, thus becoming Buddha. Besides the main statue of Buddha, the Temple of a Thousand Lights features many smaller depictions too, as well as paintings that illustrate scenes from his life. 

롱산시 사원(Leong San See Temple)

롱산시 사원(Leong San See Temple)은 중국 자비의 여신인 관음(Guan Yin)을 기리기 위해 지어졌습니다. 효심과 입학 시험 등 학문적 성공을 기원하는 가족들로 붐비는 경우가 많습니다. 사당에서는 음력 중요한 날에 채식 요리를 무료로 제공합니다.

롱산시 사원의 주요 구조는 건물 전체에 밝은 빨간색과 금색 액센트를 주어 중국 궁전과 비슷합니다. 기둥과 들보에도 신화 속 존재들의 정교한 조각들이 많이 있습니다.

Leong San See Temple

Location: 371 Race Course Road, Singapore 218641

Open: Daily from 7.30 am to 5 pm

Leong San See Temple was built to honor Guan Yin (or as Guanyim), the Chinese Goddess of Mercy. It’s often packed with families praying for filial piety and academic success including successful entrance exam. The ancestral hall offers free vegetarian dishes during important days in the lunar calendar.

Leong San See Temple’s main structure resembles a Chinese palace, with bright red and gold accents throughout the building. There are also plenty of intricate carvings of mythical beings on its beams and pillars.

스리 스리니바사 페루말 사원(Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple)

장소: 397 Serangoon Road, 싱가포르 218123

운영 시간: 매일 06:15 ~ 오후 12시, 오후 6시 ~ 오후 9시

일반 사람의 눈에는 스리 스리니바사 페루말 사원(Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple)이 길 바로 아래에 있는 스리 비라마칼리아만(Sri Veeramakaliamman)과 비슷하게 보일 수도 있습니다. 외관은 주요 구조인 고푸람(Gopuram)에 붙어 있는 정교하게 디자인된 힌두교 유물들이 특징이며 건물 전체가 다채롭습니다. 이 사원은 비슈누의 화신 중 하나인 크리슈나에게 헌정된 곳이며 마할라크쉬미, 무루간 및 안자네야르를 포함한 다른 힌두교 신들의 동상도 볼 수 있습니다. 이 사원은 매일 아침과 저녁에 푸자(예배)를 통해 지역 사회를 섬기고 있습니다.

Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple

Location: 397 Serangoon Road, Singapore 218123

Open: Daily  6:15 AM to 12 PM, and 6 PM to 9 PM

To the untrained eye, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple might look similar to Sri Veeramakaliamman, just down the road. The exterior features intricately designed Hindu relics which cling to the main structure – or Gopuram – and the whole building is just as colorful. The temple is dedicated to Krishna, one of the incarnations of Vishnu. You’ll also see statues of other Hindu deities, including Mahalakshmi, Murugan, and Anjaneyar. Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple serves the local community with daily Pooja (worship sessions) in the mornings and evenings.

Acoustics Coffee Bar

2 Owen Road, Singapore

사원들을 방문 중에 비가 내리기 시작하여 계획에 없었던 Acoustics Coffee Bar에 들렀는데 생각지도 않은 좋은 식당이었네요 . 모카(SGD 6.50)는 매우 맛있는 커피였고 트러플 치즈 토스티(SGD 20.00)는 정말 맛있게 먹었습니다. (리뷰: 4*)

While visiting temples, it started raining and we made unexpected stop at Acoustics Coffee Bar and it was a pleasant surprise. Mocha (SGD 6.50) was excellent and Truffle Cheese Toastie (SGD 20.00) was very tasty. (Review: 4*)

예상보다 오래 지속된 비로 인해 시간이 너무 지연되어 스리 비라마칼리아만 사원(Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple)을 방문하는 대신, 지역 레스토랑(식당 이름은 기억나지 않음) 중 한 곳에서 점심을 먹고 세랑군 로드 (Serangoon Road)를 산책 했습니다.

After the rain delay which was longer than we hoped, instead of visiting 스리 비라마칼리아만 사원 (Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple), we decided to have a lunch at one of the local restaurant (don't remember the name of restaurant) and walk around the neighborhood of Serangoon Road.

나이트 사파리 방문중 첫 번째 목적지는 "밤 동물들의 쇼" (Creatures of the Night Show) 입니다. 쇼 시간은 매일 오후 7시 30분과 오후 9시에만 예정되어 있기 때문에 트램을 타기 전에 오후 7시 30분 쇼를 보기로 결정했습니다. 쇼는 흥미있고 교육적 이었습니다. (저희들 평가: 3*)

팁: 저희가 방문한 날은 좌석 예약이 필요 없었지만 성수기에는 미리 좌석을 예약하셔야 할 것입니다. 예역은 당일 공연 시간 2 시간전 부터 할 수 있습니다.

Our first stop at the Night Safari is the Creatures of the Night Show. Since the Night show is only scheduled at 7:30 PM and 9 PM daily, we opted to watch the 7:30 PM show before the tram ride. It was interesting and educational. (Our review: 3*)

Tip: You may have to reserve the seat during the busy season even though we did not have to. Night show bookings only open 2 hours before the show.

"밤 동물들의 쇼"를 관람하고 트램을 타기 전에 저녁을 먹기로 결정했습니다. 금강산 구경도 식후경이라고. 우리는 현금으로 밥갑을 지불했는데 영수증을 잃어버려 푸드코트에 있던 포장마차 이름과 주문한 요리 이름를 알도리가 없네요. 그러나 음식은 무척 맛있었고 관광지 음식의 기대 이상이었습니다. (평가: 4*)

After the Creatures of the Night Show, we decided to grab a dinner before the tram ride. Since we paid the bill with cash and lost the receipt. we don't have the name of food stall in food court and dishes we ordered. But the food was excellent and beyond our expectation for the food at tourist places. (Review: 4*)

"밤 동물들의 쇼" 옆에 위치한 메인 트램 정류장에서 가이드 트램을 타고 나이트 사파리 여행을 시작합니다.  40분 동안 트램을 타면 히말라야 언덕부터 동남아시아 정글까지 6개 지역을 여행하게 됩니다. (저희들 평가: 4*)

팁: 아시아 코끼리와 하마와 같은 일부 동물은 트램을 타야만 볼 수 있으므로 나이트 사파리에서 가장 먼저 해야 할 일입니다.

Start off your Night Safari journey on a guided tram ride at the main tram stop located next to the Creatures of the Night Show. This 40-minute tram ride will take you to six geographical regions, from the Himalayan hills to the Southeast Asian jungles.

Tip: Some animals like the Asian elephants and hippos can only be seen through the tram ride, so you should definitely make this your first order of business at Night Safari.

도보로 산책로 걷기: 왈라비 트레일(Wallaby Trail), 이스트 로지 트레일(East Lodge Trail), 레오파드 트레일(Leopard Trail), 낚시 고양이 트레일(Fishing Cat Trail) 등 4가지 산책로를 따라가며 서식지에 있는 다양한 동물들을 가까이서 만날 수 있습니다.

Walk the trails on foot: You may follow four different walking trails — Wallaby Trail, East Lodge Trail, Leopard Trail, and Fishing Cat Trail — to get up close with different sets of animals in their habitats.

참고:

1) 모든 것을 볼 수 있고 카메라에 몇 장을 담을 수 있을 만큼 빛이 충분했습니다. 그리고 적어도 한 번은 방문할 가치가 있었습니다.

2) 저희가 나이트 사파리를 방문한 날에는 나이트 쇼를 보기 위해 줄을 서서 기다리는 시간이 없었지만 트램을 타기위해서는 몇 분 정도 기다려야 했습니다. 아마 성수기에는 대기 시간이 꽤 길 수 있으니 이 점을 염려헤서 계획을 하셔야 할 것입니다.

Note:

1) There is enough light to see everything and to capture some of them in your cameras. And it is worth to visit at least once. 

2) The day we visited the Night Safari, there was no line for the Night Show, but there were few minutes wait for the tram ride. We guessed that you need to plan for the longer queue time during the busy season. 

시간이 좀 더 있었으면 가보고 싶었던 곳들:

무스타파 센터: 디자이너 제품을 저렴한 가격에 판매하는 24시간 쇼핑몰입니다.

스리 비라마칼리아만 사원 (Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple)

참고: 대중교통을 이용하지 않고 호텔에서 리틀 인디아와 나이트 사파리까지 택시를 이용했는데 관광 시간을 더 가질 수있었던 것이 택시 비용에 비해 그만한 가치가 있었습니다.

Mustafa Centre: a 24-hour shopping mall that offers designer products at low prices.

Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple

Note: We used a taxi from hotel to Little India and to Night Safari rather than using the public transportation. With the limited time, the taxi expenses were well worth it.

HSBC Rain Vortex Light & Sound 쇼 시청하기

떠나는 날 HSBC Rain Vortex을 구경하기 위해 공항에 조금 일찍 도착했습니다. 

We went to the airport a little early to check out the HSBC Rain Vortex.

HSBC Rain Vortex는 Jewel Changi 공항의 중심부에 위치하고 있습니다. 높이 40m로 세계에서 가장 높은 실내 폭포입니다. 아마 매일 오후 7시 30분부터 오후 11시 30분까지 매시간 간격으로 진행되는 쇼를 보았으면 더 인상적이었겠지만 낮에 본 폭포는 그저그저.

The HSBC Rain Vortex sits right in the heart of Jewel Changi Airport. It's the world's tallest indoor waterfall at 40 meters high. It would have been more impressive to see the show that runs every hour from 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM daily, but the falls seen during the day were just so-so.

비행기 탈때까지 시간이 있어 허기를 매우려고 교자 우동(SGD 16.70)을 주문했습니다. 맛은 괜찮았습니다. (평가 2*)

Since we had time until our flight, we ordered Gyoza Udon (SGD 16.70) to satisfy our hunger. The taste was better than we expected (Review: 2*)

참고:

공항에서 코코넛 스프레드인, 카야보틀(SGD 3.90)을 구입했는데, 매장 직원이 기내 반입 수하물로 허용한다고 했으나 보안요원에 의해 압수당했습니다. 허용 품목 및 수량을 확인해주세요.

Note:

We bought the coconut spread, Kaya Bottle (SGD 3.90), at the airport since the store staff said ok for the carry-on luggage, but it was confiscated by security. Please check the allowed items and volume.

4 Days in Singapore Day 3 (싱가포르에서 4일 세째날)

이스타나 공원 (Istana Park)

이 공원은 싱가포르 시내 중심에 있으며 싱가포르 대통령 관저인 이스타나 정문 맞은편에 위치해 있습니다. 비교적 작은 공원이고 우리가 방문하는 동안 다른 방문객은 없었습니다. 하지만 산책을 하거나 근처 쇼핑몰에서 휴식을 취하기에는 매우 좋고 평화로운 곳입니다. 공원 안에는 이스타나 헤리티지 갤러리(Istana Heritage Gallery)가 있는데 저희가 방문한 날에는 아쉽게도 열지 않았습니다.

Istana Park

The park is located in the heart of the city of Singapore, opposite to the main gate of The Istana which is the office of the President of Singapore. It is a relatively small park and there were no other visitors during our visit. But, it is very nice and peaceful place for the stroll or for the break from the shopping mall near by. There is an Istana Heritage Gallery located inside the Park, but unfortunately the gallery wasn't open.

축제 아치

높이 4층, 길이 26m에 달하는 아치는 시민 구역으로 향하는 관문을 표시합니다. 이스타나 관저 입구의 문기둥과 난간을 본뜬 디자인입니다. 아치는 8월 동안 국경일을 기념하기 위해 배너와 깃발로 장식됩니다.

The festival arch

Standing at four stories tall and 26m long, the arch marks the gateway to the Civic District. It is designed to resemble the gateposts and railings at the Istana entrance. The arch is decorated with banners and flags during August to celebrate National Day.

싱가포르 국립 박물관

싱가포르 국립 박물관은 싱가포르에서 가장 오래된 박물관이자 가장 유명한 국립 기념물 중 하나입니다. 이전에는 래플스 도서관 및 박물관(Raffles Library and Museum)으로 알려졌던 이 도서관은 1849년부터 1887년까지 싱가포르 연구소 도서관의 일부였지만 헨리 에드워드 맥컬럼(Henry Edward McCallum) 대령이 현재 건물로 이전했습니다. 18,400제곱미터가 넘는 싱가포르 국립 박물관은 싱가포르뿐만 아니라 아시아의 풍부한 역사를 반영하는 전시물을 갖춘 싱가포르 최대 규모의 박물관입니다. 박물관은 현대적인 구조 디자인으로 강화된 신고전주의 스타일의 건물에 있습니다.

눈에 띄는 유리 원형 홀을 통해 싱가포르 역사 갤러리에 들어서면 14세기까지 거슬러 올라가는 싱가포르의 풍부한 역사 속으로 여행을 떠나게 됩니다. 초기 주민들이 견디고 극복해야 했던 장애물에 대한 더 나은 이해를 위해서 이야기하듯 하는 방식이 활용되었습니다. 전시품은 6개의 갤러리에 걸쳐 있으며, 고셍추 갤러리(Goh Seng Choo Gallery)와 싱가포르 역사 갤러리(Singapore History Gallery)에는 박물관에서 가장 놀라운 품목들이 전시되어 있습니다. 고셍추 갤러리에는 450점 이상의 Farquhar 그림이 포함된 William Farquhar 자연사 그림 컬렉션이 전시되어 있습니다. Story of the Forest는 컬렉션 중 69개 그림을 3차원 애니메이션으로 변환하여 19세기 말라야의 야생 동물과 풍경을 가까이에서 소통할 수 있도록 전시 되어 있습니다. 박물관 2층에 있는 리빙 갤러리는 영화와 와양, 사진, 음식, 패션 등 4개 갤러리로 구성되어 있습니다.

National Museum of Singapore

The National Museum of Singapore is the oldest museum in the city and one of the most prominent national monuments. Formerly known as the Raffles Library and Museum, it was initially a segment of Singapore Institution’s library from 1849 to 1887 when it was moved to the present building by Colonel Sir Henry Edward McCallum. Spanning over 18,400 sq m, the National Museum of Singapore is the biggest in the country, with exhibits that largely reflect the rich history of Singapore as well as Asia. The museum is housed in a neo-classical style building enhanced with modern structural designs.

As you enter the Singapore History Gallery through the striking glass rotunda, you’ll be taken on a journey through the rich history of Singapore that dates back to the 14th century. A storytelling approach is utilized to provide a better understanding of the obstacles that early inhabitants had to endure and overcome. The exhibits are spread across 6 galleries, with the Goh Seng Choo Gallery and Singapore History Gallery having some of the museum’s most incredible items. On display in the Goh Seng Choo Gallery is the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings that includes more than 450 drawings of Farquhar. Story of the Forest transforms 69 drawings from the collection into three-dimensional animations that invite you to interact up close with the wildlife and landscapes of 19th century Malaya. The Living Galleries on the second level of the museum are divided into 4 galleries: Film & Wayang, Photography, Food and Fashion.


차임스 (Chijmes)

Chijmes (아기 예수 중학교 수녀원)는 사무실 건물과 쇼핑몰로 둘러싸여 있습니다. Chijmes는 1852년에 수녀원 겸 여학교로 시작되었지만 현재는 레스토랑, 바, 카페가 있는 광장으로 변모했습니다. 내부 변화는 Chijmes와 주변 지역과의 바깥 모습의 차이만큼 내부 모습의 변환도 흥미롭습니다. (저희 평가: 2* 다른 식당들을 둘러보려면)


하카타 잇코샤 라면 (Hakata Ikkousha Ramen)

호평을 받은 하카타 잇코샤 라멘 식당이 차임스를 방문하게 된 계기가 되었습니다. 하카타 교자(5개)(S$6.50), 황금 볶음밥(S$12.00), 스페셜 돈까스(S$19.50)를 주문했습니다. 음식은 실망스러웠습니다. 어쩌면 우리는 기대가 너무 컸을 수도 있습니다. (저희 리뷰: 2*)







Chijmes

Chijmes (The Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus Middle Education School) buffered between office buildings and malls. Chijmes started as a convent and girls’ school in 1852, but it was transformed into what Chijmes has now become: a plaza fitted with restaurants, bars and cafes. The interior transformation is just as fascinating as the external contrast between Chijmes and the surrounding area. (Our review: 2* to try other restaurants)

Hakata Ikkousha Ramen

With the excellent review, Hakata Ikkousha Ramen was the reason to visit Chijmes. We ordered Hakata Gyoza (5 pc) (S$6.50), Golden Fried Rice (S$12.00) and Special Tonkatsu (S$19.50). The food was disappointment. Maybe we had too high expectation. (Our review: 2*)


내셔널 갤러리 싱가포르 (National Gallery Singapore)

이 미술관은 건물 자체가 (구 시청 및 구 대법원 건물) 인상적인 가장 아름다운 국립 미술관이며 8000점 이상의 19세기 및 현대 동남아시아 예술 작품을 소장하고 있습니다. 옥상 바/레스토랑에서 싱가포르 스카이라인을 아주 잘 볼 수 있다고 들었는데, 옥상 정원에서 보이는 전망이 인상적이지 않았기 때문에 저희는 시도하지 않았습니다.

미술관은 세계 최대 규모의 식민지 시대와 식민지 시대 이후의 아시아 및 동남아시아 미술 소장품들을 전시하고 있습니다. 내셔널 갤러리에는 6개의 갤러리가 있으며, 그 중 2개는 영구 갤러리로, 3층에 걸쳐 전시되어 있습니다. 싱가포르의 주요 예술가는 물론 동남아시아 유명 예술가들의 인상적인 작품을 감상할 수 있습니다. 저희가 방문한 날은 불행히도 일부 갤러리는 개조 공사로 인해 문을 닫았습니다. 또한 내셔널 갤러리의 케펠 예술 교육 센터는 아이들에게 혁신적이고 다감각적인 예술을 경험하게 합니다.








National Gallery Singapore

This is the most stunning national gallery and the building in itself is impressive (the old City Hall and Old Supreme Court buildings), housing more than 8000 pieces of 19th-century and modern Southeast Asian art pieces. We heard you may have very good view of Singapore skyline from the rooftop bar/restaurant, but we did not try it since the view from the rooftop garden wasn't impressive.

The museum showcases the world's largest collection of colonial and post-colonial Asian and Southeast Asian art. The National Gallery houses six galleries, two of which are permanent, spread across three levels. One can see impressive artworks from major Singaporean artists as well as famous Southeast Asian artists. Unfortunetly, some of the galleries were closed for revamping on the day of our visit. Also, the National Gallery's Keppel Centre for Art Education delivers innovative and multi-sensory art experiences for kids.


미러 볼 조각품 "싱가포르에서 24시간"

아시아 문명 박물관 앞 잔디밭에 위치한 Baet Yeok Kuan의 "싱가포르에서 24시간"이라 불리는 조각품은 호커 센터와 대중교통과 같은 싱가포르에서 쉽게 들을 수 있는 소리를 녹음한 대형 스테인리스 스틸로 만든 구체들 입니다.

"24 Hours in Singapore" by Baet Yeok Kuan Situated at the Asian Civilisations Museum's front lawn features large stainless steel spheres with audio recordings of instantly recognizable sounds of Singapore like hawker centers and public transport.


"Chettiars에서 금융업자까지"

대만의 예술가 Chern Lian Shan이 2002년에 만든 이 조각품은 이 지역의 금융 기관을 상징합니다.

Created by Taiwanese artist Chern Lian Shan in 2002, the sculpture represents the financial institutions in the area.


우리가 머라이언 플라자에서 간식을 먹고 있을 때 비가 내리기 시작했습니다. 지나가는 비 덕분에 비가 그칠 때까지 두어시간 휴식 시간을 가질 수 있었습니다.
While we were having a snack at the Merlion Plaza, it started rain. But, the passing rain gave us couple of hours of rest while waiting for the rain to stop.


머라이언 동상 (Merlion Statue)

머라이언(Merlion)은 머리는 사자이고 몸은 물고기인 신화 속 생물의 조각상이다. 1980년대 관광청이 홍보 목적으로 만든 이 곳은 곧 싱가포르의 아이콘이 되었습니다. 조각상은 우리가 상상했던 것보다 작았고 조각상 주변은 매우 붐벼 원하는 사진을 찍기가 어려웠습니다. 상징적인 Marya Bay Sands 및 반짝이는 The Esplanade Theatres on The Bay와 함께 마리나 베이의 전망을 즐길 수 있는 장소이기도 합니다.




Merlion Statue

Merlion is a statue of a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. It was created as a PR-stunt by the tourism board back in the 1980s, and it soon became the icon of Singapore. The statue was smaller than we imagined and the areas around the statue itself is very crowded - difficult to take the picture you want. It is also the place to enjoy the view of Marina Bay with the iconic Marya Bay Sands and the glittering The Esplanade Theatres on The Bay.


해변 산책로 (Waterfront Promenade)

강변 산책로는 싱가포르의 몇몇 스타 명소를 연결하는 산책로입니다. 마리나 베이 샌즈 단지와 미술과학관 외에도 산책로는 머라이언까지 이어지고, 헬릭스 브리지를 통해 베이 극장까지 이어집니다.



Waterfront Promenade

Singapore’s Waterfront Promenade is a walking route that links some of star attractions. Besides the Marina Bay Sands complex and the ArtScience Museum, the promenade extends to the Merlion and, via the Helix Bridge, to Theatres on the Bay.


저희는 시간이 촉박해서 밤에 다시 들릴 시간이 없었지만, 밤에 방문한다면 다채로운 다리와 건물, 상점들을 구경하며 더 즐거운 시간을 가질 수 있을 것 같네요.

Time did not allow us to go back at night, but if you visit during night time, it may give more pleasure in watching all the colorful bridges, buildings and stores.


나선 다리 (Helix Bridge)

현수교 보다는 얽히고 설킨 이중 구조의 독특한 금속 조각품인 이 나선 다리는 황혼이 되면 주변 도시 풍경을 초현실적으로 번쩍이는 만화경으로 바꾸는 야간 조명 기능이 내장되어 있습니다. 이 다리 위에서는 만 전체 지역의 멋진 전망을 감상할 수 있습니다.



Helix Bridge

A wholly-unique metallic sculpture masquerading as a suspension bridge, this massive intertwined dual structure features a built-in night lighting feature that converts the surrounding cityscape into a surreal flashing kaleidoscope at dusk. The bridge offers wonderful view to the whole bay area.


Spectra라고 불리는 조명과 음악 쇼

Spectra 쇼는 저녁에 15분 씩 두 번 공연이 있읍니다. 소리, 빛, 물이 모두 어우러져 멋진 쇼를 연출합니다. 좋은 전망 자리를 원하시면 일찍 가세요. 많은 사람이 산책로 바로 끝에 서 있기 때문에 뒤쪽에 있는 사람들의 시야가 차단됩니다. 그러다 쇼가 시작하면 사람들이 밀고 밀치며 앞으로 나옵니다. 쇼핑몰 Marina Bay Sands 앞에 벤치가 있지만 쇼가 시작되기 전에 차단되어 있었스비다. 쇼를 보는 다른 방법은 반대편 도시 쪽에서 보는 것 입니다.




Spectra - A Light & Water Show Marina Bay Sands

The Spectra show runs twice an evening and lasts 15 min - sound, light and water all come together in a great show. If you want a good view, get there early. Since everyone is on their feet, right at the edge of the promenade, they block view for everyone in the back. Then people push and shove their way to the front. There are the benches in front of the shopping mall Marina Bay Sands, but they were blocked off before the show. You can also watch it from the other side, the city side.


광동 낙원 더 쇼피스

배도 고프고 Spectra 쇼에 시간 맞추어 가느리고 쇼핑 센터에서 무작위로 이곳을 골랐습니다. 우리는 닭볶음 필레(S$19.30), 찜 샤오롱바오(S$8.60), 마늘 볶음 카이란(S$16.80)을 주문했습니다. 하지만 흰쌀 밥(S$3.60)의 가격은 놀랍습니다. 음식은 보통이었고 양도 적었습니다. 우리는 너무 많이 주문했다고 생각했지만 우리 둘에게는 충분한 정도였습니다. 실내는 깨끗하고 밝았습니다. 웨이터와의 소통에는 약간의 노력이 필요했습니다. (저희 평가: 2*)





Canton Paradise The Shoppees

We picked this place in random since we were hungry and did not want to be late for the light show. We ordered Stir fried Chicken Fillet (S$19.30), Steamed Xiao Long Bao (S$8.60) and Stir Fried Kai Lan with Minced Garlic (S$16.80). However, the charge for Fragrant White Rice (S$3.60) was a surprise. The food was average and the portion was small. We thought we ordered too much, but it was just enough for two of us. The interior was clean and bright. Communication with server needed some effort. (Our review: 2*)

The rain delay caused us to miss the Art Science Museum.
