오늘은 아이스랜드에서 마지막날로 아침에 흐라운포사르/바르나포사 (Hraunfossar/Barnafoss)을 구경한 후 레이캬비크(Reykjavik)에서 남은 하루를 보낼 예정입니다.

Today is our day in Iceland and we plan to visit Hraunfossar/Barnafoss in the morning and then spend the rest of day in Reykjavik.

흐라운포사르/바르나포사르 (Hraunfossar/Barnafoss)

주차장에서 산책로를 따라 가면 이 독툭한 폭포를 다각적 방향에서 볼 수 있습니다. 이 폭포는 Hallmundarhraun 용암 지대 가장자리를 따라 흘러나와 Borgarfjörður 만의 Hvítá 강으로 흘러갑니다. 이 폭포수는 아이슬란드에서 두 번째로 큰 빙하인 랑요쿨 빙하(Langjökull Glacier)에서 흘러나오는 푸른 빙하수 입니다. 아이슬란드에는 놀랄만한 큰 규모와 물줄기가 힘찬 폭포들이 많이 있지만, 용암 바위 사이에서 폭포수가 솟아나오는 매우 특이한 폭포인 흐라운포사르만큼 아름다운 폭포도 없습니다. 밝은 청록색의 물 색깔은 집접 보셔야해요.

Hraunfossar/Barnafoss

There is an easy trail from the parking lot that provides a number of viewpoints of these enchanting falls. Hraunfossar Waterfalls runs down the brims of Hallmundarhraun lava field and into Hvítá River in Borgarfjörður. The waters comes from Langjökull Glacier – the 2nd largest glacier in Iceland. There are obviously lots of huge waterfalls with their sheer scale and power, but there are few as beautiful as Hraunfoss which is a very unusual series of falls emerging from between the lava rocks: a long wall of water cascading over moss covered lava, falling into bright turquoise water!

흐라운포사르 폭포를 지나 오른쪽으로 산책로를 따라가면 바르나포스가 나옵니다. 잘 표시된 길을 따라 가면 강을 건너는 다리가 있는데 이 다리를 건너면 왼쪽에 바르나포스(Barnafoss)가 보입니다. 바르나포스(Barnafoss)는 "어린이의 폭포"로도 불리워지는데 이와 관련된 소름 끼치는 아이슬란드 전설이 있습니다. 폭포수량이나 힘찬 그런 폭포는 아니지만 좁은 협곡 사이로 흐르는 물쌀이 무척 빠르고 물의 색깔은 매혹적 입니다. 색상은 빛과 환경 조건에 따라 흰색에서 파란색까지 다양합니다. (평가 4*)

Head right to start walking towards Barnafoss. There is a well marked path, then you will come to a bridge crossing over the river. After you cross the bridge you will see Barnafoss on your left. Barnafoss translates to “children”s waterfall” and has a creepy Icelandic legend that goes along with it. It does not have the intriguing shape of volume or powerful, but the color of the water can be mesmerizing. The water is rushing through a narrow canyon. Its color varies from white to blue depending on the light and conditions. (Review 4*)

상징적인 할그림스키르캬 교회(Hallgrimskirkja Church)는 건축가 구드욘 사무엘손(Gudjón Samúelsson)이 디자인했으며 외관은 아이슬란드의 자연에서 많이 볼수 있는 현무암 기둥을 닮았습니다. 레이캬비크 시내에서 가장 높은 건물이라 쉽게 찾을 수 있습니다. 교회 내부는 최소한의 디자인으로 특별히 웅장하지는 않지만, 내부에 있는 커다란 파이프 오르간이 눈길을 끄네요. 하지만 이 교회의 진짜 매력은 타워 꼭대기에서 볼 수 있는 360도 파노라마 전망입니다. 교회 앞에는 크리스토퍼 콜럼버스보다 먼저 북미 대륙에 처음 도착한 유럽인으로 알려진 북유럽 탐험가 레이퍼 에릭슨(Leifur Erikson)의 동상이 있습니다. Hallgrimskirkja Church

The iconic Hallgrimskirkja Church is designed by architect Gudjón Samúelsson with an outside meant to resemble the basalt columns found in Iceland’s nature. It’s the tallest building in downtown Reykjavik and is very difficult to miss. The inside of the church is minimalistic in design and not particularly grand, though the large pipe organ inside is eye-catching. The real draw of the church however is the spectacular 360 views you’ll find at the top of the tower. In front of the church there is a statue of Leifur Erikson, a Norse explorer who is credited as the first European to land in North America even before Christopher Columbus. (Review 4*)

할그림스키르캬(Hallgrímskirkja) 교회 길 건너편 2층에 있는카페 로키에서 맛본 캐러멜 소스를 곁들인 스카이르 케이크(800 ISK)는 라떼 시피(700 ISK)와 너무 잘 어울렸습니다. 저희가 들렸을 때는 점심시간이 지났는데도 손님들이 많아 자리가 빌때까지 몇 분 정도 기다려야 했습니다. (평가 4*)

Cafe Loki is located at 2nd floor across the street from Hallgrímskirkja church. Skyr cake with caramel source (800 ISK) was very good with Caffe Latte (700 ISK). The place was very busy even after the lunch time and we had to wait for few minutes for the table. (Review 4*)

Einar Jónsson Museum

Einar Jónsson was one of Iceland's first major sculptors, laying the groundwork for much Icelandic sculpture to come with his Outlaws, exhibited in Copenhagen in 1901. In 1909, he offered his works as a gift to the Icelandic people, on the condition that a gallery would be built to display them. The location he chose was Skolavorduhaed, a 'desolate hill on the outskirts of town' towering above Reykjavík. Completed in 1923, the Einar Jónsson museum became Iceland's first art museum.

We did not go inside of museum which has several gallery spaces with sculptures and paintings on display. But, we enjoyed the full range of Jónsson's sculptures including his monumental bronzes displayed in the purpose-built sculpture garden, just as when it opened. (Review 4*)

예술가 욘 군나르 아르나손 (Jón Gunnar Arnason)이 만든 이 조각품은 바이킹의 배라고 오해를 많이 합니다. 이 조각은 오히려 꿈의 배이자 태양에 대한 찬사입니다. 미지의 영역에 대한 약속과 희망, 진보, 자유에 대한 꿈을 상징합니다. (평가 3*)

Sun Voyager

The Sun Voyager statue is a unique piece of public art that resembles a Viking ship and makes for a great photo opportunity.

The artist Jón Gunnar Arnason created the striking landmark. It is a common misunderstanding that Sun Voyager is a Viking ship. The original intention is that it is a dream boat and an ode to the sun. It represents the promise of undiscovered territory and a dream of hope, progress and freedom. (Review 3*)

하르파 콘서트 홀 (Harpa Concert Hall)

저희가 들렸을 떄는 휴관으로 내부는 볼 수 없었지만 714개의 벌집 모양의 유리 패널이 밤에 빛을 발하는 밤 야경이 아름다운 콘서트장입니다. Hallgrimskirkja와 마찬가지로 디자인은 현무암 기둥과 비슷하도록 만들어졌습니다. 2008년 금융위기 직후에 완공된 거금의 콘서트 홀은 많은 사람들이 그 비용을 더 유용한 곳에 투자할 수 있지 않았나하는 논란이 있었습니다.

건축 필요성에 관계없이 이 건물은 오늘날 건축학적으로 흥미롭고 아름다운 건물로 남아 있으며 건축 부문 미스 반 데어 로에 (Mies Van der Rohe) 상을 받았습니다.

On the day of our visit, we could not visit the inside of the Harpa Concert Hall, but it is known for a beautiful night view when 714 honeycomb-like glass panels light up at night. Like Hallgrimskirkja, the design was meant to resemble basalt columns. The concert hall was somewhat controversial as it was an expensive project completed shortly after the 2008 financial crisis with money that many people felt should have been used elsewhere.

Whether or not its completion was warranted, it stands today as an architecturally interesting and beautiful building, recipient of the Mies Van der Rohe award for architecture.

This is a famous hot dog (690 ISK) stand in Iceland, but it was not enough to make me want to go back even though the taste of the hot dogs was different from the hot dogs we usually eat. The hotdog we bought at the gas station was as good as the one we ate here. (Review 3* for the fame)

Lookoomas is a traditional Greek donut that you can get with a variety of toppings. We tried the apple and cinnamon donut (1750 ISK). It was so delicious that we went back and tried the chocolate topped donut (1850 ISK).(Review 4*)

펄란 (Perlan)

펄란 박물관은 인공 얼음 동굴을 걸어 볼 수 있으며 거닐며 오로라와 2010년 화산 폭발 등 아이슬란드에 대한 많은 흥미로운 사실들을 배울 수 있는 곳입니다. 박물관에 있는 얼음 동굴은 얼음 동굴 투어보다 비용도 저렴하게 흥미로운 경험을 할 수 있는 곳 입니다. 하지만 동굴 내부 온도가 영하 5도로 유지되므로 따뜻한 옷을 꼭 챙기세요. 펄란은 레이캬비크에서 가장 높은 언덕에 위치하고 있어 도시와 바다의 멋진 전망을 볼 수 있는 곳이기도 합니다. 우리는 예상했던 것보다 더 즐거운 시간을 가졌습니다.(평가 4*)

Perlan

You can walk through a man-made ice cave and learn some fascinating facts about Iceland including northern lights and the 2010 volcano eruption. The ice cave at the museum is a cool experience and cost less than going to the ice cave tour. But be aware to bring warm cloths since the temperature inside of cave is kept at minus 5 F. Perlan sits on the highest hill in Reykjavik and also offers great views of the city and the water. We did enjoy the visit more than we expected.(Review 4*)

오늘의 일정은 골든 서클 관광 입니다. 골든 서클(Golden Circle)은 아이슬란드에서 가장 유명한 관광단지로 아름다운 랜드마크와 역사적으로 중요한 장소들를 순환 관광 할 수 있는 곳입니다.

Today's schedule is to visit the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle is the most famous of all scenic routes in Iceland and combines stunning landmarks and historically significant places in a circular sightseeing tour.

저희는 가능한 관광객들을 피하기 위해 일반적인 골든 서클 관광 순서의 역순으로 여행할 것입니다.

We will be doing the Golden Circle in reverse order of usual tourist stops, hopefully to avoid the crowd.

굴포스 (황금폭포) (Gullfoss)

대부분의 폭포는 밑에서 위로 바라보는데 굴포스 폭포는 위에서 폭포를 볼 수 있고 폭포가 지하로 내려가는 것처럼 독특하게 보이는 아이슬란드의 자연 경관중의 하나 입니다. 굴포스는 거품이 이는 협곡으로 떨어지기 때문에 밑에서는 볼 수도 없습니다.

세 곳의 전망대에서 다른 각도로 이 자연의 경이로움을 꼭 감상하시기를 추천합니다. 제일 밑에 있는 전망대에서 산책로를 따라가면 굴포스(Gullfoss)를 가까이서 직접 볼 수 있으나 기후에따라 접근이 금지될 수 있습니다. 그러나 방문객 센터와 윗 전망대에서 굴포스 폭포의 풍경을 안전하게 관람할 수 있습니다.

일출과 일몰 시간이 폭포 구경에 '골든 아워'라는데 저희가 들린 날은 구름진 날이라 얼마나 도 좋은지는 모그겠습니다. 굴포스 방문객 센터 주차장은 매우 넓고 방문객 센터에는 화장실과 매점, 식당이 있습니다. (평가 4*)

Gullfoss (Golden Falls)

Most waterfalls you have been are viewed from the bottom. Gullfoss Waterfall is one of the natural wonders of Iceland and it is unique because you view the falls from above and it appears that the Iceland waterfall is actually going underground. Gullfoss plunges into a gorge of foaming water so there is no way you could possibly even view it from the bottom.

We highly recommend to see this natural wonder from different angles at the three viewing platforms. The lowest viewing platform offers a path that allows you to see Gullfoss up close, but access may be restricted depending on the weather. However, you can safely view the Gullfoss waterfall from the visitor center and the upper viewing platform.

Sunrise and sunset are said to be the 'golden hours' for viewing the falls, but the day we visited was cloudy, so we couldn't tell how beautiful it was. The Gullfoss Visitor Center parking lot is very large, and the visitor center has restrooms, a shop, and a restaurant. (review 4*)

Geysir and Strokkur

A World Famous Geyser

Although the Great Geysir is less active these days, it did lend its name to hot springs all over the world. It was the first geyser described in a printed source. Along with Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, Geyser is the most famous geyser in the world. Accounts from the 19th century mention that the Great Geyser could reach up to 170 meters (558 ft).

Seismic actvity in the area still affects Geysir. After being dormant for years, Geysir was revived by an earthquake in 2000 and erupted for a couple of times a day for several years. Today, Geysir is mostly dormant, though the other hot springs in the Geysir geothermal area remain quite active.

The most active geyser in the Geysir Geothermal area is Strokkur. It sprouts hot water as high as 20 meters (65 ft) into the air every five to ten minutes.

블레시 간헐천은 자주 또는 정기적으로 분출하지는 않지만, 스트로쿠르보다 더 아름다운 모습을 자랑합니다. 부글 부글 끓고 김이 모락모락 나는 두 가지 색깔의 온천입니다.

Blaesi Gysir

Blesi geyser does not erupt often or to a regular schedule but it’s a better looking geyser than Strokkur. It consists of 2 colored pools of boiling, bubbling, steaming hot water.

If you have seen geysers anywhere else (or even if you haven't), you may want to skip this place. (Review 1*)

프리드헤이마르 농장 (Friðheimar Farm)

레스토랑이 토마토 온실 안에 있어서 분위기는 특이하고 좋았습니만 유명한(?) 토마토 수프(2960 ISK)는 우리 입맛에는 너무 묽은 맛이 실망스러웠습니다. 대신 꼬치 치킨(1180 ISK), 꼬치 새우(1180 ISK), 피자(2610 ISK)는 꽤 맛있었습니다. 토마토 아이스크림(1780 ISK)은 색다른 경험이었지만 가격에 비해 양이 너무 적었습니다.

저희들은 예약을 했지만 손님들이 많은 것이 예약하지 않았다면 자리가 없었을 것 같습니다 (아니면 꽤 기다렸든가) (평가 2* 색다른 경험)

Tomato Icecream

Friðheimar Farm

The restaurant is in the tomato greenhouses as such the atmosphere was good. However, the famous (?) tomato soup (2960 ISK) was watery for out taste and it was disappointing. We rather enjoyed Skew Chicken (1180 ISK), Skew Shrimp (1180 ISK) and Pizza (2610 ISK). Tomato Ice cream (1780 ISK) was different experience, but the portion was very small for the price.

We did have a reservation and they were very busy. We doubt that we would have got a table otherwise (or long wait>). (Review 2* for the experience)

바이킹이 정착한 직후, 새 이주민들은 싱벨리르를 공동 의회인 알싱기의 장소로 선택했으며 930년에 설립된 알싱기는 세계에서 가장 오래된 의회입니다. 알싱기의 입법권은 세월이 흐르면서 약해졌는데, 가장 큰 원인은 1262년 아이슬란드인들이 노르웨이에 항복했기 때문이다. (평가 4*)

Thingvellir National Park

The name Þingvellir translates as “the fields of parliament”, as it was the site of Alþingi, the democratic legislative assembly, highest court and most important political institution of the Viking Age commonwealth. This is a place of history and geological wonderment where the North-American and the Eurasian plates meet at this very location, but drift apart. There are visible cracks and faults traversing the area to see the continental drift. The tectonic plates are drifting in the opposite direction at the rate of 2cm (0.8 in) annually. For the adventurous souls, there is even a snorkeling tour going in between these continental plates.

Shortly after the settlement by the Vikings, the newcomers chose Thingvellir to be the location for a common parliament, Althingi. Being established in 930, Althingi is the world’s oldest parliament. The legislative power of Althingi diminished as the years went by, first due to the submission of Icelanders to the king of Norway in 1262. (Review 4*)

The Þingvellir viewing platform located next to the visitor cener, also known as Hakið, is an important viewing point in the Þingvellir National Park in Iceland. The platform offers beautiful views of the park and the surrounding nature, including the Almannagjá gorge.

The Almannagjá fault is a great place to start. It's located near the visitor center and has a manmade walkway that will wind you through the two tectonic plates the area is famous for.

Walking down Almannagjá, the first stop is Drekkingarhylur in the Öxará river. At least 18 women were drowned in Drekkingarhylur, most of them were sentenced to death for adultery or incest.

다음 목적지는 뢰그베르크 (Lögberg) 입니다. 뢰그베르크는 알싱기(Althingi)의 의회가 열렸던 바위입니다. 알싱기는 야외 의회였으며, 모든 업무는 뢰그베르크 앞의 경사지와 들판에서 진행되었습니다. 이 바위는 자연스럽게 연설을 위한 무대가 되었습니다. 뢰그베르크의 정확한 위치에 대해서는 논란이 있지만, 트레일에서 볼 수 있는 이 바위가 뢰그베르크일 가능성이 높습니다. 알팅긴은 1798년까지 싱벨리르에서 모임을 가졌고 1844년에 레이캬비크로 옮겨졌습니다.

Next stop is Lögberg. Lögberg is a rock that is said to have served as the assembly for Althingi. Alþingi was an open-air assembly, with all business conducted in the slope and fields in front of Lögberg, The law-rock which provided a natural platform for holding speeches. There have been debates about the exact location of Lögberg but it’s highly likely that this rock you’ll see on the trail is it. Alþingin continued to meet in Þingvellir until 1798. In 1844 it was moved to Reykjavík.

보드워크를 따라가다 보면 13m(44피트) 높이의 아름다운 왐사라르포스 폭포 (Öxarárfoss)를 만나게 됩니다. 크기는 작지만 그림처럼 아름다운 폭포이니 잠시 시간을 내어 사진을 찍어 보세요.

As you follow the board walk, you come to a very pretty13 m (44 ft) high waterfall, Öxarárfoss. It’s small in size, but incredibly picturesque, so take a moment and snap some pictures

Deildartunguhver – 끓어오르는 강

Deildartunguhver는 97°C (200°F)의 뜨거운 물이 초당 180리터(50갤런)로 흐르는 유럽에서 가장 크고 가장 물쌀이 쎈 온천입니다. 멀리서도 거대한 증기 "구름"을 따라가면 찾을 수 있습니다. 해조류로 뒤덮인 암석 노두에서 나오는 뜨거운 물이 증기 동력 자원을 만들어냅니다. Borgarnes와 Akranes 마을에 있는 주택과 사업체 난방에 사용하는 온수가 Deildartunguhver 에서 나옵니다. 옆에 스파도 있으니 원하시면 들리세요. (평기 2*)

Deildartunguhver - Boiling River

Deildartunguhver is the largest and most powerful hot spring in Europe with a flow rate of 180 litres (50 gallons) of water per second at a piping hot 97°C (200°F). You can spot it from far away by following the great steam “clouds”. The scalding water bubbles out of an algae covered rocky outcrop creating a steamy source of power. Most of the water heating homes and businesses in the towns of Borgarnes and Akranes comes from Deildartunguhver. There is a spa next to it if you want to try. (Review 2*)

Fosshotel Reykholt (포스호텔 레이크홀트)

방은 매우 깨끗하고 조용했으며 직원들은 정중하고 친절했습니다. 다른 시설들은 사용하지를 않아 평가 할 수가 없네요. 방은 약간 추워서 프런트 데스크에서 히터 조절법에 대한 지침을 받아야 했습니다. 이 지역에 아침을 먹을 수 있는 식당들이 별로 없는 것을 감안하면 호텔에서의 아침 식사는 가격에 비해 괜찮았습니다. 이 지역을 다시 방문한다면 다시 머물 것입니다. (평가 4*)

Fosshotel Reykholt

The room was very clean and quiet and the staff was polite and friendly. No reviews of the other facilities since we did not use them. The room was a little chilly and we needed the instruction for the heater control from the front desk. Breakfast was ok for the price, considering there is very limited options to eat in the area. We will stay again if we need a room in the area. (Review 4*)
